Well you can tell I'm REALLY enjoying a game if the video is an hour longer than they've been lately! What an incredible start to the game and an insanely beautiful visual upgrade. I never expected my first time playing Uncharted would include my first time playing Crash Bandicoot as well 😁 So excited for more, thanks for joining me for this one!

Yeah I played horizon zero dawn for the first time last year (absolutely enjoyed it) and thought the ps4 version on ps5 looked really good; than the remastered version came out and there is an upgrade, but ps4 games hold up on ps5 quite well.

Yeah, it’s crazy that even some of their older games like uncharted 2 still relatively holds up as well. Granted at times it looks obviously dated but there are certain scenes that environments that do look impressive to this day. Naughty Dog in my opinion, are the best in terms of graphic fidelity and facial animations.

A couple of very subtle foreshadowing comments. Youngest Sam says they'll take the high road when introducing the rope mechanic. That specific phrase is from a folk song "You take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland afore ye." They are now in Scotland. Then there's Nates response to Jameson the salvage boss when he wants to go for a drink. Nate says "no thanks I'm just gonna go home and crash." He goes home and ends up playing Crash Bandicoot. Intended or not they both work regardless.

Man, I forgot how engrossing these cutscenes are. The dialogue and storytelling are a huge leap from the previous three games! Good commentary too, this is fun.

Now THIS is Uncharted. This was the first game I played on my PS4 back when I got it and it’s still one of the most gorgeous games I’ve ever played. Naughty Dog are pioneers and Uncharted 4 is their flagship!

Uncharted 4 is my second favorite game of all time right after Elden ring. I completed this game about 10 times on the hardest difficulty every time. The story is incredibly and that ending was so good

Remember in the first game when Nathan and Elena were attacked by pirates right at the start. Elena said they should call for help, but Nathan said they didn't have permits and if they called for help Elena would find out what it's like in a Panamanian jail. 33:43 This is how Nathan knows what it is like in a Panamanian jail. And here is a thought, had Nathan and Elena been arrested in the first game there is a chance that Nathan could've been sent to this same prison and found out that Sam was still alive back then.

Uncharted 4 is easily my favorite game of the series and in my top 10 of all time. Graphics still blow away games today, story and gameplay are the best in the series, exploration and world design are breathtaking, performances are movie quality, and everything feels just as fresh as the first time playing it. It puts away the corny dialogue of the first three and predictable twist to tell a much more heartfelt tale that really pays off in the end. Once this is over, definitely play The Lost Legacy when you can as well!

My only issue is how it starts narratively. Flash forward, flashback, flash forward to a flashback, present day. Lose the boat sequence and just start with Nate at the orphanage and work your way forward. You end up playing that boat sequence again later. Just save it for when you get there. I think they tried to copy the Uncharted 2 opening and it was unnecessary.

@ It’s more that it’s unnecessary. Starting a story with three consecutive time jumps is not good storytelling. Ideally what the should have done is drop the boat intro, moved the first flashback with Sam to after he re-enters Nate’s life, and start the game proper with the prison sequence.

03:02:00 - The motion artist had to show them taking off the jackets but after doing some web searches, couldn't find a routine for that so he just gave up and wrote one from scratch. He found out after the game's release when he started getting calls from places like Pixar asking him how he did it why it was that he couldn't find one in the first place. The lighting effects in this game are second to none, but that short sequence might be the most technically impressive thing in this game.

The funny thing about the whole pirate era we're in here, is that you were a pirate, or not, going by which FLAG your ship flew. You could be a British pirate ship, going after Spanish ships, but as long as you flew the British flag, you were legit. Most pirates were also part of their countries Navy at some point. The problem isn't the fact that you're attacking ships, and robbing their stuff, it's that you're doing it to the wrong people, and not who the Crown wants you to do it to.

Its not even how the original plays either the game isnt about getting crates in a certain time limit its about making it to the end of the level with all crates and thats not even possible since you sometimes need to get a DIFFERENT gem from another level before getting the gem in the current one
