Honestly the moment that got me (although i wish it lasted a little longer) was Cid's deep breath after walking away from Benna. The sadness in his eyes and his expression show the attention to detail on behalf of the Dev team. That hit hard.. anybody atruggling with grief gets that moment where you stare into nothing but your memories and need to compose yourself before pressing on with life.

And when he starts walking faster feels like he is really trying to focus on moving forward instead of mentally staying still and grieve, since that doesn't lead into anything but sorrow.

@@Yvanne it's part of the reason I love Cid's character in this game. He's a man in the truest sense, strong, calm, funny, confident but none of that takes away from him allowing himself to feel vulnerable. He doesn't allow himself to dwell on those emotions for long and that is how a true leader behaves. People suffer and leave the world, even those closest to you, but you knew this and are determined to press on to make a better world for those two remain. What's legend

This game was so damned good. Seriously. It was probably one of the single most painful stories I’ve ever experienced but it was an exquisite experience all around. I mean, plenty of FF games have made me cry over the years, but this one just took no prisoners with the painful shit and kept getting better and better at putting a knife through my heart. It is very probably the best FF title in the series imho. FF9 will always be #1 for me because of the personal experience I had playing it (I was just going through puberty when FF9 released and was going through that existential crisis moment of self identity and the meaning of it all), but this game seriously made me consider replacing FF9 as my favorite. I had to revise my favorite FF list and just put FF9 into its own category because this game honestly deserves the #1 slot. It has every element of a classic FF title from the Sakaguchi era of games, especially the beautiful piano melodies that Soken wrote for it that truly felt like an Uematsu composition. The short and beautiful little moments we get with Jill really hit hard and remind me a lot of the Cecil/Rosa moments from FF4 (my third favorite title btw). The parallels between Clive and Terra (FF6) and Jill and Celes (FF6) really mesh well with the story. This game truly feels like another FF9 in that it is a beautiful love letter to all previous FF titles and represents the entire franchise as a whole, with all of the previous references we see and all of the tiny nuances from pervious games. As for those who are still whining about the combat system though… This game would never have worked as a turn based system. It was not written in that way. The narrative doesn’t make sense as a turn base, and honestly the story is so damned good I would have been highly disillusioned had they have forced it to make it work. This is a story of two brothers with a story that is woven into the perspective of one of those brothers specifically. It would not have made sense at all to have even a partial control of other characters (which is ALSO a major story component and a running theme in this game; to choose your own destiny and decisions). The action gameplay was designed to work with the story. Going forward with the series though, I WOULD like to see more combat systems based around the FF7R design, but that’s just a personal preference. But I digress. This game is phenomenal and if it doesn’t get GOTY then I am sorely upset. This game deserves it, truly

Havent played the game yet and probably wont until next year, but for anyone who has played the game, whats the exploration like? I enjoyed just exploring alot in FF15 and games like xenoblade.

It depends what you want out of it, I think. The areas are VERY pretty and there is a lot to look at, but there's very little mechanical reason to explore, since most of the goodies you'll find will just be little things like crafting materials. I found the exploration kind of meh, personally, my love for the game comes from the spectacle/setpieces and the combat.

My guess would be to stop him from hurting himself. He was tied up for a reason, and maybe they thought he might use anything he could reach to hurt himself. Doesn't mean they couldn't give him a tunic... or at least pants. The behind the scene reason is "M rated game, so they can get away with it" I guess.
