Hello, I visited Ecuador in April 2022. My mainstay was in Quito, a historic and beautiful city, full of charms. I also visited the Amazon and Otovalo. What a beautiful country, Ecuadorians are gracious and friendly people. I felt like I stepped back in time when things are still innocent. That experience in Ecuador brought peace and tranquility in my life. Thank you Ecuador!

Thanks for the update Luis. Keep them up! You provide a valuable, honest, and factual view of the situation through the eyes of a native Ecuadorian in Cuenca. I would like to see more videos on Cuenca! - daily life, costs, neighborhoods, parks, historical district, museums, impact of expat population (could add coffee shop interviews?), things to visit off the beaten path, etc.

Hello from el mariscal in Quito. I went to el teleferiQo today. I saw nothing out of the ordinary. I did see one major intersection with the presence of military personnel. Life goes on in Quito.

This just breaks my heart. I spent 3 months there last year and fell in love with Ecuador. I am putting off my trip back but I intend to return. When I do I will be looking for a meaningful way to make some kind of a contribution there. Make some kind of a difference. If anyone knows of opportunities to do service work there I would love to hear about it.

Have you watched Capture Joseph videos? This is a British guy who lived here for a while and made many videos of NGOs in the city. There are several institutions that are trying to help, like Hogar Esperanza.

Really enjoying these updates and getting to take a look around Cuenca Luis, keep it going! I saw a post on X (Twitter) of a UPC in Quito getting shot up, it’s crazy stuff how different things can be in two different cities and also how crazy it is that Quito is slowly starting to feel like an unfortunately unsafe place. Also, I actually recorded yesterday at the park, didn’t get offered candy but some kids tried copying my English lol
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting, GM! Yes, Quito is the capital, so it is more of a target too. About the kids, at least you had some fun! 🤣

Another great video! My good friend and I are headed to Cuenca from Canada for 6 days on February 8 as we travel to a few places throughout Ecuador over 3 weeks time. I’m glad to hear things are still peaceful and hopefully this will be just the start of good things going forward for the people and the whole country of Ecuador.

@@luisofecuador oh my gosh I loved Cuenca. Carnival was great. Nothing out of control. We met some wonderful people while out on our walks. We walked a lot!! The weather was warm, the food was great and safety was not a concern. We ventured out on the Tranvida by ourselves and did a couple tours. I truly am looking forward to being able to 6 months a year there. Thank you for your enquiry and I’ll continue to watch and learn from your videos 😊

Spent a couple weeks in Ecuador in May/June 2022 with my wife (who was born & raised in a town about an hour north of Guayaquil), her sister, and her brother-in-law. I hadn’t been to Ecuador in 10 years…but it was my 6th visit to the country (1st visit was in 1993-work-related, when I was in the US Army). During the most recent trip, we spent most of our time around Guayaquil-Samborondon and Via a la Costa. We traveled via car (I drove) to Cuenca for 3 days, Salinas for a day, Olon/Montanita for 2 days, and Colimes & Balzar-a couple of day trips.

Hi Luis, nice to see you commenting on Ecuador's challenges. My main worry is the degree to which Ecuador has been corrupted- that is the courts and legal system. The mafias know how to ruin a country for their own purposes, and it seems that Ecuador is in a fight to clean up, to some extent. Also, I agree with you, the youth need more education and opportunity to resist temptations! Best to you all
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
Hi James. Yes, it is correct, the problem is big because corruption has some roots in many institutions, but I think that with will and technology this can be easily overcome. It has already happened in other places, plus good people are the most. 🙏

Yes, and that is why I think the former president should be prosecuted. He had been warned, and he could do something but simply allowed criminality to rise and criminal groups to turn stronger!

Thanks, Luiz. So, how is Cuenca regarding LGBT?
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
You are welcome, Dennis. This would require a video on its own. I can add it to a list of upcoming videos, and I would need to find some people to help talking from their own experience. But all I can say from my POV is that Cuenca is more open every year. Cuencanos are very catholic, plus we are a sociedad machista like almost all of Latin Americans, but the situation improves year after year and we even now have LGBT pride parades in the pride month.

Do you suppose that there is any commonality between what you’re seeing and the US invasion that is supposed to begin in your specific area and trail through to the US? This is discussed further by the Muckrakers on KZbin.

I would say it is a similar situation here now because tourists won't go to the most troubled areas that are not tourist. The only tourist spot that is to be avoided 100% at the moment is Esmeraldas (the whole province, including Atacames). Hopefully all of the country can have peace soon.
