I just tried this run...its brutal at the start! Got to become a prisoner at the start many times.. Trading is your lifesaver here and your boots and hammer, what i did,i go to a town, i sold my blacksmith hammer and my boots,i buy only goods at low price that i can sell at double price via rumors and check if the next town that the goods im selling is near my starting location,i buy what i can only carry with 80+ gold, i dont recruit any troops, once im out of town i sneak my way to the another town to sell those goods at a higher price...rinse and repeat until you got about 5k that way you can level your trade, slowly buy a horse first then continue trading then when you can finally equip yourself then continue trading until you are comfortable enough that you can pay for wages and food for your troops...after that rough start, you are good to go as normal

Yeah I really wish I'd spent more time building up some money at the beginning. If I ever revisit this I'll absolutely do the strategy you just described.

@@LargelyUnemployed well... technically ..at first...i dont know what the f am i supposed to do hahaha...no money, no troops, cant even do quests, even though i have the extra village options mod....it freaking didnt help at all as tools is expensive and the wage isnt even worth anything...so lol Trading it is with no shoes and weapon...if you are more bold...sell the clothes too for more extra gold but i tell you not to in case you got caught and be a prisoner again...once you are free you still have a clothes to sell..... Also note i started in vlandian territory, and most trade comes from glened(i think) to sargot, the one in between those cities and one below them as well.. Now i got more troops to muster and more gold on my purse....good stuff

@@teryn3723 another good way to get some really early money is to start as the aserai and pick all the backstory options that give you throwing javelins. They sell for over 2000 a piece.
