For St. Augustine, I already did the big ferts earlier with stress blend in March, then flagship at the end of April. Did RGS, Humic 12, and Air 8 earlier in the season as well. Today, I put out Sunnilands 8-0-10 at 5.5 pounds per 1k. Did DiseaseX as well since we're in the rainy season. Other than a little bit of sedge, my lawn has never looked better. Also, last week sprayed Hydretain and was blown away at how well the grass looks like it's been watered but hasn't been. The dry spots in the lawn are gone. Just want to thank you Allen for all the help.

Thanks to "The Lawn Care Nut" for inspiration and education. My St. Augustine lawn is very old and in need of rejuvenation . I started following this channel a little more than a year ago and last year's lawn was improved over previous years . Doubling down with even more attention to fertilizers and more water, this year's lawn is the best it has looked in literally 20 years. For my situation weed & feed has been a big mistake and really holds back the grass. My old lawn is now thriving on lots of nitrogen, nutrients, and lots of water. This reminds me, I need to get out there are put out some bug killer to slow down the grubs. Thanks again.

Same here. I've had great success with stress blend as a granular starter on my yard then I started using the green county liquids recently. Now I am addidicted to liquids due to the amazing results. That being said what really sold me: I did the same stress blend about Feb 5. Same stuff on my mother in laws yard about a half mile from where I reside in NW Houston / Jersey Village and her yard only really perked up after a heavy dose of a blend of ar8 and RGS. When I would apply the stress blend on my yard it would be the best looking yard in a subdivision of 382 houses. But when I did hers it wouldn't do anything close to mine. She would laugh and say I gave her the bad bag of fert. Unofficial soil test: My sons and I run a scout flag program in our subdivision. We nail in 48 sticks of 1/4 inch rebar (24 inch long but only 12 in the soil) in 48 different lawns. On this memorial day flag set up her yard was much easier to nail the rebar in: amazing yard to yard how different the feel is. Some yards it takes only two hammer throws others it takes 10 and you can feel a mini earth quake because their soil is so compacted. I really attribute a lot of the success to AR8 at The mother-in-law’s house. I bet if I threw down granule now on our yard it would respond because the soil structure is so much better. It's a different way of soil testing but I assure you it's accurate😀

I live in Texas and do this with good results in st augustine grass... 1. I buy and Apply scotts red bag (winterguard) on October. I use half and leave the other half for next year. 2. On March I buy scotts green bag ( turf builder) then I mix the green bag with previous year red bag. I read that St. Augustine needs iron to become green but also needs bit acidic soil to get the iron. Scotts winterguard (red bag) composition is Nitrogen - 32% Potash - 10% Sulfur - 6% . Scotts turf builder (green bag) composition is NItrogen 32% (16% slow release) Potash 10% Iron 2%. Sulfur lower the soil Ph and helps the grass to get the iron better.

You mentioned south Texas, unfortunately for us we are in drought and can't have any real watering schedule. Never understood why people invest in irrigation here when you can't use it. I just hand water in the morning and hope for the best but grass is already thinning out after a brief lush spring growth. Usually 100 degrees by noon here
@llamacebu2162 жыл бұрын
That's because you have poor soil and weak roots. You're not watering long enough. I'm from Texas. We have black hard concrete dirt/clay, not soil. You will need to water about 45m-1h every other day until your lawn is lush than 15-20 mins. Water at 4am the earliest. Earliest the best because grass grows at night. We added red dirt for a top dressing in the front which boosted the time period. Bermuda comes from Africa, it can survive Texas

@djek86672 жыл бұрын
Get a soil test. If your soil PH is too acidic, and you need to “raise your PH” then put down Lime. Lime will make your soil more Alkaline. If the soil in your area is clay, then Lime will be unnecessary as clay is typically very Alkaline (higher PH). To “lower your PH” you should put down things like Sulphur and Iron to lower the PH level. Again, get a soil test and go from there.

I believe the Zoysia section was where he was hand watering in the video.

@@jimmaul yes correct, that is the zoysia section - I need to do a video on it.

It's about the same as St Aug when it comes to water consumption.

Hey Allyn, I'm going to be spraying a tank mix of Cleary's and Demand CS - any issue with adding Greenephite to the mix? Also, are you no longer selling Greenephite?

I put some 3 n 1 weed n feed and my grass turned a bit yellow. What does that mean?

How do you keep moles and gophers out of your lawn? Besides trapping, after they have likely caused quite a bit of damage, any prevention methods?
@bourbon.362 жыл бұрын
I asked the same thing on a neighborhood app, and a bunch of people said to put down pesticide for grub worms. Supposedly, Grub Worms are what moles feast on. Not sure about gophers though.

So, I didn’t dethatch my yard before I used a 5-1 weed and feed. It has been 21 days and my grass is only a tad greener, and the dandelions are worse than ever. Should I have ran a dethatcher before I applied the weed & feed?
@TheLawnCareNut2 жыл бұрын
It takes more than a single application to fix a lawn. It takes sometimes an entire season. Yardcarebootcamp.com will give you all the training you need to succeed. Check it out for sure.

That's a good start. Just use those and see how you like the results.

@@TheLawnCareNut I’ve been seeing great results. I use a hose sprayer and apply everyday. The plants are also coming alive like never before. Is spraying everyday too much?
