Honesty, I can understand how Stacci feels. My wedding was local and I had a close friend talking about how excited she was for the wedding. Then, the week of I get a message from her saying she wasn't coming. It hurt my feelings, and honestly, even a few years later, I'm still a bit bitter about it because I thought our friendship meant more. I have only heard from her one other time since then asking for advice on something and then radio silence again.

She was in a job she liked, had met a guy she was in love with (they are moved in together now), going out and doing things often with certain people. I think it was because my wedding was around her birthday. I didn't even think of it when I was setting the date and when I realized I actually messaged her months in advance and said "if you guys have plans for your birthday or think you will and can't come I TOTALLY understand." I gave her ample opportunity to say she wasn't coming, and she kept saying no, they were definitely coming, and she was excited. She claimed they both had to work the weekend of my wedding, but I'm almost positive they decided to do something for her birthday instead. I also wasn't the one who backed off from the friendship. We had already started to drift once she met this guy and started spending all her time with him. Look, I'm super happy she found her person. She went through a lot in life and deserves that happiness, I just wish she had gone about this whole thing differently.

I had gone to my other grandmas open casket funeral when I was 10 yrs old at a really difficult time in my life my parents were going through an awful divorce my father was extremely abusive and it was extremely traumatic. I couldn’t get myself to leave LA, fly to CT just to put myself through that feeling again even as an adult. I was dealing with so many personal issues also at the time, was literally using substances and battling an ED. Sometimes no one knows how bad it actually is behind closed doors.

@jenniferblair2049 I'm sorry it happened to you as well. It's sad how often this seems to happen. I was actually just talking about this happening with a close friend who was also friends with the person who bailed and had actually come to my wedding. She was also still annoyed. I would have been totally fine if she was just honest up front or there was an emergency or something, especially where I gave her multiple opportunities to say "I can't make it" if that was the case. I just feel like friends should respect each other more than that.

@TheoreticallyC00l I agree 👍. I just don't remember him as much as I remember Shannon's reactions to and about him. She started when she was working on the marriage, and he wanted to renew their vows so he surprised her with a renewal ceremony and they had a little bit of time where she was feeling good about their marriage. Then he just couldn't deal with her still feeling insecure and then he started pulling away and eventually had another affair. I don't remember him yelling and threatening her . That's just me and my memories. However, obviously 🙄 he's really got issues !!

I'm just now realizing that he probably was, and that's exactly why she wasn't coming off so well or being frazzled often. I've been emotionally abused by a man and I was having panic attacks, depression and when overwhelmed because your "partner" is just making life so hard I've been frazzled too. So perhaps that's why she looked that way when she started and then the whole time she was with him.

Have you ever had a wedding? You have a guest list that you are going to be paying per person for dinner. Two people drop out, you are paying for those two dinners. Imagine if 4 couples didn't come at the last minute.... that at least $400-$1000 you have to pay for people who don't show up. A couple of people could have stepped into those seats had they told her sooner.

It’s called a destination wedding where advanced notifications of the number of guests attending is a prerequisite in preparation for lodging, food, & etc. $$’s are paid in advance by the wedding party. I mean this is kind of a no brainer really. Be considerate enough to the Bride & Groom to not waste their time or $$ - if you aren’t gonna go.. grow up.. be honest.. simple!
