I’m just noticing for the first time that the Jedi Temple on Coruscant really resembles a side view of the “mouse droid” from the Death Star. It’s not a huge revelation or anything, but I like seeing little design cues within IPs.

I do hope they make this sith an apprentice. But not an apprentice that struggles with the light and the dark because that ruins the story of the character. This sith apprentice needs to be locked in with the dark side of the force. Or in other words, a complete badass

Happy Revenge of the Fifth, Meg! Unfortunately, my area only has a few theaters (cinemas) so only The Phantom Menace got re-released around here. When I was a kid, my mother had watched the OT with me, and I treated her to seeing The Phantom Menace for the first time. She doesn't often go to the cinema, so I enjoyed giving her the treat. Amazingly, what impressed her the most was Ahmed Best's performance as Jar Jar Binks - not because of his goofy comedy - she was amazed by his athleticism. She's in her 70s and big on fitness, so I could see that. She was also impressed by the lightsaber fight when I told her the duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul was not sped up, they actually were moving that fast. She enjoyed herself and began asking more questions about the prequel era. Along with catching some of the earliest Clone Wars episodes, which laid so much ground for The Bad Batch, in retrospect, I had a great May the Fourth and am looking forward to more today on Revenge of the Fifth!

Darth Tenebrous is a Bith. The most venerable Bith lived 85 years, but Tenebrous sought immortal life. He could live much longer, so the thought has merit. _The dark side is a pathway to many abilities that some consider to be unnatural._ However, I have doubts his reveal will be in the first season.

The character revealed is training his apprentice, but he can't call her an apprentice, or that breaks the rule of two. The workaround is always "Assassin, etc." and the Jedi kill him and cover it up claiming the master (acolyte) was slain and the apprentice either redeemed or extinguished as well.

Meg, I have so many questions after rewatching The Phantom Menace and then getting an awesome extended cut of The Acolyte's fight between Mae and Indira. Obviously, the scene where Master Mundi mentions that the Sith have been extinct for a millennium is a generalization. But when Qui-Gon is denied permission to train Anakin, he counters the Council with, "Surely, you see that he's the Chosen One". Where and with whom did the Chosen One prophecy originate? If the Jedi have enjoyed Sith-free living for around 1000 years, why is there an imbalance in the Force. Less than a handful of Jedi would have been able to live for a majority of that millennium. Surely, that prophecy would have been dismissed...if it was created before The Acolyte's time period. And also, when Qui-Gon mentioned that to the Council, what was up with that look that Yoda and Mace gave each other? Ahsoka is my favorite Force wielder, because she stood by her principles and walked out of the Order. Pompousness and arrogance are stepping stones to greed and evil. I think The Acolyte is going to be good.

What's the issue with mysterious masked characters? Besides, the same could have been said about Boba Fett for 25 years. I wasn't watching "Ahsoka" or "Bad Batch" to find out who Marrok or Clone X are. Just like I didn't watch ROTJ to find out who Boba Fett was. I think it’s still possible that the Jedi figured the Sith are back in the Acolyte without retconning cannon. The discovery was kept under wraps by a nucleus of the Jedi Order, one of whom is Yoda. And by the time of the Phantom Menace, Yoda is last surviving Jedi who knows, kept the knowledge to himself. Of course, this should be explained.

I just got back from seeing The Phantom Menace in the cinema, and the Acolyte preview at the end looked absolutely brilliant! As a composer I always listen out for what is going on with the score, and the composer has done a stunning job, with what seems to be quite a large orchestra! Reminiscent of the style of the John Williams action-cues in the prequels... I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm worried about this one. Plagueis did have a couple of Dark Sects in the galaxy, but only a few groups, because the less that know about the Sith, the better. I've heard 80 years, and I have heard 100 years before Episode 1 so not sure as to which it is, which doesn't matter. The Sith has to be Tenebrous/Plagueis. There is no leeway or "we felt this" about it. I'm sure that if this doesn't happen, Disney Star Wars will fail even more.

I think it is a dark side practitioner, or at least someone who will appear as such. if the Sith are smart, they use such people to do their bidding, and leaving the Jedi to arrogantly believe that it is all there is: some deluded individual using the dark side, the Jedi might have tangled with the Sith for years and never seen them, or realised what was going on. Even when Qui Gon pushes the evidence in their faces, they don't want to believe it.

So far only Sith and fallen Jedi have had corrupted crystal red sabers. Definitely ways to answer that in a story. Definitely gets fans attention to see how this story will unfold and likely fill in huge fundamental unknowns in disney star wars lore.

