When Ahsoka said, “I won’t fight you,” and Anakin responded, “I’ve heard that before.” He’s talking about Luke and I loved that reference. I also loved the part where Anakin did his little flourish. We all know Anakin loved to show off his lightsaber skills, and Hayden still makes it look effortless.

I think that something that went a bit under the radar was Hayden's mannerisms depending on where the character was. When we first see him, Hayden acts like his early ep III self with his dialog and movement. When we get to the clone wars, Hayden changes his speech pattern to match more like Matt Lanter's and move similar to how the show animated him. Then we see him take on his Sith self and it's like we are back on mustafar with the fighting style and dialogue right out of the end of ep III. Hayden did his research and it shows. He is one of the most dedicated star wars fans out there.

It’s jarring when you see ROTS Anakin, but he’s the same person who has all of the experiences of Darth Vader. He comes across as very wise, but also can snap and take matters into his own hands. When he tells Ahsoka, “Back to the beginning,” he portrays himself as Vader then. To try and get her to fight harder. He dominates her easily and only gets what he wants out of her by really making her feel like she’s going to die. He had to become Vader in order to save Ahsoka. The whole thing was really done. And Hayden sells it as Anakin/Vader. The de-aging makes him look the same, but the way he carries himself and speaks is so different.

Anakin could have only taught Ashoka this lesson after his time as Vader, as he really lost his desire to live after the death of Padme. He spent his time as Vader letting go of himself with nothing to live for, allowing the dark side to take over and all life sort of became meaningless to him. It wasn’t until he learned of his son that hope came back to him, and he’s trying to show Ashoka that there is hope for her future too. I don’t think Hera could hear through the force. I don’t think she could hear at all. Huyang only mentioned that Jacen had abilities. When you’re a parent, you can almost just feel your child’s energy. When they are at peace, you are at peace. When they enjoy something, you can feel it and enjoy seeing them enjoy it. When they are in pain you are in pain. She was just vibing and inspired by her son
@AQWorldsRay Жыл бұрын
Yes. Like Theory, I was also sort of pulled back by Hera hearing what Jason hears, but then I rationalized that Hera has a strong connection to Jason because it's her son, and because of that connection, Jason can make his mom hear what he hears through the force. So no, Hera is not hearing through the force, instead Jason is allowing his mom to hear what he is hearing. This would make sense. Allowing force users (e.g. Jason) and non-force users (e.g. Hera) that are connected by blood to allow glimpses into the force really makes sense and upholds that there's no way Hera could ever tap into the force on her own.

However most don't believe in the force and so they are not open to using it, while others may use it to some extent without acknowledging that they are using the force but rather just think they have "natural" talents and skills. It might have something to do with what makes Hera such a great pilot!!

I'm going to agree with some of the other comments that Hera did hear because of Jacen's ability in the Force. Almost like like form of Force telepathy/empathy/presence. Kylo and Rey were able to share each other's experiences to a greater degree because of the Force dyad. Just like Anakin was able to feel his loved ones pain, a Force user could possibly work this connection in reverse... share their senses/experiences. So only because Jacen's power was Hera able. She normal would be closed to the Force. A great use of the power of love opening possibilities in the Force. "... It binds the galaxy together"

I loved all the small details in this episode. Anakin’s voice blending with Vader’s modulated voice when he says, “You lack conviction,” was perfection. I knew we would get Clone Wars flashbacks, but to see the Siege of Mandalore and Mauldalorians was a surprise to be sure. As for her “winning” the fight, the point wasn’t about winning or losing. Anakin was teaching her his final lesson which is to overcome her guilt. This wasn’t the Force or her mind telling her to live, it was Anakin reaching out to her. The lesson was for her to embrace her legacy and realize that she is more than her mistakes, just like Anakin. As Luke says, “Always get back up.” Her surviving underwater can easily be explained as she was in a Force Trance. Even the most mediocre Jedi on the brink of death are capable of amazing things through the Force. I have a strong feeling this isn’t the last we see of Anakin in this series. I’m still hoping for a Luke conversation, but this episode was just as great at the last one. I hope it keeps that momentum going forward!

This episode and series has actually really made me appreciate Ashoka and Anakin and what beautiful characters they are. To see a young teenage Ashoka fighting in war actually makes you realise she was 14 when she started fighting in the Clone Wars. Also I never realised before how obvious it was that Anakin was just destined to become Vader. Vader wasn’t born on the night he betrayed Mace Windu and pledged himself to the Sith. He was born and thrived on the bloody battlefields of the Clone wars. It makes you realise that Anakin was always going to become Vader, regardless of what anyone tried to do, he loved battle, violence and victory. Star Wars actually is a beautiful piece of Machiavellian art when it’s viewed from this level. Plagius and Sidious’s plan was so beautiful in its sinister simplicity and design. It’s evil as hell but it plays on the flaws of all sentient beings. Ashoka is a child soldier overcoming extreme PTSD and trauma from losing so much. It may be a space opera but it’s still really hard hitting. The acting from Hayden Christensen was just phenomenal, he’s studied Matt Lanter’s delivery of lines and has blended the styles beautifully. Ariana Greenblatt as young Ashoka legit made me cry when she was comforting the injured clone and questioning the loss of so many of her men. Rosario Dawson has been such a soldier following Filoni’s instructions to be so melancholy for the first 4 episodes. I’ve always loved her as an actress, she’s awesome, I was really pissed at Star Wars fans attacking her. I know she will now bring that cheeky, funny beautiful energy to adult Ashoka now she is free of her guilt. Dave Filoni you have single handedly restored my faith in the direction of Star Wars. My favourite part of the episode was Anakin flickering between himself and Vader it just blew my mind that I’d never seen that Vader was always there right in front of you always. You are the Heir to the Empire, please keep this beautiful storytelling coming. I haven’t felt this way since the credits rolled on ROTS in 2005. Not to say that the other shows haven’t been good. But that was the closest I’ve felt to George Lucas cinematic Star Wars I really wish I’d watched it in a cinema. Just unbelievable, Star Wars is back baby, Let Dave Cook, that kitchen of dreams is smelling divine🙏👍❤️

