Depends on where you live as far as the hospitality goes. Have lived here for 10 years, when I was injured while trying to get onto a bus, and fell in the street, NO ONE came to help me.

Thanks Luis. I live near Quito and it feels reasonably safe. It feels like most countries in that, some place are dangerous while most, if done with awareness, are fine.

Thanks for the update! I've just subscribed. Although at the moment I'm not in Ecuador, I keep telling people not to believe in what they see in the headlines. Ecuador is a beautiful country and most of its parts are absolutely safe. I hope the tourism will recover soon! Big hug to all the people of my favourite South American country! Que viva Ecuador! ❤🇪🇨

I am very impressed with what Noboa has done. I am upset by the exaggeration of American media. Ecuador is not the most dangerous country in the world. It is safer than what I experienced in New York for 42 years. The homicide rate last year in Cuenca was 20 that's very low. The crime is in isolated locations just like in the US. I feel very safe here. Nice video Luis very informative.

Hello, how long you live in Cuanca? I was going to go there in March. What would you tell me, shoul I wait?
@lvovodessa8 ай бұрын
Cuenca’s crime rate is comparable to the crime rate in NYC. Cuenca’s and NYC’s homicide rates are about 4 I believe. That’s still high compared to Asia and Europe, but low compared to the average in the Americas.

Greetings from Quito, Ecuador!! This country is going down the tubes. Noboa's "state of war" has been successful in reducing gang violence, but is asfixiating the already-beaten economy. Most people have just stopped going out and travelling due to the curfews. In addition the government fired lots of temporary employees and increased taxes!!! So, unemployment is soaring. No wonder lots of Ecuadorians are emigrating. According to recent polls, half the population would flee the country if they had enough money to pay the coyoteros.

Your friend is incorrect about your president announcing what he was doing. His going public likely saved lots of tourist lives AND gave locals some sense of hope that things would change for the better. Not going public could have resulted in widespread tourist taken hostage or murdered ruining ecuadors international reputation. With any increase in the level of security comes new taxes. I disagree with other policies of your president bu this one he got right.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. That is a good point. I think that at least the world now knows we are doing something about crime, and if we do it well in about 6 months people will know that we certainly improved.

To say 'your risk is about zero' is quite misleading. Risk of what? Be specific.
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
I agree, but I would say that he means the risk of being murdered/shot is about zero. Yes, you may get pickpocketed or robbed, and chances for that are low, but not about zero.

So how are all the people going to live with out the drug money...sell sacks of bananas on the corner?
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
I was wondering if this was an actual thing, if that money was actually already supporting a big part of the economy. I would like more research on this, but I find it difficult that someone will speak about it in case it actually shows people that the drug money supports their lives. Too risky.

I arrived in Vilcabamba when the emergency measures began. My Airbnb host told me that he and several of his friends were considering traveling to the US border to enter and work. I found this amazing. I guess there are NGOs funding this effort.
@riodejaneiro47938 ай бұрын
Those NGOs are funded by the US government
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
Yes, pretty common. And there are not any NGOs funding people to travel illegally to the US, but there are NGOs assisting people all along the road with food or with legal assistance if they are asylum seekers.
@jerrygarcia43908 ай бұрын
@@luisofecuador get real, though. EVERYONE is claiming that they are asylum seekers (which is total 🐂 💩). It’s an economic asylum. Sadly, the reality will be harsh for them as the US economy continues to crumble by design. The current federal reserve has “printed” 80% of ALL historic printed dollars. Let that sink in! There shall be serious consequences.

, Hi, I want to come in April, will it be OK to travel to Ecuador? Any special requirements?
@luisofecuador8 ай бұрын
Hello Yvonne. I would say yes. The requirements would vary according to your nationality. For example, a US citizen does not need anything if flying to Ecuador with their US passport, but a Venezuelan citizen will first need to get a Tourist Visa through an Ecuadorian Consulate. If entering Ecuador through a land border then you will need a Criminal background check with Apostille. This is only when entering by land and not when entering by air.
