This is part four in a state by state rockhounding series, covering Tennessee. There are a lot of very interesting localities and minerals that come from them. Also I neglected to mention in the video but the state fossil can be found in the sedimentary outcroppings around the state but predominantly on the Western side. So any of the eroded areas near the Mississippi, limestone, shale, etc can produce them. You may even find them in gravel bars. But please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing. It tremendously helps with the channel. You can also find me below at these various links: Website: mooneyfinemineral.com Patreon: www.patreon.com/mooneyfinemineral Discord Server: discord.gg/fbWpvnDXuK E-mail: j.m@mooneyfinemineral.com Mineral of the Month Club: mooneyfinemineral.com/products/mooney-fine-mineral-of-the-month-club Do you want to look for gems, minerals, fossils, and crystals? And you happen to be in or visiting Tennessee? Check out this video. There are beautiful quartz and agate specimens, garnets, and so much more!

For anyone interested: There are some beautiful plant fossils embedded into shale all along the big soddy creek trail (but especially as you make your way up to board camp creek). There are specimens everywhere. :0) Edit to add: Big Soddy Creek is in Soddy Daisy - about 20 miles outside of Chattanooga. 🎩

Being from Tennessee all my life Geodes and Agate are everywhere. Probably the most common stones aside from " Indian money." Nearly any river ir creek you can find some sort of gemstones and contrary to popular belief gold is in way more than just Coker creek. You can find it also in Hickman County by Duck River and Morgan and Dry creeks, I've panned there successfully many many times

I am looking forward to Pennsylvania, for reasons of I live there! This is a really cool series, James, and I appreciate the huge amount of research that must go into each video. 😁

Just a minor vent here...James does put a massive amount of work in these series. Without breaking down the pacing, graphics, and all that stuff, they really are SO good. But does the algorithm care? No. But exploit infant animals and BOOM!!! Views galore! I do believe good things do come to those who work hard. He damn sure does. He's gonna get there. Our Karma is straight up dead.

Only 6 months? Really?? Geez its like you have a life or something 🙄 😂 I had to look up blue calcite. Pretty! And that purple one from The Elmswood blah blah blah mine had that gorgeous blue when you held it to the sun! I'm always stunned with what cameras CAN pickup. Loved it as always Rockdaddy!

Once I was in Tennessee on the highway for hours bc of a chemical spill in an accident, prolly spent 12 hours in a 1 mile long road cut off the side of a mountain n saw some crazy stuff you don’t notice bc it’s a place you couldn’t safely slow down enough to explore, wish i had a camera

Ben Lomond like Loch Lomond? Think that's only the second time ever I've heard 'Lomond' (first being the Scotish location). Weird both occurred June of this year to boot. Though I'm now debating if I'm morbidly curious enough to look up how freshwater/river pearls are formed, nicely done, good balance of info imo as someone who's never been to TN. (Thanks for spelling out the fossil name, and I got both the 30m warning and on time notifs btw)

And possibly grouchy old(ish) person moment, like why do people put that kinda stuff on social media? Like great evidence for authorities but yeesh what ever happened to self preservation 🤦 (I'll go back to telling people to stay off my lawn now)
