As a longterm player of New World and someone who spend a lot of time in the game over the past 3 years, it's by far the most frustrating experience I've ever encountered in my gaming life. The game's foundation is great, but the quality and quantity of content releases is just extremely poor. New World is a good game for casual players (like Brian here), because if you only spend a couple hours here and there you're never gonna see the countless design flaws, obvious lack of care for polish and very poor balancing decisions. Don't get me wrong, it is a pretty awesome game, but only until you realize how shallow it is under the surface.

i think the server issues would be so easily fixed if it was setup like runescape, where you can just freely jump servers, you want a busy world jump in a high player count one, you wanna try to do some solo resource gathering, hop in a empty world, and have the economy just joined across them all, trading selling etc between worlds 🤷‍♂️

is this game working w less n faster updates(i couldent play it the last half of 2023 due to updates every time i wanted to play(usually weekends)and 100gb install everytime is pretty time consuming when the speed to get it is 5mb/s at most so hours n hours every time i waned to play it n after 3-4 times in short time i uninstalled it because i had not even been gettting 1 hour of 50-60h of updating it(so every 1h is 50+h of updates) So is it fixed or do i/we still have to pretty much install full gme size after every update no matter the size of update?????

The devs need to optimize this better. My device can pull 100fps on wow classic on high settings, as well as GW 2. I can get 60fps on New world on the lowest settings and on high I may get 20. I get 30fps anytime I go into a busy area. This game is very pretty, but playing Gw2 and WoW on high settings looks a lot nicer than this game on lowest settings just to keep a decent fps.

I only stopped playing because I realized I'd need a new PC to get the most out of it after getting into OPR. Also controller support, but otherwise I really loved NW. I asked for a way to play music and told them I was a Double Bassist and then they put music and Double Basses in the next patch. This isn't the only suggestion I made the Devs listened to and the community was super nice to. Most MMOs no one talks to me but in NW people were and dueling was also respectful. Like I do quests with the PvP flag but most people didn't gank you. There are some spots that are perfect for ganking too so resisting the temptation is real. EDIT: Getting a new PC in a couple of weeks too BTW. So I will be back in NW soon!!!!!!

i have 4k hours my self. I still play form time to time cause of the unique combat system. But that doesn't mean that the most negative videos about the game are wrong . AGS had gold on their hands and turn it to dust. The biggest problem is the engine its the source of 80% of the bugs etc. The end game simply does not exist. arena opr and some copy paste dungeons is all you can do. It has one of the best open world visually and nothing to do there apart form hitting rocks and trees. Unfortunately they must change a lot and 3 years now they just recycle the same things over and over again

I wish they would add a rank system to pvp like eso has captain luitenent general etc so there is a reason to play pvp once you have all the artifacts from the pvp track also the pvp event would be great especially if it was open world where to had to flag for pvp to get the drops or participate

I'll talk about my personal experience. I installed and uninstalled the game probably 6 or 7 times since release. Last time was after the new xpac which I bought and played for 2 weeks and then uninstalled the game. The only issue for me is the world. The zones, quests, dungeons... feels so similar that I get bored very quickly. The major cities are so similar that sometimes I forget which city I was registered to LOL. In most MMOs you will see a mountain or a lake and you'll just know what zone you are in. They need to go more extreme in diversifying the zones.

ive put around 1200 hours into new world across 3 characters with my main having 700 hours. I can honestly say new world is alot of fun especially with friends but the solo experience is quite brutal as almost all late game and endgame content is group content and most players have trouble enjoying the endgame because they dont have friends to play with

Came back after a year and none of the issues i had were fixed and for some insane reason they increased the level cap, I quit when i was lvl 57. Now i have to pay 30$ in order to be able to reach max level. Yea right

I think my biggest issue is that playing the game by yourself sucks. It's hard to feel like I should advance when I get to the new zone and I can't even fight one guy with out getting my ass handed to me. It needs to relent for solo players because if you can't keep the 1 involved you wont get to the point where you will have many.