Or would they believe that it has to be some dark side practioner, unwisely experimenting with remnant lore of the Sith? I think there are many ways, how the Jedi can talk down the threat, and convince themselves that it is just some misguided individuals. Even when Qui Gon tells the council he fought a sith, he isn't believed.

@@Valandhir Maybe. The possibilities are rich for good to great story telling. The Sith beyond the original Sith race (if that's still cannon) came from the Jedi. For all the good Jedi do, the Sith are the Jedi's original sin. It will likely be difficult for the Jedi to acknowledge a possible Sith presence as it is difficult for them to completely deny the inherent risk of them returning. I think you are right in that it will be similar to what Qui Gon faced with more uncertainty as the Sith are just likely testing the Jedi or maneuvering for power. I would love to see that the Sith are manipulating the Jedi while ultimately not truly revealing themselves as they determine the time is not yet right to seize power. Do the events of The Acolyte lead to some of the weaknesses of the Jedi Order that Palpatine uses to gain power? This show might be the biggest lore drop since disney took over Star Wars answering some of the biggest questions about the Sith and what balance in the Force might be. Do any Jedi or Sith follow the chosen one prophecies in the High Republic? Yoda knew them. Did the HR Jedi think the Force was in balance in their era "without the Sith" or did they not believe the chosen one prophecies? Maybe they thought they didn't have to worry about Sith because there wasn't even an identified chosen one yet. Like the Jedi in The Acolyte era I don't think we will get all the answers to our questions but the ride to understand a little more may be very interesting.

I sometimes wondered whether it was a Sith plant, a piece of manipulation, even as the Jedi thought it was theirs. Which I will admit, is my crazy head working overtime. I am certainly curious about the lore we are going to get.

Yeah, i’m of the mind that the masked villain with the red sabre is the Apprentice, much like when Maul revealed himself. However i don’t think it’ll be with his master’s approval or even knowledge. It appears to me that the guy narrating has a bee in his bonnet about the Jedi, so i’m guessing he is impatient for the end of the Jedi and goes “off message” with his own agenda, for example sending an Acolyte to kill Jedi. I’m not particularly excited for this new story but i’m still going to give it a chance…. because at the end of the day i love SW.

In my Opinion I love this supposly Sith Master design and his mask. It must be remembered that there are Siths who use masks to terrorize their enemies and it also make them looks more badass. Even when Darth Sidious is Darth Vader Master In my Opinion Darth Vader is way more terrifying than his Master not only because of his breathing but also because of his appereance and that legendary mask that shows no emotion. Sidious is worse than Vader even Vader has said it in Return of the Jedi "the emperor is not as forgiving as I am" but Vader is more terrifying in my eyes, Sidious look like a 100+ year old grandpa but powerful. I personally love the Acolyte "Sith Master" design and his mask but ultimately the best Sith with a mask will be Darth Vader not to metion he is my favorite character and Sith Lord from Star Wars. So far with new disney cannon almost only Sith have red lightsabers. If it is an acolyte or sith lord it would still be about the same concern to the Jedi that haven't seen a Sith for about 1,000 years. There is the case of Dagan Gera in the cannon game Jedi Survivor (Googled I haven't actually played it). He is just a Jedi who falls to the dark side but automatically is able to "bleed"/corrupt his saber's crystal to make a red light saber in seconds. Just my opinion but games and comics usually shouldn't be cannon. This makes it odd that Anakin didn't automatically switch his to red saber but maybe part of being a "good" Sith is you have to follow the ritual of killing a Jedi to corrupt their crystal. He could have corrupted the crystal of one of the many younglings he slaughtered. Just sayin. So if the red saber user isn't a fallen jedi that "somehow" inherently knows how to corrupt their crystal then the Jedi would assume they are likely Sith and would have told the Jedi Order that Sith have appeared ... if they survived that is. I'm glad Acolyte will hopefully answer several open lore questions. Hopefully, staying consistent with the movies and shows.

