I LOVE that sound of a Roots-blown 567, especially when they throttle up or down! And that paint scheme is even reminiscent of the old Erie line here in the States.

@BobbyTucker no Bobby, it's a Denon AVR 3805, I think it's 130 watts at 8 ohms per channel, and a seperate subwoofer out. I have 2 of them, 1 in the lounge and one is going into my bedroom. It's being repaired at the moment, the right hand surround channel dropped out. That one I've had over 20 years, and I bought it second hand in a pawn shop, the one I'm using I picked up in Melbourne, Australia, for $70, great deal. They have all the grunt I need, and I listen at high levels.
@kellyswoodyardАй бұрын
@BobbyTucker all the speakers in the lounge are JBL monitors, Control 10, 4410A, Control 5, and a JBL centre speaker. The sub is a Cerwin Vega HT-S 12, an oldie, but a goodie. A couple of years ago it quit on me, I took it to my tech, he was prepared to pay me really good money for it, but where do I find another one?

General Motors sold out EMD after EPA regulations were becoming serious and market sales kept declining while GE was taking over.EMD always ran into problems for the last few decades,the last best units they manufactured were the GP40-2's & SD40-2's.Greenbriar Berkshire acquired EMD and made things even worse by cutting down costs and using off shelves parts as much as they could. Finally,Caterpillar became both EMD's & PRLX's parent company.The only product that was built since then was the SD70AH-T4's which ironically became failures just like the SD90MAC's that they were primarily based upon. Caterpillar has also fallen into a bad spot with EPA regulations,so them owning EMD won't change a thing sadly.EMD's future is almost dead at this point.Wabtec/GE controls the locomotive market.

I suppose we can say the rings are bedded in now. In addition to the 7 carriages and the T, I would like to have seen another locomotive with a dynamic brake providing a resistive load the lot being dragged up a 2% grade. That would've been a proper test but perhaps too much load too soon on a new donk. Some people like me are never happy....
@robertmcfadyen9156 Жыл бұрын
Like the early days of the 42 class in New South Wales , a series of light engine and progressively harder load trials before full operation . Winding back the governor before graduating towards full 835 RPM operation . You can "PRE - BED" piston rings these days with lapping CNC . I have had this done to MY Yamaha motorcycle with success .

Call this analogy weird, but the higher the rpm, the less it sounds like an EMD and the more it starts to sound like an extremely low revving supercharged sports car. Maybe I think this is because this is essentially a V8 scaled up and merged with another. Oh and I forgot to mention that it is converted to 2 stroke and runs off diesel if you're living under a rock.
