Wow even at 6:16 where I am now I already like this. You are the first one out of 8 that really really help how to play the game. I played AOE long long time age and I loved it, now I've got this videos of AOE4 that I really like but wanted how to play it, since I have to wait to get a bigger computer first (memory wise). I tried my first skirmish on intermediate coz I thought I‘m a decent strategian…. Started to get economy going: After 10-15mins the enemy rolled over me with a huge army….and I lost immediately. The AI is much more aggressive than in previous expansions or Games like Empire Earth!

Hahaha I know! The AI will adapt to your build too. It's real good. Even at easy

Not when you played Empire Earth starting in modern age. When there is air units available then even the easy AI spammed them like crazy and early. Still you are right in AoE4 even the Easy AI starts rushing pretty early.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. They have so many more troops than you can ever expect. I rolled in with what I thought was a big diverse army and got slaughter quickly. I tried 4 separate attacks before just giving up

@@italianspartacus Problem is, the AI, after few fights, suddenly stops building an army and you can just stomp them, even on hardest difficulty. If they stop having gold they just won't produce the typical "Trash units". That's sad

So excited for this game for years. Lol though gotta say oddly the version I played the absolute most was age of mythology. Where you get to be the Greeks, Egyptians, Norse and Chinese lol 😆 I loved the God powers and monsters you could bring onto the battlefield

good beginners guide! very informative for newer players! one thing i like to do is use control groups for production buildings so i can allways produce villagers or army without looking at my buildings. cheers

Played 2 games so far, one as English, one as mongols, both against east ai. I won both but my god that ai shows no mercy even at easy!

In this type of game, I've only played HaloWars 1&2. Is this kind of the same thing? Paper rock scissors and opponents rushing every single time? In HaloWars MP I got tired of playing rushed, so I just ended up playing vs AI most of the time.

the thing about getting rushed in competitive RTSs is you kinda have this option to play defensively so becoming good at playing when attacked is essencial, I would say embrace your style and enjoy surviving.

For reference, if not playing China: 4 villagers = 2x faster than 1 10 villagers = 4x faster than 1

Unfortunately not if you want though, you can start a game without AI. This will allow you to work on economy and what have you without feeling pressured

Here i mean for example, when i try to put all range units to hot key 1 (with ctrl + 1) and i notice i got some cavallry in there, i dont know how to put the cavalry to 2 without them having (1,2) on top of them. Do you know what i mean? At the end i have some units have (1,2,3,4,5) on them although i just wanted to seperate them 😩🔫 please help this noob here >.

I'm mostly a casual player, but I have heard/read that the AI is very agressive. As I understand there is no option to slow down the game - is it possible for a casual player to enjoy this game or is it as far as you know too fast paced?

I am fairly casual. So far on easy i find it is not too difficult. Still can't take my time and make a pretty city but have no issues winning. I normally get an early rush against me and then another one around 15 minutes in. Other than that i have plenty of time to do what i need to in order to get a great economy. Late game is a cake walk because of that.

If you play against AI, just build and early wall and tower, this will help a lot to countrr early attacks

Question; U stated you put your scout in a group. So, not sure what a group does for one unit? I am thinking about joining your patreon group if I can get quick replies.

I put him in a group so that it was quicker to access him. Usually group 4 just because my hand is already on that orientation on the keyboard :) you can also press... i think it's, "/" to quickly navigate to your scouts. please don't feel compelled to join my Patreon because I responded! Only do that if you want to support the content!

The 200 unit cap is an absolute joke, they've advertised it as big battles but you can't have a strong economy to make those large armies because that takes up numbers. I'm debating getting a refund for the game, it's honestly really fun but I wanted big battles and there isn't even an option to get more than 200 capacity 😡 Really annoyed with that

Honestly I find the tthe battles get pretty wild. You want to keep your villagers at or below 90. You can even spare some in late game. When you get lots of gunpowder going or a navy, the game really pops off

200 is the competitive cap. Yah for customs they need to increase to just have fun. But this game will evolve like every AOE.

The available civs kind of suck, where is Spain , a Germanic civ I'll even take a Slavic kingdom. I see english, French and the HRE (ugh) and that's it. It's not a race thing it's an I understand these civs real world tactics somewhat, I don't know how the bloody Delhi sultanate fought or what they saw as there core fighting force, no clue. So I'd get stomped. Like even the Japanese. Chinese I could probably pull off but I'd have to call myself "kingdom of Hong Kong" or something.

OMG, the same butt-ugly square blocky sci-fi looking interface as every other game these days. Don't they hire artists any more? How about designing a medieval style interface to go with the game's theme instead of this ugly tablet interface?
