Yep, it's definitely a 1981 model. 1980 and '81 models had the rectangle hood ornament and 1982 - '89 had the Pentastar ornament.

i gave my son an 86 dippy same color as yours on his 18th birthday ,he named him the "Blue Meany" he just turned 29 and we lay the meany to rest ,no demo or boneyard for the meany ,he can rest with us forever !!!!

Fyi, Dads just another old hoarder of dodge darts and plymouth valient parts and the. Fire chiefs diplomat with the slant six....Dads old 1964 dodge dart is put away for the winter...so naw...not interested in selling it...it's been in the family since 1981...:/
