Definitely YES on the patchwork tote bag. AAAAHHH! Those Star Wars sheets are GORGEOUS! I would have definitely bought those too! Can't fault you there Whitney! I have been sewing my stash lately too. I would like to try a "paper doll quilt" soon. Would love to see your take on a project like that. WHAT? Free clothing and linens? How awesome is that! The thrift stores where I live are getting ridiculously expensive. Thankfully my mom has lived here in Santa Barbara for 65+ years and knows a lot of people so when I need stuff she asks her friends and usually something turns up!

I've never heard of that kind of quilt. I'll have to look it up. I hate that thrift prices are so high in other areas! I used to live near a really great thrift shop that had a half price day. We moved 45 minutes away, but I still make the drive on occasion because the prices are SOOOO good on half price day.

@@Whitney_Sews Thanks so much for answering my comments Whitney, you are very kind and it helps me not be so lonely. Sewing does that for me also. Paper doll quilts are adorable. You make a quilt with a paper doll motif or applique in the middle then make clothing and shoes and stuff that can be CHANGED! It is a really cute idea I just need to find the time. I have a grandaughter now, so maybe that will motivate me!

I love seeing what you come up with from your stash and thrifting, and how you upcycle things! I didn't know about the sew-your-stash challenge, but I too decided last week it was time to use up some of my stash and ended up making two large tote bags and four zipper pouches, and several snap purses. Two of the zipper pouches were for a friend's birthday that I had just learned about the day prior. I used your video on the simple method with the French seams and modified it with zipper tabs on the zipper ends, and also decided I needed to finish the raw edges under the zipper tape, so on the third and fourth zipper pouch I hemmed those edges to give them a better finish. When I get a chance I'll post some pictures. Thanks for your videos. I always love seeing what you are up to.

Hi! I'm the viewer that sent you the spools of bias tape. So glad you found a use for some of it. I used several spools of it back when we were making masks. I made sooo many, (over 1800), I hope I never have to make another one! So sorry you had "the plague." I had it almost two years ago. It put me in the hospital for eight days. Thanks for showing your makes. You put a lot of thought ( and work) into each one.

Thanks for commenting! I was trying to remember your name last week and it just wasn't coming to me. I hope you have been doing well! That's amazing you made that many masks! I made about 650 then had to stop because I just couldn't bring myself to make any more.

Enjoyed your sewing. Have ever recycled much using old crochet items. I also have a lot of linen dresser scarfs. And a few tableclothes ( I saw how you used today)

No, I don't have any old crochet items, so I've never upcycled anything like that.

Truly an inspiring video! I’ve been kind of considering giving up sewing due to minor pain issues and a general lack of motivation but I honestly have to say, seeing you back on KZbin and seeing all the things you made is helping me slowly get my mojo back! While sewing and watching your video, I was inspired to make a very simple “dusting glove” out of a leftover piece of cloth instead of just tossing it. Now I have some other new ideas and am also even in the mood to make progress on my ( 2 year old 🤣) small English paper pieced Christmas quilt! TFS 👍🏾!

I hope you stick with sewing, but in a way that doesn't make your pain worse! I have a lot of different pain issues which is one reason I like to have so many types of projects going. Foundation paper piecing (the quilt coat project) has me twisting to use the iron a lot, so I can only do it when my back is feeling great. Otherwise I have to work on something that doesn't need to be pressed as often. The English paper piecing can be done in bed when my back/legs are really bothering me. Anyway, I hope you find what works best for you!

I occasionally can't muster up my mojo for sewing but, it comes back after a while. (this time it was 6 months) I've had seven back operations so I totally agree with you. Don't get discouraged after a while it will come back to you. I t may take a while but you will enjoy it again. Happy sewing!

@@patbowman6723 Thanks for your encouraging words. While I truly do love sewing and being creative, it helps to know that others sometimes feel discouraged with this hobby, too. Hope you are pain free and happy sewing to you as well!

@@Whitney_Sews Thanks for your response! I’m sorry to hear that you have lots of pain issues. I admire how much you get accomplished and I, too, have different projects for different “pain days”. I try to stand and stretch more, drink more water, and also use a few black roll items and heating pads for the pain. I wish you tons of pain free, productive, creative days in the future!

I like to use felted sweaters to make insoles for our rubber boots - keeps your toes nice and toasty in the winter! Maybe you could use some of your scraps for that?
