Paradox has been doing this a lot with its sequels to its games, and honestly, I like it most DLC made now is flavor packs and adding of mechanics that weren't explored or added from the previous games

Oh that's interesting, some of the new mechanics I've seen in transport fever before, like being able to build a road across another one, or the way how you place bus stops independently from the lines, or the fact that the interest doesn't pay back the loan. Very neat! Lots of quality of life stuff

From what I've read, stone industry doesn't require a resource under it, same with Chickens. They are basically 'Free' specialized industries until you get to Grain (requires fertile land), Forestry, and the Coal/Oil extraction.

For service buildings - things like the cemetary, the schools, the power plants - it's _crucial_ you leave space around them for upgrades. The upgrades, while expensive, are powerful, and it's better to buy them than to build multiple of a building. Also your city would be hellish to drive in, build some trams or subway; don't think you have space for the other modes.

I find solar panels sprinkled here and there on houses really cute. Just a neat reminder that everyone can get some free electricity from the sun, which can accumulate to a nice amount in grand scheme of things.

I think my favorite thing about Cities Skylines 2 is the change to scale. Instead of a house having 12 families living in it it's far more realistic now. I think this alone will help make cities feel more realistic in their layouts. Plus the addition of needing parking because cars don't despawn. Like all those changes to persistence and scale instantly make this game more enjoyable than the first one for me.

If I’m not wrong you don’t need fertile land for livestock farm so you should use grain and cotton farms on fertile land

Yeah the cost to run windmills is so low you can actually get a good chunk of profit from exporting their energy

I think kibitz should build a new mountainous area with roads winding up and down the mountains, the mountains could also be covered in trees and you could build some houses/lodges on the mountains it would really remind me of my country scotland and I think it would be an amazing addition in your city!

There are highways with roads going through them like that(in California for example), but they usually have a separate turning lane so they don't get rear-ended by highway traffic and the space there in the middle is longer so cars can go through, but of course, it sucks ass for semi trucks.

Try hexagonal grids. Just do equal sides with 120 degree angles. Three way intersections are way better than four way with square grids and even if It might look less efficient moving in straight lines, diagonals are way better than with squares so it balances out. Not to mention you can do diagonal pedestrians roads, sidewalks, public transit or whatever going trough the hexagons from corner to opposite corner in a straight line to separate smaller blocks and make it more efficient to move around. Another advantage hexagons have over other shapes is that alike squares and triangles they can stack perfectly without leaving space in between. Idk if it will actually help in a utility sense, but it will make the city more unique and it is for sure not a bad idea.

I havent watched all the episode yet, but I hope kibitz finds out that both livestock and stone specifically says "can be placed anywhere" as it doesn't need to be placed on top of a mineral deposit or fertile land for livestock. While doing the zoning of the industry it won't tell how much production it will do ( somehow, I believe it is an oversight ) unless it's on those deposits, it will still make stuff that will be seen from the production tab in finances.
