Know this is an old video, but just wanna say how much I appreciate these base guides! Just got into state of decay and I definitely prefer to choose my bases on looks. Need a good homey feel to them. Many other reviews focus solely on the strategy and lot layouts without doing a good run through of the base visuals.

Hey I love how you figured out how to dispatch a single (and up to about 3) zombies that attack. I love the "Dodge towards them to confuse them and get behind them to execute them" tactic. It has helped SOOOO much with saving durability of my melee weapons, saved time vs just hacking and slashing them, and it builds fighting and wits fast. Thank you so much for that.

Great video! Heres a little extra info for anyone about the the strip mall home base the liquor store is clearable and gives you items for doing so, the urgent care needs to be cleaned up before using it, also there's no slots on the roof which seemed very wasteful to me.

I've been pretty happy with Mike's Concrete, everything automatically having power is just such a big boon. Add in the 4 parking spots with a central location it's super easy go gather 3 cargo vans and 1 SUV and store so many extra rucksacks that you can just top off from the parking lot.

The two seating areas in the Wheelhouse Truck Stop provide 3 open slots iirc. Also, the alcohol store in the Barricaded Strip Mall is a clearable location, granting another small slot just like the laundromat.

Hey, just wanted to follow up on the information about the drive-in theater base. You can repair the theater equipment and make it operational. Once repaired, it functions as a lounge slot and allows you to activate a handful of morale-related activities, one of which is an activity called Movie Night. Unfortunately, this activity doesn't actually play a movie on the huge screen at the edge of your base while supplying its buffs/debuffs.

Excellent Video, you have an interesting play style, always dodge and kill from behind. I usually try to get 2 or more characters with swordplay, and then swipe the legs of large mobs of zombies and deal with them at my leisure.

CollectvlyUnconsious sword play is a powerful skill to grab. Max lvl swordplay lets kill zombies that are standing, and I dont mean from behide or laying down

I am new to sod2 and I am OBSESSED! I’ve been on this map with a few of my communities, I’ve started over a few times as I learned more about how the game works and lost some important people. I think going forward I’m gonna play the preview through to chose where I go to play the others a bit more. The strip mall is my favorite base by far of all the maps! I still have several to play yet though. The roof is awesome, I just wish it was easier to get a good shot at zoms beneath it. My group insists on having a watch tower and outdoor beds everywhere we go anyway 🙄 so two small slots went to that. I kinda wish I had a corner small slot for that but being in the middle outdoors gives another good viewpoint. I’ve also spent quite a bit of time at mikes concrete. I use the fuel storage as a sniper tower/safe zone. I love this game!!! I am looking forward to the drive in and the container fort! As I’m learning the game I’ve realized it makes sense to go in somewhat of an order to allow good location to loot and move on. Of corse I’m going backwards by having a large community just because and picking the larger bases as they were cool and I had the large number of members. I’m learning, while at the strip mall, sometimes it’s important to be more selective on who I recruit and just started to excile when needed. I realized this one guy kept instigating fights numerous negative morale points on all the people, was noisy +2 zombie threat points AND he was wasting food! I found I was always scavenging for food rucksacks with 2 food outposts! Since getting rid of him, no food issues and morale is up! Lesson learned! What are the main fixed skills you look for what you start a community? Can you (if you haven’t already) do a video on that preference? I’m newly subscribed and binging your content lol What are the best trainable skills? And the extras and personality traits? I feel like the ones that give benifit to the entire base are more worthwhile at the moment. Also, I’d love to see what you feel facilities should be set up at each base to best set it up so ya don’t need to constantly be scouting to run the base. I look forward to your content!!! Costs of resettlement tells you which bases are the best. 3500 are the top tier ones. There's little use for other places outside of "I really want that to be my base". Like that bridge in the Hills map. That one is awesome.

Nice tour. I think I am leaning towards the strip mall for my first play through. My concern would be it is on the edge of the map, so it may make travelling more demanding.

Just make your Outposts at each edge of the map and equally far from each other so you have access to supply locker on big journeys.

Hey brother one hint when it comes to this starting house in Drucker County is that it seems that 90% of the time you get a new car to spawn close to the house by the 3 houses close to the starting house, the other 2 maps starting houses don't have that :)

Ahren Starr Dont waste your outposts on water and power. They require a lot of influence and they use fuel every day. Build a still to collect water, it doesnt require any fuel. And build a solar array for power, it provides power for your whole base and doesnt use any fuel

The best way is to finish the builder legacy so you have access to power & water for all of your future bases.

I use the cabins great base I have 8 survivors but so far from everything they need to add a fast travel between bases 3500 influence is a bit tough to get for a second base but I'm working towards the mall for my third

Also one notice... if you end one story mode with a community you can choose 3 character of the previous communities... but be sure to have them fully equipped they keep items on them... but you lose every item in your supply crate.

Drucker county is probably the best map with the best bases my favourites are military base and barricaded strip mall. But the annoying thing is that some of the outposts aren’t properly barricaded the zombies can just climb the wall.

I would like to start a new game without playing the tutorial in order to get more appealing character options.. and because I want to start with a smaller group :) However.. every time I start a game without playing the tutorial the game puts me in Meagher Valley. Do you have an idea how I can start a new game on one of the other two maps? All your characters apparently wear hoddies, so I assume you've skipped the tutorial as well. There is probably a menu or something I overlook all the time..

The map choice that it puts you on is completely random, I just kept re rolling communities till it put me on the different maps, as far as I can tell there is no direct way to choose.

I have a bug in my 2nd game playing in the drucker county map, which is not letting me set up my base in the 3,5k influence (Mall) base. Everytime I go in there it says that this base can be claimed but at the spot where u are supposed to claim it, I can only find an accessible supply locker (Even on the first time I went there without ever being there before there was a supply locker that I could access for some reason). For some reason in the same game my community size is limited to a max of 9. I had this in my first game towards the end aswell, even tho at one point in the beginning I had 11 guys to my name. Has anyone found any fixes for such bugs? If so please let me know.

Because it has the theatre in built you can't build the lounge as it serves the same function.

If you start a game after completing the tutorial, you will get three characters. I spent quite a bit of time cycling through to farm a balanced team I liked to start. I knew I would be starting a garden from my pre-order gifts, so I preferenced someone with gardening and someone with medicine. After that I looked for increased health stats and a good distribution of the core four stats is possible. I like having at least one good fighter and someone with some shooting. I wasn't sure how much value there were in other skills like poker face, movie trivia, political science, etc. so I skipped those for now.

King Jay I’m using mikes concrete. It’s in a great location and has awesome slots . I got the field hospital, forge, watchtower, garden , and beds. Plus the stuff it comes with . It even has 4 parking spots

Why doesn't anyone on KZbin for how to state of decay 2 videos never show or tell you about quick finishing zombies. Instead grabbing from behind throwing zombie face down then mounting his back and slice through the neck. Instead just grab from behind and quick finish with a head popping stab with k-bar or screwdriver. The thing I'd I'm on Xbox so I had to go into controls an bind a button for quick finisher
