The disappearance of Jennifer Pentilla has consumed two cities, hundreds of miles apart. The teen missionary is from Montana. But a mission of faith led her to the southern New Mexico desert. After a brief phone call to her mom, Jennifer was supposed to hop on her bicycle and make her way to Las Cruces, NM. She never made it and her belongings would end up on a different highway, heading in the opposite direction. Detectives have long believed her camping gear was staged and that the person who put them there is responsible for Jennifer's disappearance. But who could it be...a fellow missionary, an upset bus driver, a serial rapist dubbed the "Toy Box Killer" or a gas attendant who told detectives he liked her bicycle.

If Chuy was involved, I don’t know that would be the sort of thing a person would share with a friend. Most friends of killers end up giving interviews like “Paul’s”. The whole “oh he was a great guy and would never do that sort of thing” line is Killer’s friend 101.

The friend said 1 or 2 things that didn't help his friend's case. One being, "Chuy's gonna do what he wants to do in that split second, you know. And there's no plans to it. No thought.." (But yet, he says he's not impulsive?!? 🤨) I wasn't leaning towards Chuy until the ex-girlfriend's comments about the shed, etc. And then her sister's statement saying she thought he had a girl in the shed that looked like Jennifer. That doesn't sound good. It's unfortunate that neither she nor the adult called for help. I really hope that if one of these people know the truth that they find it in their heart to come forward. ** edited to say that there was one other thing that bothered me when I heard it, and that was Chuy remembering her shoes and socks of all things. Not her outfit, which is what you'd think someone would notice if you only had a brief conversation with them.. I can't articulate exactly why it bothered me, but it just made me think that he had to have seen them up close (pulled them off, disposed of them, or something) to remember them so well. Maybe that's a stretch, but it's definitely odd.**
