So if I’m just getting my first seeds now in mid September in southern VA, would you plant now or wait til spring
@HandcraftedintheFoothills3 жыл бұрын
You can do them now
@MrShaneerdy3 жыл бұрын
missdeeva2266 is right you can go ahead and sow them but I would get to it and not wait too much longer if you do decide to do them now. you can see your hardiness zone here planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/ and your first expected frost date here www.almanac.com/gardening/frostdates these will help you better decide if you want to plant now or wait until spring. young seedlings can handle a little frost but don't like a freeze.

Sorry for the late reply. I will post a video next spring of how to remove the seedlings from the pots and transplant them in the garden.

Sorry for not posting any updates. Between work, family, hybridizing, and taking care of the garden it's hard to find time to do much else. For anyone interested in seeing some of my seedlings I uploaded a few photos here garden.org/lists/view/ediblelandscapingsc/?catid=3944 Thank you everyone for the kind comments and I wish you all the best of luck on your seedlings. Happy Hybridizing

I have a question do you just take the seeds into the dirt and let them sprout or do you germinate them first?
@MrShaneerdy4 жыл бұрын
I direct sow the seeds in the pots but you can sprout them first if you want. Either way works really well.

@@MrShaneerdy What time of yr are you doing this?
@MrShaneerdy3 жыл бұрын
@@HandcraftedintheFoothills I'm in zone 7b so we can Fall sow or Spring sow. You just want to give your little seedlings about 5 weeks of growth before freezing temps set in. If you are in a really cold part of the world zone 5b or colder I would wait until spring before starting any seeds. Good luck and thanks for checking out my video.
