I suggest a full repaint. I know it’s more money, but this car will never lose value, so I think it’s worth it. And personally, I’d go with a LOUD color. 911’s are just one of those cars that look fantastic in bright and crazy colors. Get Tiana’s opinion on color (she’s got style lol). But definitely something vibrant.

Full restore! Would add so much value to it and 10 years from now you wouldn’t look back and regret painting it.

it wouldn't though. Painting it would make it lose value, as its no longer original paint. A restored car is worth less than an original car with patina 99% of the time.

Full restore actually negatively affects the value of older Porsche's. Unless it's a high end resto-mod like a Singer or Guntherwerks

Wait until you paint the car to put on the whale tail. Paint both hoods so you can change it out if you want in the future. The whale tail + paint transformation all at once will be more impactful. Also, if you're willing to do a different Porsche PTS color, I'd recommend yachting blue metallic.

Stoked for BBS content. If you’re on the fence about the whale tail, could always try the shorty dove tail. Seems very Japanese inspired and would suit what you’re going for. Stoked to see what you do with it.

There's a time and place to have fun and have purpose in building a car. On Monday, my R32 GTR goes into the workshop for new bushes and 4 new tyres. A couple of grand down the drain. But nothing puts a smile more on my face than knowing the car is in good working condition after. Sometimes, you just have to do the little/big things to your car(s) to let you feel joy for a while. This Porsche build is one of them.

Dustin, little known fact about g body 911s, the pedal box is adjustable! You have to pull back the carpet to get at it. I've not done this myself, but I trust the source who told me that all 80s / gbody cars have the feature. Great looking car! I love the wheels you have on her now, they're classic.

I think you should just re spray the car that blue. Because if you wrap the car and then let’s say you want to take the color off and redo the wrap it’s gona completely destroy that paint that has already peeled you will have a bigger problem after that. As someone who owns multiple JDM cars, the issue becomes time. You don’t have time to enjoy all of them and when the build is over, there’s a vacuum. Can only drive one at a time, so it will always depend on why you’re building/buying the car. Does it bring you joy?

I definitely suggest a full paint restore because that blue is going to look even better once fully repainted back to OEM. Anyone know the color code for this blue? The whale tail will look insane in that color but definitely even better fully repainted. Definitely worth what it’ll cost.

I would say paint the whole car in Gemini Blue Metallic, which kind of looks similar to the current colour. Paint is way better in terms of future proofing the car and definitely gives a way higher quality look to the build.

Flat decklids are so underplayed right now. Honestly, visually with the plain (no wing) decklid, it draws your eyes down and makes the car look wider and lower, without needing to be a Turbo, M491 or RWB option.

Hey Dustin, in order to have fun again building a car and discovering new stuff you might want to check some Euro brands that you could work on. Like Renault Megane RS or Alpine, they are great platforms to work on and mega super rare in US!

If you are going to fit that rear wing then you may also wish to consider fitting a front splitter to balance the aero. Porsche did supply SC's with the rear wing as an option but part of that package was the front splitter. I don't know how much difference it really makes in the real world but i wouldn't like to second guess Porsche designers. Great to see your enthusiasm for the old girl and wish you luck with the project.
