Me, too! I like the unexpected and "creative" color palettes. Then, of course, I must consider which person would actually enjoy receiving an unconventional card. :) .

I usually go traditional in my colors but it also depends on what the image is that I am putting on my card. Coloring snowmen hats, mittens and scarves calls for using all different colors. I am going to use the Noel die for my Christmas cards and stamp a nativity scene in the center of the O. Thanks for another great video Jill!

I have a tendency to go more traditional, but with watching some of your videos, I think I'm going to try mixing it up. I like old-fashioned Christmases and I think using watercolor and light traditional color gives it a bit of an antique look whereas maybe 'mixing it up' with different brighter colors gives it a little more modern look. Your fussy cutting is impressive and your coloring and creativity is always beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Traditional hues for me but since watching your videos and seeing what seems to be a newer version of hues that people choose, I have mixed it up a bit but I find traditional are still what I go to. Definitely not traditional Christmas colors. But something with shine to it. Using antique embossing powders and distressing the paper to give it a more vintage feel. I’ve also found a glaze that I will rub on with my finger, heat and buff. It adds more of a subtle shine as well with out overpowering the card.

I look forward to the morning notifications that a new ‘12 days of Christmas’ tutorial is available! I watch them during my lunch break. To help save postage cost, if non-machinable butterfly stamps are needed, do you suggest leaving off the foam tape? It does create a nice presentation , but if left off, will it still create a “wow” factor?
@PennyBlackInc Жыл бұрын
Awh! Thanks for having lunch with me, Lynne! The card will still definitely have a wow factor without the foam tape for sure. You can even have the focal point image peeking out from inside the "o" instead of over it. :)

Jill do you create your own sketches or do you pull them from the net? This set of cards turned out so pretty. The little bear on the sled is my fav. TFS.
@PennyBlackInc Жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking, Tammy! I create my own sketches based on cards I've done that I was really happy with how they turned out or based on designs I find myself returning to again and again.

Superb cards! I love this sketch as I can use it on the other PB word dies! Question tho: sometimes you use Bristol smooth watercolor paper & sometimes it’s Carson 100 lb. How do you choose which to use?
@PennyBlackInc Жыл бұрын
Great question, Joan! Both are okay for watercoloring depending on your personal preference (I share more about them in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ-yo3l_q8tjjbc ) BUT if I am stamping a brushstroke/silhouette stamp like on day #3 of this series OR if I am using markers directly to the paper like on day #2 of this series, then I prefer Bristol. For pretty much everything else, I use Canson. Hope that makes sense.

Once again, food for thought…lovely cards. I didn’t get the Noel immense die but did get the Joy one, so I will have to try that one. Also have the embossing folders…I like the fact that they are so generic you could use them on any card. Tried my hand at the Santa mug yesterday…first one was too heavy handed with the ink from the re-inkers, so tried again with a lighter hand. This is really the first time I have tried serious water coloring, so I need practice, practice, practice. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us…Joy
