So good to see you in the Command Module, and all that effort learning it. I also highly recommend doing the checklists like you do, even if the RUN feature is available. Now I look forward to see the full length as well, but I liked this solution to it with a timelapse. It's quite a few switches to press :)

I was hoping to scroll these comments to find something further explaining the pressure issue with Apollo 1's fire. NASA has basically gotten away from a lot of the blame here, citing the 100% oxygen and excess Velcro for the situation. Not only did they run the atmosphere inside the capsule with pure oxygen, they did it around 2 psi above atmospheric pressure, resulting in something like 5 times the amount of oxygen present normally. The added pressure was necessary for the hatch to seal properly. While using pure oxygen was bad enough, pressurizing it brought the levels high enough that just about everything in there became flammable. NASA was actually warned against this practice by the contractor, but (like they would do again) decided they knew better.

Oh... darn... I didn't expect the game to depict the Apollo 1 tragedy, Although upon seeing that cutscene it makes sense why: "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" we must never forget the mistakes that led to that horrific event, less we have another tragedy of equal magnitude. On a more lighthearted note, wow! look at all the switches in the block 2 command module, Okay now imagine having to memorize ALL of them, THAT is exactly why so few people get to be astronauts: you have to be both smart enough to know what every switch does(along with orbital mechanics, etc.), and brave enough to recall such knowledge in a life or death situation, simply put, you have to be both a genius and brave enough to apply that massive intellect in a life or death situation. "When will we be going back? and who will it be?" -Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, circa ~1995 "I wish it was now, and I wish it was me." -My own response to the above quote.

Nice to see that :) :) And to your question regarding EVA´s: They did EVA´s on the last three Moon-missions. All of the J-Class-Missions (Apollo 15 to 17) involved a Deep Space EVA on transition back to earth for experiment retrieval. To do that they vented the Command Module. And before someone comes with: But did you forgot the surface EVA´s from every landing: NO, i didn´t i just mean they did three Space-EVA´s on the last landings too. And for the other group that perhaps comes around: YES, NASA brought some guys onto the Moon and Back, live with that and stop saying it´s impossible.

Damn. I'm always surprised at how fast everything proceeded during that catastrophic fire. My thoughts are of cause with the families and friends of Grissom, White and Chaffee, but also, I can't imagine how the engineers who designed the Block 1 spacecraft must've felt.

Loving this series of your journey through the different spacecraft! Looking forward to more Apollo content! Would be good to see some MOCR content in the future, but appreciate it's a difficult coordination/editing.

Apollo 9 had one in LEO and one of the later Apollo missions had the CMP conduct a Deep Space EVA to retrieve a film canister on the CM

I hope that the developers add some of the Soviet missions such as Vostok or Soyuz. The game feels incomplete without the guys and gals on the other side of the Iron Curtain.

Not having hints highlighting the right switches probably really emphasizes how well the actual astronauts really had to know the system. I'd probably prefer to do things that way as well.

You saying you don't know every part of the spacecraft reminds me of Apollo 12. When they got struck by lightning only one of the three crew members knew where the "SCE to AUX" switch was, which activated the auxiliary power.

I just bought this Simulator. I am having a few memory issues in this stage of life. Is there a way to just "ride" a Gemini or Apollo into orbit without doing all the switches? Peace and NASA forever!
@N9GamingOfficial6 ай бұрын
The closest thing would be to to "run" all the checklists when required, especially in the campaign - it will highlight all of the switches for you to flip for you :)

@@N9GamingOfficial I got the Gemini in orbit, circularized, did a quick EVA, spent 24 hours on orbit at 109 x 101 NM. Did my retro work and splashed down safely. Great simulator once you start concentrating on it. I am a KSP guy and love this "stuff"! The Apollo still overwhelms me! LOL!