Half a century into the world building of Star Wars and most of the biggest questions have never been fully answered or have never really been answered at all ... or simply because of the transition to new story telling by disney old Legends lore needs to be retold. Four decades of lore building took a temporary step back a decade ago when disney bought star wars and threw out the second and third tier lore now categorized by disney as non-cannon Legends. Also the ideas of the main creator of Star Wars can no longer be considered cannon since star wars is now disney's property. Trying to see the positive, it's an exciting time because disney is known for story telling and has control of one of the most engaging ongoing stories in human history. However, the sequels were disney's first big attempt at star wars and lore consistent good story telling was the weakest part of the sequels for many fans. I think The Acolyte and The High Republic multimedia stories are the most important point so far in disney star wars. The sequels could have been but they confused what disney star wars is more than meaningfully clarifying it IMO. What is the origin of The Chosen One and The Force Unbalanced prophecies? Is Anakin still The Chosen One or is it now Rey? Is the unbalancing of the force still the same as it was in Lucas Star Wars, being caused by the Sith's corrupted use of the Dark Side of the Force? Or was it just one specific Sith named Darth Sideous that unbalanced the Force? What is the disney history of the Sith now that Legends is no longer cannon? If it was the Sith that unbalanced the Force then it was unbalanced for thousands of years ... or at least a 1,000 according to Ki-Adi-Mundi. What do the high republic Jedi know about the Sith and the Chosen One prophacies? That trailer had super mixed receptions, it was 50/50 by the time I watched it. I'm a softcore SW nerd and I can't help it, I'll watch the show no matter what and if indeed it ends up being terrible, I will criticize afterwards.

I don't think nostalgia is what fans love, fans love epic Star Wars, George Lucas Star Wars is timeless, that is what Disney SW didnt understand, with the movies they made stuff just for the moment, they work for the hype.

Take it in, enjoy it. I put Solo as the lowest of lows for DSWU and still watch it regardless. Just learn to enjoy it FFS. The last two Gens of SW fans have really shown the world as a whole. Not all of them are annoying obviously but a ton are. I lost how many years of SW on the whim of Disney and I'm still here watching regardless. So in closing critique is fine, hate is not. I don’t like that they revealed the secret Sith so early. I would prefer that the assassin in the trailers remained the red herring and the true Sith was revealed later during the show.

UNPOPULAR COMMENT Warning here!!! I bet you any money that Darkside figure with the Anime-styled mask/helm is Amandla Stenberg's character. I'll guess she hangs back, allowing her "Master" to escape back into the shadows; while she holds off the Jedi. She will typically be all OP (like REY!!!) and take on all those Jedi, including her old Jedi master. He then asks - "What are you" and once she's defeated, he and the other Jedi there eventually find out when they remove the helmet/mask. So this series will end basically where these Jedi learn "The Acolyte" was indeed one of their own but they don't know who it was who corrupted her. "But of which was destroyed? The Master, or the Apprentice?" And from there this whole event is brushed under the rug by the Jedi Council. Maybe the Sith don't even play into any of this, maybe it's just all that Witch coven that Stenberg's character is from. Lastly Meg i think you might have it abit wrong there, i don't see those two images of Stenberg as twins at all, but just two sides of her. One on the left basked in light, the other she has her assassin look and is in shadow, showing how she's gone all darkside. I'm thinking Stenberg's character is supposed to have somekind of like dyad connection with Dafne Keen's Jedi Padawan, because i remember Leslie Headland saying something about they're like twins, but have a deep connection or something to that affect. Also notice how there's a big push to keep those two separate in all the promo and interviews, although i could be wrong on that one.

I just can not buy The Jedi not detecting Sith given all the force power sensitivity shown in more than on show. There are theories of how Jedi can hide but not in a heavily populated world. I will watch you reports and just lurk. as for the show. I may do it in one batch at the end.

This absolutely is not a Sith. The Sith are typically hiding in plain site. (Maul was clearly a place holder and Sidious planned on replacing him obviously given his hellish appearance.) The Sith of the period of the Acolyte will be coming closer to their execution of their grand plan. It's not likely that there would be an apprentice or master that was hideous or deformed. They would more than likely be operating more out in the open under a dual identity. And why on earth would a Sith Master or apprentice of the era engage in this type of head to head conflict and risk death against so many Jedi? It seems obvious that we are looking at some kind of deception here.

I love Star Wars, but to this day I can't sit through the Phantom Menace. It's so bad I find it unwatchable cringe. I'm really looking forward to this. Even though I'm not into prequels it's far enough back that I hope it really has a different feel than the Skywalker saga.

Jedi aren’t kidnapping anyone, give up this tired narrative please. They lay it out pretty clearly what they are doing, and how they intend to help force sensitive individuals. Leaving them with their families is dangerous for all parties, bad actors will come for them. The Jedi are doing what they felt was best, they aren’t perfect but the system served its purpose for generations.
