This is awesome Joe, it’s my dreams too. your thoughts exactly the same as my, there’s a lots of tropical fruits out there that I hasn’t try and I want to try them all and saves all of the fruits tree species for the next generation to know about, cause might went extinct in the future as people trying to clear out the jungle to build houses and apartments. Nothing felts good when u have your own lands with a lots of different species of fruits, and will never getting bored to eat them freshly off from the tree years round. Again congratulations to u and looking forward to visiting your farm in the future. Pleases make more updates Vids about this, thanks you!

Congratulations Joe, this is the dream of many of us! Glad to see you had the chance to start your project with such a great experience behind. May I suggest to not underestimate the chance to invest in Anonidiums, Rollinias, Uvarias and Asiminas: they may perform much better in Hilo than in Cali!
@GrowAllTheFruits5 жыл бұрын
Rollinia is one of the easiest fruits to grow here. I've got some Junglesop going now and am trying to grow some Uvarias from seed. I hadn't thought about Asimina because it's too warm for A. triloba but I suppose some of the Florida-native Asiminas would work here.

Hello Joe! I am incredibly impressed with everything you have accomplished in a year! I also lived in the North SFBay area for many years but life/family brought me back to Massachusetts. You're doing everything I would love to do if I had the resources to do so. I'd love to keep up with your facebook group and see how things progress! My fiance lived on the Big Island for a few years in Kona and we have been talking seriously for a few years about taking our daughter back out with us to share love for the Aina and grow organic food for the community. Would love to stay in touch! Amanda

Hay i have a question about the video you made with the bill, the green garden guy. About the rain proof mango. I plan to move to puna in 2-3 years is that a chance i can buy some of these mango seeds this wild mango is Inpossible to buy seed online. No whare sells them or any mango from southeast Asia. I would love to help develop a big sweet mango tolerant of these rain and I became this mango could be the key. Is there any chance I could buy some of these mango seeds from you or point me in the right direction to get my hands on some. when I move out thire in like 3 years. Love the videos any help would be appreciated.

Joe. I share exactly the same ambition and desire as you are. I want to buy some acreage in Big Island especially in Hilo area. My wife is scared of volcano and prefers Kauai. But in Kauai the lands are expensive. We are visiting Kauai last week of January to explore the place and island life. I also wanted to grow tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers. Currently I live in Cupertino, CA and I grow Michelia Champaca. I would like to raise cows of Indian origin and utilize them to make Panchagavya and other farm inputs. Goodluck and let me know if there any lands comes up for sale near your area. God Bless You.

Ganesan Swaminathan thank you. Tell your wife there is no threat of volcanic activity in many parts of the Big Island, including Hamakua Coast and Kohala.

How is the farm coming a long? I will be there on the big island this April looking for land and reconnecting with people and would love to maybe connect with you and see the progression of the land. I would also be willing to help and learn from you as I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

It seems like you are making more work for yourself by getting rid of the cows. You'll have to use the tractor, which can be expensive and time consuming. The cows or other grazing animals can help to build your soil even more and produce great manure for your fruit trees. I hope that you'll reconsider!
@GrowAllTheFruits5 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to build a forest here, so there won't be much grass for cows to eat in the long run. The cows that were here weren't mine, they belonged to cattle rancher who was leasing the land from the previous owner. I have a friend who is planning to bring some of his cows down here temporarily to mow down some of the grass, but that will be in isolated areas with electric fencing. I'd love to have cow manure for my fruit trees, but I'm not interested in the responsibility of caring for livestock. I'm a plant guy.
