Hey Nadi, thanks for sharing. In most situations I have found that you will have challenges if you get to higher volumes due to lack of production and storage space, equipment needs etc. If you stay at a lower volume you will likely have challenges with making money and spoilage. I hope this isn't the case for you, but the reality is, it is kind of the nature of the economics of the business. Please report back and let us know if you are able to make it work and if it is profitable.

Hi Andrew i have followed you as well as others this past year on starting a cold press juicing operation......a lot of great info here...that being said i must say ...I jumped in and started my business from my home....1) to meet regulatory requirements I converted a 300 sq space into a small commercial kitchen with commercial refrigerators, counters, sinks and equipment. 2) this has gave me opportunity to develop the product and customer base. Albeit the volume sales are low at this point yet as my confidence grows with such positive feedback I have the opportunity to tweek the various issues that arise with absolutely no financial pressure on me. For instance, I live in Western Canada so getting inexpensive wholesale organics is very challenging....which in turn reduces the potential profit margins to even a lower percentage. so over the year i have taken my time to find local reputable sources.I think that this toe in the water approach has merit and brings clarity to the unfolding of a successful business plan through hands on experience. thanks for your uploads...Peace

Hello, my friend. Thanks for your feedback. Everyone's situation is unique so I like to speak to the majority of people in this situation as well as offer what I have seen through experience 1) Great that you converted your space, most people are not aware that they will have to go through this in order for this to be an option, and many will not get approved, depending on where they live. 2) Yes, product development and connecting to your customer base is key, so that is valuable, without question. But product development will happen at the rate of feedback and responsiveness by a business. So something that might take you 1 year with low customer volume will take you 1 month with higher volume. 3) You are surely learning valuable things that can not be overlooked and you are doing it in a way that is slow and that you can afford it seems. Most people who start small and from home have the misconception that they are going to make enough money to grow their business, at a reasonable pace, make and save money and open a store with their savings a year or two later, which is not accurate. The majority of people in this situation get stuck in a hamster wheel of attempting to maintain their business without it actually growing because they haven't crossed the threshold of scale that the need to be at in order to bring in enough profit for them to hire more people and delegate. As they say, hindsight is 20/20. I have been in this business for over a decade and spoken to countless people who get stuck in this small scale trap. It is not to say that there aren't special circumstances. There always are. But from my observation, the best advantage that someone has from starting like this is. 1) Customer relationships 2) Some value in product development 3) Potentially attracting investors. That being said, I am aware of potentially smarter and faster ways to do all of these things.

Just some feedback a lot what you said came off discouraging & negative. I think you listed most of the disadvantages than you did the advantages. I understand being realistic. But I also think there’s a way to encourage those who may want to start small & grow.

I am not a fan of people starting from home. This is why I made this video. People usually have unreasonable expectations of what they will accomplish from this. I do not feel comfortable encouraging people to do things that are not the wisest. As I mentioned, you may find some benefit in building an audience and testing the market, but most people think they are going to make money running their business this way, and it almost never happens and if they do make money it is such a small amount that it generally isn't worth the time considering there are other routes you can take.

Sometimes the truth is uncomfortable, but it will save you a lot of time, energy and heartache. Hi a great video! I live in Nevada city California. I am a health coach and juice connoisseur. I I have a private gym in hi and salon and Accu organic market in my area that want me to make juice is just for them. I can also do juice cleanses with my clients. I just don’t know if I can make a profit doing this considering how much work. Where can I find more information about how much I can profit off every juice and what I can make a month if I sell 100 uses a week only.
@StartAJuiceBarcom3 жыл бұрын
This will depend on how you structure your cleanses and if you have a margin for your service built-in. If you are simply selling 100 juices a week, it probably wouldn't be worth your time to be honest unless you used this as a stepping stone to expand from.

Ignore all those negative comments on this video, this is a great reality check, helping me turn my dream into a realistic goal, its how people react to confrontation that determines whether they will be successful or not, subbed and liked, p.s.- all those who want to start from home, the only reason you would want to, is to do market research to see if your product has potential; for a realistic idea of what will happen once you start producing and once you have had a successful market research, you will use that to go to the bank or find investors to get your business going, don't be scared to take risks, because it is the risk takers that are successful, if you fail, learn from your failure and get better, so your next business has a higher chance of being successful.

You can start at home. It is just about setting expectations. This is not like starting some app in your garage or investing in a time machine. You have to understand how some businesses are different otherwise you will potentially learn many lessons the hard way. I speak to over 1000 people every year a good portion of those are people who have been running juice businesses from home who are stuck. At any rate, wishing you luck.

StartAJuiceBar.com she had to expand into a brick & mortar and briefly pause her business due to the high volume of orders she was getting. I don’t think you’re wrong but in 2020 business models are so unpredictable and versatile.
@StartAJuiceBarcom4 жыл бұрын
@@dressmyself I understand what you are sharing and it is line with what I am attempting to get across. What is high volume for someone in their home is not considered a high volume for a store. So this is one of the issues because most people's homes are not built for scale/high volume sales. When you are running a business from home at even a low volume (which is difficult/ nearly impossible to make money at) you will be forced out quickly due to the nature of how much space you need to prep and size of wholesale orders for produce etc. I am not here to kill anyone's dreams. I am simply here to give people perspective and understanding of what I see works and does not work from over a decade of experience.
