Regarding the Crown Vic, There's a gent based right here in Canterbury that has a Crown Vic ex Vancouver police car, complete with all the Vancouver Police livery. I often meet him at several local car shows. He even puts on original "Beautiful British Columbia" licence plates front and rear for the duration of the shows. And a big cardboard cutout of a Canadian Mountie. One time I had the owner take a photo of me besides his car, showing the Vancouver licence plate. I then sent that photo to friends back in Canada and they all thought I was back in Vancouver. When I told them this was in the UK, they all asked "What on earth is a Vancouver police car doing in the UK?" 🇨🇦 🇬🇧

How about 'Harrison' for the 75? John Harrison was the man who won the 'Longitude Prize' for inventing a clock that would keep good enough time on a ship for the crew to calculate their longitudinal position. Also a prolific clock maker before that, using mostly wooden gears, which sits well with the Rover's traditional wooden dash and trims.

As a dual Brit Canadian, I remember very well the days of the Crown Vic as a taxi in both Canada and the USA. But they are no longer used as taxis over there. In Vancouver Canada for example, they were replaced a very long time ago, mainly with the Prius and Prius Plus. However, some North American police forces still use Crown Vics. The US border patrol also use them. They are often seen parked up at the Canada US border as pursuit vehicles, ready to give chase to anyone that "runs" the border entering the US.

If you sold the 75, P6 V8, W123 project, Punto, 159, that would give you headspace to buy a dedicated 'channel car' which has its own reserved space for a max of say 3 months, before its shipped on and replaced with the next one. So I'd nominate any Saab as Channel Car #1..! I like the 75 btw but I think it's too nice and you'll lose sleep over every scrape. Since you would be attached to all the cars in some way, it's always hard to determine which ones to give up, but moving the old Benz on made sense. But i would keep the Vicky, the two P6s, the 200 and the 400 estate, the BMW Mini and the Morris Mini, the 75, the Freelander and sell the rest gradually if they're not being used regularly or are either becoming too costly to maintain or new faults keep cropping up.

For a front wing, try Keith Beschi at Eurovettes. He can source anything for any US car and ships regularly to the UK at a decent cost. I've used him several times including a Tremec gearbox for my Corvette. He ships in bulk every month or so which greatly reduces the costs. You send him a link to the exact part you need, he gets it sent to his place on the US east coast, then part of a bulk load to the UK, then ships to you from here. I can highly recommend him.

The 75 is like a boomerang, it keeps coming back. - Keep the Rover 2000, no need to say much more. - Keep the Volvo, this should outlive the cockroaches following nuclear Armageddon as the cockroaches can't reach the pedals. - Keep the Morris Mini, nuf said. - Keep Hippo the Freelander - Consider moving on SLZ, it really does not like you, I don't think that it's prejudiced, it just hates everyone. Another favourite of mine is the Punto mainly because of the Scarborough link for me. Know what you mean about a realible car on the fleet, at the minute I have the Family Fabia, owned from new coming up for 7 years old and is always the turn key choice for realibilty, since selling the Cactus I do seem to drive it more but alas I think it's time to increase the fleet again and it's currently between two since watching your Civic Type R or a Mark 2 Fabia vRS and I may have a wildcard idea, too many glasses of wine and auto trader searches are bad 😂😂. You get attached to every car you buy and I get that - it's definitely a labour of love for you. But as you also realize, the fleet is growing very big and there are only 365 days in a year. I'm assuming you want to continue with the "goes for a drive"-videos as they are fun to watch for us and give you new experiences and insights and you also need time for your job, family, travelling and maybe other activities. So a few cars end up just standing there all year, sometimes in less than ideal circumstances, without having the work done to them that is needed or being driven at all: better then to let them go to people then that have more opportunity to spend their love and time on them. Take the lovely Quentin as an example: that sell turned out quite nicely. So, to conclude: your dilemma really revolves mainly around time and also space I would say and making the choice of selling some cars would solve that. Anyway, that's my take on it, it's your choice to make, of course. Wishing you and your family happy holidays!
@jamesdecross103515 сағат бұрын

It's strange, I probably wouldn't choose any of the Furious Fleet if I were curating my own collection of cars, but I enjoy your adventures. Therefore, any opinions I offer are purely my own and should not be considered any kind of advice or recommendation. I'd probably keep the Mercedes estate as a good daily car. The two Rover P6s I'd probably try and sell to replace with a single P6 3500S. Land Rover Freelander mk1s don't do anything for me; the last one I drove (20 years ago) made me feel sick which rather put me off. The Volvo 740 simply doesn't seem to get enough use to be worth keeping, in fact or the big modern classic saloons only the Ford Crown Victoria appeals to me. If you can restore the Mercedes-Benz 230E to be as good as new, that would be a lovely machine; I've driven a few W123s and although they are not technically as good as a 700-series Volvo, they are somehow a more special experience. If I were to brutally thin the Furious Fleet it would probably look like this; Mercedes-Benz C250, Ford Crown Victoria, Eunos Roadster (MX5/Miata) and Fiat Punto. Maybe the Rover 420 Tourer too. I'm sure that would make your life a lot easier, but be considerably worse for generating content.

Think I'd move on the Rover P6, just never seems to start and certainly doesn't like you. And having decided to break the Merc, you should have stuck to your plans on that Matt. That is going to be a total pain and expensive to get that back in any sort of fit state. Other cars I would get rid of are the very boring 'Mini' (definitely not a hot hatch) and the boxy Alfa thing behind it. Not a looker that. Keep the Tomcat and the 400 Estate. And the 75, they are getting rare. And certainly the Volvo for the impending WW3 as you say. Think you need a BMW in the fleet (early E39 perhaps). Love the different views we all have on what cars to keep.
