These fan films are so good. They are so much better than the so-called reboot. What most modern filmmakers don't understand is that we don't need to be inundated with special effects. We just want a good story.

I disagree with the previous comment by Arman. Making special effects in the 1960s style was pure genius. And following the style of the crew of yesteryear a brilliant movie. You could even add new characters that would have been introduced back then, that too is a good idea. Keep up the great work!~~

cant remember if it's a fanfiction or what, but someone wrote that Q and Trelane are related. I'd say that was far more likely than Q and Apollo (one of whom being the God of Thunder or somesuch, the other not played by Michael Forest), and was it Picard who echoed Kirk in saying that Q was one step removed from chaos? Surely both Q and Trelane are the embodiment of anarchic rebellion against a parent who was every bit as unpredictably hyperactive? (I'd like to have closed the Charles Evans story with a link to the Q Continuum, but they already did a better job of writing him out in "Of Gods And Men" than I ever could).

I am only seeing this for the first time in 2020, having had no idea it had been made until now. I read Ms. Maiewski's original story when Bantam published it in their first "New Voyages" collection way back in the 1980s, and I cannot imagine even the original production team at Desilu/Paramount ever having done an adaptation of it for the screen any better than what you've produced here. Thank you all so very much for doing such an incredible job and bringing what is still one of my all-time favorite Star Trek stories to life. Somewhere out there in the final frontier, the Great Bird is smiling.

Both productions were great continuations of TOS. Just wish New Voyages had been able to finish up their run before all the stupid new rules kicked in that pretty much killed Star Trek fan productions of high quality. They still have 3 episodes at least that were filmed but the VFX have not been completed and they can't release them still due to CBS not allowing it. Sucks too because one of the episodes was going to be the late Richard Hatch's last work before he died. I hope they get released eventually one day.

They are not the same! The Spock is not Vulcan. Scotty is just punk. The Doctor out. Their uniform are not fitting. They don't go boldly anywhere maybe to a toilet. The best actor was the girl they were to save and who actually saved the guy, who was acting like a barbarian and I could go on and on. It is done so visibly cheap - it hurts. I still enjoy it but it is not the same it's cheap.

When Spock is first given command, I really felt for him. He didn't want to be captain, he didn't want command. What he wanted was irrelevant. He *was* the captain. A ship must have a captain which is why he pushed it. He knew the crew had to put aside the memory of Kirk to do their jobs properly. If that offended human sensibilities, then too bad, there was no help for it. You could tell by the look on his face that pushing the crew to call him Captain was distasteful for him. But sometimes we have to do the distasteful.

Extremely well written and enacted, great special effects, and strange but refreshing to see a somewhat buff Bones with an out-of-worldly southern drawl. They even had the band of light across Kirk's eyes, but over the entire face rather than just across the eyes like in TOS. You can tell it was deliberate because when the camera angle shifts, that band disappears. It's great that they carry on the style of the end credits superposed on past scenes (and of course, with the characteristic end credit music).

I thought this was the best of the Cawley episodes. Look at the producers and the writer on the credits. It is Star Trek. They know what they're doing because they did it in 1966. This was a story shelved for decades, that didn't get done because the series ended in 69. The supporting cast is very good. The Psychiatrist was excellent. When this aired as Gross' first episode I was hoping James' project and Vic's ST Continues could alternate releases for a few years and give us a fairly consistent look from the two studios and teams. Unfortunately the Axinar/CBS feud emerged and CBS decided to produce Monster Trek into Darkness. What I call "Not Trek" or TINO. The post production on this was very nice with the !multiple heavy cruiser shots, and the performance for Spock and Bones was some of the best in the fan films. Thank you James for having the vision to do this and to bring your team up to a level of professionalism that made it a pleasure to watch. PS: I often wondered if the DS9 episode with Sisko in the past in mental torment was a variant of this old story.

I remember reading the 'psyche hospital' story decades ago in a fan-zine. I thought the story was great. But the 'Star Trek new voyages story was even better!

Damn, I remember this short story. It made me tear up then, and now as well. Kleenix please, and kudos. Only nits were Kirk could not hear his name as James without feeling pain, and recalling the name Edith (Keeler) in his loneliness.

A little ropey in places, but thoroughly enjoyable and enthralling. The lead actors all were excellent. The actor playing Kor was chilling.watching these now reminds me how I felt first seeing ST:TOS 50 years ago.

Kudos to the writers, this was an excellent story. This episode would have fit in perfectly in the original series run. I'm impressed, great work everyone.Just to add, I thought Rivkah Raven Wood's performance was also excellent, I hope to see her in many future projects.

It was a very nice thing to have Amazing Grace sung for Kirk's memorial. It has been a strange transition to get used to these new characters based on the original series, but I'm getting there! Thanks for doing these.

I remember reading this short story when I was a teenager. I thought they did job of recreating it. I no longer have the paperback otherwise I would go back and read it and compare notes.

At least, he didn't running into the Ready Room like Cdr. T'Pol-subbing as captain when Cpt. Archer left to find the Xindi-crying for his loss. I think she had as much Romulan in her Vulcan half as Lt. Saavik had human in hers.

4:58 Admiral to Spock. 'Spock has been missing'. I small hickey in the dialogue. Far from being a criticism, this is great evidence that the production was not blessed with a top-heavy budget. Despite limited resources, these Star Trek adventures are incredible. VERY GOOD. As others have said, the story is more important that other aspects of the production. I personally wish more contemporary productions had less 'polish' and more 'metal' just like Star Trek New Voyages..

Okey, this is just a great episode! Watched it before, but forgot how good it was. The plots have always been good in New Voyages, and so was this time too. Spock (Stacy) and and dr. Hamlin (Rivkah Raven Wood) did professional quality job, could have been in any Hollywood production. Bones (Bond), Kirk (Gross) and Sulu (Theerakulstit) are so good New Voyages is a truly lucky fan production. Admiral Withrow was credible and natural as he is always, and so was dr. Wright in his minor role. I'm ranking episode 3 World Enough and Time as the best New Voyages episode, and IMHO it is among the very best of any Star Trek episodes done by anyone, ever. This can't beat it, but is among the best episodes you have made. Awesome fan production!
