Drake and Elena in Chapter 17 remind me of Uncharted 1. She even has the same colors. Major throwback. Also, Brothers Drake is one of the best chapters ever!!! Also, the last cutscene with the pirates table is my favorite of the series.

The Alcazar reveal is such a seamless twist. There's literally no early hints other than Sam's obsession with the treasure and lack of concern about the deadline. You forget that the whole prison escape was a story Sam told Nathan, you just assume the flashback is 'real' because you play it. And it's only when you look back that you realise all of Rafe and Nadine's comments about needing 'him' and wanting to draw 'him' out were referring to Sam, not Nathan.

Nate and Elena coming across the pirate lords might be my favorite scene in the series.. the framing and blocking of Elena looking at Nathan as he talks about the Pirate Captains perishing from history in an instant and her witnessing his passion is just amazing. The small moments that happen during their trip up to that side of the island there are bits and pieces that shows what makes their relationship so special but that scene in particular is where she truly remembers why she fell in love with Nate.

Awesome session as always. I will start this by saying Nate shouldn't have lied period. However, Nate seemed very serious with his promise to Elena about not doing this adventurous life anymore. There's no way he would have joined Sam, if Sam just asked Nate to find the treasure with him. Which makes Sam's lie that much more devious and awful. He used the most horrible lie, the only one that would make Nate go with him, to save his life. And it is the only thing that would make Nate abandon his promise, is to save his brother's life. Nate lying is horrible, but at least his lying was done because he thought he would be saving his brother's life. Sam's lie was much more harsh cause he was putting Nate's life and marriage at risk for no reason. Sam is selfish and doesn't care about Nate's life. Nate cared about his brother's life. That being said, Nate never should have lied. He should have trusted Elena to understand. But at the same time, I understand he was scared Elena would leave him for breaking his promise to go on another adventure, even if it was to save his brother's life. End of the day, don't lie to the people you really care about, that's the lesson, haha.

Yeah, the whole "Nate is a mass murderer" schtick is really old and annoying at this point. He isn't murdering in cold blood, he's killing in self-defense; that isn't murder. Did he kill the innocent guards at the museum in Uncharted 2? No, of course not. He even scolded Flynn for bringing guns before he told them they were tranq guns. Please people, drop the "mass murderer" bs. I know you think you're being cute, but it's just beyond played out now.

Well the TRUTH has been revealed! Sam was lying this whole time about Alcazar breaking him out of prison and it was so convincing because we actually played that lie at the start. Then you saw the second half of the Nate & Sam flashback when they were kids and that place they were at was so big! I was also hoping to see a picture of their mother somewhere while they were looking for her stuff. Anyway afterwards Elena came back along with Sully too and Nate finally told her that whole story just now. Then when Nate & Elena got to Tew's old place they found the founding pirates of Libertalia who all died at that table from poison drinks obviously and of course Avery and Tew would screw them over the treasure like that cause their PIRATES!!!

Julia, do you plan to play these games again, to collect all the treasure you missed this time round? I'm wondering if you'd appreciate the KZbin chat pointing out treasures you missed, after you're way passed that point? I've played these games through several times. I LOVE the action set pieces. I'd happily have a bypass option for the puzzles too. The only treasure I pick up, are the ones that jump out at me when I'm going to the next action section. I only know the locations of a fraction of them. I just found it rather amusing to watch a player who loves the treasure hunt, miss a very obvious one that even my eyes can't ignore. Granted that was only once, but I found it amusing.

2:35:39 And this is where the story goes a little off the rails for me. Nate gives two reasons for lying to Elena. One: That he was trying to keep her safe. Two: He was afraid of losing her. Elena calls BS on the keeping her safe thing and accepts the "afraid of losing her" explanation. The only problem is the lying to her because he is "afraid of losing her" makes no sense whatsoever. If he is so afraid of losing her because he is breaking a promise that they made that only leaves him two options. 1) You don't break the promise, or 2) You don't lie to her. If you're so afraid of losing the relationship, then why would break the promise that would ruin the relationship and make it even worse by lying to her? He has no choice but to break the promise in order to "save" his brother. Okay, then explain that to your wife and trust that she will understand. Especially when at the beginning of the game Nate is tempted into taking an *illegal* salvage job in Malaysia, tells Elena about it, and she tells him that she thinks he should take it. She has already expressed to him that she is willing to let him take on a job that could land him in jail. So, why is Nathan feeling so insecure about this relationship when he could explain that he has no other choice to help his brother. Lying to her to keep her safe actually makes more sense than the "afraid of losing" her excuse. Now imagine this. Nathan tells Elena the truth, she insists on coming along, she ends up getting hurt or kidnapped or almost killed and then comes the reveal that Sam was lying about how he got out of prison. That would've made that reveal that Sam was lying way more impactful, and it would have the added benefit of not having Nate seem like an idiot for lying to his wife for a stupid reason that makes no sense.

I still don't believe that Drake was completely useless against Nadine. After the way he fought in Uncharted 3 and two, he should have easily at least dodged or blocked a couple of punches from her. I mean come on. Yes, he may be a little jet lagged but he's still trained his whole life. I think you can agree with me on that Julia lol

Bro thinks Nate could beat a trained military leader in hand to hand combat 😂 suspending disbelief for regular soldiers is one thing, but for a main character is different
@paulbrown932810 күн бұрын
@@HaarisButtnot really Nate and Sam have been fighting and living this life since they were kids. Now yeah military training is great and all but experience beats all. Not saying Nate should have won but he definitely should have put up a fight. He has beaten military people in a scramble. Especially being the main character. The one thing that is frustrating is you can’t do anything that’s where naughty dog fails. And all games that do this. Don’t give me the option to fight and not the option to win. Fighting a fight a game won’t let you get hits in is not really good mechanics. Outside of being annoying it’s bad game design. Regardless of the opinion on Nadine. Who is an okay character to me she just felt annoying in the story and the fight scenes with her did not help her case in my eyes. And she was fine in lost legacy. They should’ve just made it a cutscene and not interactive.
@HaarisButt10 күн бұрын
@@paulbrown9328 I agree that the fighting scenes were implemented poorly and would have been better as a cutscene since it’s impossible to win. Strong disagree on experience holding any level of competency to actual trained fighting. Any time you put a street fighter against actual trained fighters they get smoked because there is a large gap in knowing how to fight vs having been in a lot of fights.
@paulbrown932810 күн бұрын
@@HaarisButtSure maybe you’re right irl but, it feels wrong in game. Experiences play a hell of a lot when it comes to fistfights, taking and giving punches, etc. Out of all the things Nate has been through who’s to say one of the many situation he has beaten a military trained person? I’d compare Nate to an above average boxer and has been in crazier fistfights/firefights than Nadine from a gamers perspective, he should’ve put up more of a fight imo. Especially when we’ve seen what Nate has been through and what he is capable of. If we blend in game logic with irl Nate should just be miles stronger than her because we play as him and see his feats. It was just not well implemented but that can be said about most games when they suddenly apply realism in the cutscenes and the gameplay not amounting to much. It wasn’t the best way to show Nadine was a threat, would’ve been better to see her fight against others first like maybe the guards at the auction before getting to Nate. A show of power before having no trouble beating the person we have seen taking out entire squadrons of people and climb and lift nonstop.
