In this video of the NDS Video Blog series, Joe Reilly discusses DOT Urine Specimen Collection Step 1: Starting a collection.
1) Go over Instructions with the donor
2) Check Id of Donor
3) Check that Specimen ID numbers on the seals match the form
4) Complete Employer information, MRO information, Collection Site Information, indicate DOT agency, indicate Test Reason, indicate Test panel,
5)Have donor remove outer garments (jackets, etc), empty pockets, wash and dry hands
6) Select Collection Cup (official beginning of the collection process)
7) Collector provides donor directions for the providing of the specimen

Are all DOT testing the same for the testing/validity? (Such as preemployment, random, return to work, suspicion,etc) From what I understood, the collection process is different for each one, but they are all tested in the lab using the same method, yeah?

They’re all sent through lab for examination. Urine collection, they always test for same things for the most part

What warrants a directly observed collection? For example, if an employee had to use the bathroom before appearing at the drug testing facility, are they given some time and fluids to help urinate, and would this alone warrant a direct observation collection? An older video I watched indicated this.

In your example there would not be a direct observation. Direct observation occurs when: Temp out of range Specimen appears to have been adulterated Donor has products designed to cheat the test and collector finds Previous specimen tested with very low creatinine level Previous specimen tested had invalid result and no medical explanation Split specimen test requested and the split specimen is lost or not found at Lab

Urine temp is out of range, and that warrants a combination strip search and directly observed urine collection? I don't think even the police can do that. Criminals have more rights than employees. How backward it is to treat working people like this.

@@davidturner6212 direct observed is done for DOT testing and required by Federal regulations when the above happens. This is a safety program.

@@JoeReillyAssociates "Security", "safety", "health". These are excuses that tyrants use to violate peoples most fundamental rights. LIBERTY IS THE SECURITY. We have to error on the side of liberty and dignity, not the illusion of absolute safety. As Americans, we cannot place the perception of safety above all else. These invasive methods are not about safety, it's about conditioning total submission to authority. Mind, body and soul. We could easily test for intoxication noninvasively, but that would defeat the true purpose. This drug war is about something else, too. Money. It's really a war between a good drug, cannabis, and all of the other far more dangerous drugs, both legal and illegal, and many billions of dollars are at stake. The drug testing industry being the least of it, financially, but it's an effective control mechanism. At a huge cost to our liberty and dignity. This is the real agenda. Money and total submission. The war on/of terror and the war on drugs have turned every American into a prisoner. We now only have the right to obey authority. That is the only uncontestable right that we have. Which means we have no rights at all. We have the Constitution of here, and all these other rules way over here, and they are light years apart. All of our most important rights, Constitutional and human, are being completely disregarded. So, what are we protecting? People need to be safe from oppressors, discrimination and persecution. Working Americans who use cannabis off the job should not be treated like criminals or heroin addicts. No more than you should be treated like a criminal or addict because of the vices that you have, that make you human. Humans are not interested in living just to eat, sleep and work. Humans have always wanted more than that, and they deserve more than that. Let good employees get high off the job. Let them vape and get their THC fix. Leave them alone. This is very good for morale and productivity. Some employers understand this, and respect their employees. Now I have to get back to work operating my tower crane.

About how many times out of 10 do directly observed collections prove negative for illicit drug use?

Very few as cheating stops when the test is direct observed.

​@@JoeReillyAssociates If it's 1 out of 100, it's one too many. If you have ever humiliated just one innocent citizen, then it was one too many. The presumption of guilt over innocence, and making people prove their innocence in a demeaning way, under coercion, because if they don't, they'll get fired and black listed as a drug offender. Everything about this fake war on drugs is tyrannical and anti-American to no end. And coercing drug users into self-incrimination, is also tyrannical. We should just legalize marijuana, and stop the drug war. You would have to find a more worthwhile job, but that would be a good thing, too.

@@davidturner6212 there is no correlation between direct observe and regular collection. You have asked an ignorant comment. Why do you call it humiliating? You obviously have no clue why there are direct observations. Direct observation is a result of 1. possible cheating during initial test 2 Return to duty is always direct observe it means they have been caught before and a part of staying on with the company you must submit to observed. Many other circumstance apply. David you are a jerk and must have been popped positive before.

As an employer I have the right to expect my workers to be punctual and do their job right. I do not have the right to dictate how they live off the job. An employer does not need to create a hostile or adversarial workplace environment to create a safe and productive workplace environment... "Those who trade liberty for security get neither."... You don't think that it would be humiliating for me to presume you guilty of something, then strip search you and star at your groin while you pee in a cup?.. Would you consider that some kind of honor? Just because you work for me, I get to treat you like a prisoner or my personal property, and do whatever I feel like to you?.. Hey buddy, I smell marijuana on you. Now pull down your pants and underwear, lift up your shirt, now do a 360, lift up your shaft and ball sack, now pee in a cup while I star at your d-ck as you "void"... There are many government agents, in doctors offices, cheating on drug test to get RID of Chronic Pain Patients. This protocol at least minimizes employees, doctors, government agents, and employers from enacting corrupt and conspirator practices from a dark mind and a heart intent upon harming American workers.