At 5:17 you can see Ahsoka and Anakin are standing in shallow water in the world between worlds. I was thinking about the scene with Jacen hearing the World between Worlds and Hera, and I think the implication from Jacen "guiding" Hera with his words was that he was actually "dialing her in" through his own Force powers, kind of using his ability to call out as Luke did to Leia before Leia began her training. Through this telepathy, he was more "sharing his experiences" than it was that she was hearing it on her own.

Nope. Leia was force sensitive - and massively so. She was a skywalker after all. Hera should have heard nothing and just trusted her son's sensitivity. That would have made way more sense

Hayden was amazing. Given several things in the episode, I believe it's genuinely Anakin, not anything else. When Anakin greets Ahsoka, he tells her regarding her fight with Baylon, "Trust me, you lost". Sounds like Anakin was actually watching Ahsoka from the World Between Worlds in that moment. I think he's the one who pulled her into the World Between Worlds when she went into the ocean. I think a portal was opened in the ocean to the World Between Worlds, and remained open for the duration of Ahsoka's experience. That's why Jacen could sense and hear their lightsaber dual so easily. Also at the end, when Anakin says "There's hope for you yet", right before vanishing, there's a sound from above the water, which was Hera's ship and the X-wings. I noticed Anakin looked up toward that direction just prior to disappearing. Ahsoka also fully turns around to look up toward the noise. When Anakin is gone, she is then transported back into the ocean. That's why I feel it may have been Anakin who brought her into the World Between Worlds and returned her back., as well as bringing her back into the Clone Wars moments, he seemed to be controlling where they went.

I liked the lightsaber choreography. Its like a mix of the originals and prequels. Very samurai/ronin like but also has some flair. More realistic but still epic and most importantly powerful. I'm not saying Gillard couldn't choreograph like the director wants, but I think this style is the best we've gotten.
@AdamRice9740 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, and the power of the saber clashes and swings between characters(including the fight between Baylan and Ahsoka) hold an emotional weight that the prequels didn’t quite capture imo. I LOVE the prequel choreography but they were more technical and precise, which I don’t think quite matches the atmosphere of this show. We won’t even talk about the sequel choreography, it lacked all subtlety and form except for Kylo’s technique which actually was decently compelling.
@aaravrekhi2990 Жыл бұрын
For me, the choreography wasn't as good as the prequels obviously, but it was still great. I think one important thing is that they don't have to emulate the prequels in every way. They can take things in a different direction and it works well here. Plus, Hayden's movements as Anakin reminded me more of the animated version from the Clone Wars show, voiced by Matt Lanter.@@AdamRice9740

I got so emotional during this episode. While I know we were all speculating that a young Ahsoka would show up at some point and we even got a confirmation at some point, but it was incredible what they did with a younger version of Ahsoka. I was shocked that I started to actually cry. Seeing the clones in live action and our favorite jedi chaos duo was amazing. Seeing the bond that Ahsoka shared with the clones as she placed her hand on the injured man and him placing his hand on her in return. I cried and I'm not ashamed. That bond meant so much to her and I know if I was in her place that I would hate to see the men that fought beside every day get injured or die in battle. As much as she cared for them, she had to basically live with the fact that most of them would die at some point. It's a horrible thought and existence if you think about it. Later we see a live action version of the Siege of Mandalore and I lost it! The Maul loyalists and Rex.😭 Our boy Rex actually got some lines and I was so happy! It was great seeing scenes I never thought I'd see in a live action show. The fight scenes between Ahsoka and Anakin were really interesting to watch, though I'm with you Theory in that we should have had Nick Gillard as the fight choreographer. It would have been so much better. COMMENT BELOW IF YOU AGREE THAT NICK GILLARD SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHER. Overall, amazing show. Dave Filoni just keep proving himself as our Star Wars hope for amazing shows that stay with real George Lucas storyline.

You can have some Force Sensitivity and they can have some Force Sensitivity and Everyone can have some Force sensitivity because why not? The Force is in everything, yes. I personally thought that when Anakin said "I've heard that one before", he was actaully refrencing the moment in Rebels when Ahsoka told Vader/Anakin she would not fight him.