My Take oddly numbers increased after New Years which is completely weird. I assume a lot of people got busy for the holidays and came back after things settled down. There's still a steady stream of new players. The problem is AGS cannot deliver big things. Recycling First Light into a New Zone was a mistake. Every server merger is followed by a crash in players, why? Because a bunch of people lose their territories and cannot compete with the war logger's and literally a few thousand people are destroying the game. They're having fun, but at the rest of player's expense. They have hundreds of accounts they share amongst each other; they play wars for hours an evening, and dictate who can war still, who can have what 5% territory etc. The only way to combat this is have enough territories they cannot do this to a dozen servers. It happens in EU, it happens in the US servers. These same people do not participate in the overall pve of the world such as invasions etc, and in some cases they do not even care to upgrade towns. Then there's the MSQ additions with brimstone it was pretty lengthy, with fire and frost it was pretty short and the ending was so so. Same goes for Artemis's story where she's pulling a Zoval from World of Warcraft. Supposed to be this big bad boss and is felled in a single player soul trial. It's weaksauce. They have destroyed crafting which was actually a strength of the game to appease the PVP whiners and mask their horrible ability to balance the game. So, they nerf you and you build yourself back up over and over and over. That's what killed the game for me. I was hyped for Mace, get a setup going which was not cheap, and they blew it up 3 weeks into the expansion, where it's almost a meme at this point. Influence races are dead. Elysian Wilds is pretty much a dead zone. Brim at least had a hub city in the zone. I'm sure they'll fix up the town in first light in September, but if they just add 1 new zone and that being first light can be captured again, they will seriously lose players and damage the brand worse than it is at this point. Will it get better? No. Not without changes in leadership. I think I can count on one hand in the credits, people who have actual MMO experience. The vast majority of the developers and leadership is comprised of mobile, single player, or new to the industry people. They need MMO leadership in there to help steer this ship, and they need to figure out how to go big or honestly go home. We need a big name to be working there and cleaning up and that should have happened inside the first year. They need to look to other games, they seem to like ripping off GW2, might as well copy the good parts. Dynamic events for example would make the world more alive. Loot scaling and level scaling as well that keep every zone relevant. The reduction in the levels of the dungeons to 3 was a step backwards. Wow had 10 dungeons with no uppper limit on the M+ besides skill. Guild Wars has 99 levels of difficulty for Fractals and I think 22 or so different ones. These things give people something to do. They somehow managed to make it less. Open all the dungeons all the time. People will run them.

I played NW when it was in beta and saw the incredible crash coming when the mass of players experienced the game at that time(and i repeatedly told NW devs at that time...to no avail). I'm looking for a crafting experience and to try pvp if its been fixed(timed fights and a sign up sheet kills any consideration I would ever have for this game). Where can i find explicit detail on the state of pvp TODAY in this game ? BTW...I'm a solo player. I love playing as part of a faction in pvp conflict.(DAOC was my first love ,but Broadsword drove me away with their inability and lack of will to improve the game)

Im a 3k+ hour player since launch and now Im getting suspicious of hackers infiltrating the game that AGS doesnt seem to be able to detect. It has become increasingly obvious I would say over the last couple of months, weird movements, ridiculous damage whilst in animation, 10 people on one who is invincible and they still manage to escape. "Rage hackers" is now a thing in PvP and it will kill this game fast.

lol it's not Josh's fault that NW isn't a good game. Josh didn't make the game. It's AGS' fault for releasing a buggy mess. AND it's not like the game doesn't have MAJOR bugs to this day. Season 4 was a disaster with half the content delayed and the other half bugged out. Game's inability to keep people around after every update is on AGS. Not a random youtube video lol.

I rather enjoyed it because it was different and only took a break because I was burned out on it. imo, many players expected it to be like every other mmo out there and that's proven by the downgrading for difficulty, the removal of water marked gear, the extra T.P. points that were added amd mounts. I'm sorry but the game is full of bugs and exploits and the hardcore players are gold buyers so they can always have the top end gear. They will lie to you and say 2 perk is good against 3 perk BIS in pvp and that is a blatant lie. Sure its viable if you have been playing the game forever and been pvp'n forever so you know certain things that most players probably havent even had a chance to pick up. The PVE is not worth sticking around for and the PVP can be fun at times but its mostly not fun as a solo player as well as a newer player. The only way to be competitive as a casual is to buy gold from websites.

I still play this game as of now. But if you ask me whether I will buy the next expansion after Rise of Angry Earth expansion. Atm my answer is a clear no. IF not having the next expansion make the game unplayable just like it is unplayable now if you don't buy Rise of Angry Earth expansion, then I will stop playing. Will they improve the game so significantly that it will entice and motivate me to buy the next expansion? I highly doubt so. The next expansion will probably launch in 9 months time and if they cannot even fix their bugs which have been around for last 2 years, I highly doubt they can improve the game so much so drastically that it will reverse the current sad state that it is in.

What's funked up about New World now for new players, if they want to max to level 70 and have access to mounts they have to pay 70 bucks. Thing about dungeons/Expeditions in New World, the bosses have better powers than the players could ever have, players are WEAK as hell compared to the bosses. It's as if there's a disconnect, like the weapon abilities when it comes to bosses in Expeditions are for another type of MMORPG.

Appreciate the positivity but the game is honestly in bad state not an argument just fact and that is in both PVE and PVP and has been a benefactor of no MMOs competing for attention throne and liberty will get massive attention initially but the blatant P2W which mentality messes with people will make the game fall off quickly even though lets be honest RMT is very easy in New World but its not thrown into peoples faces so it has less of a mental impact.

As a PvE New world is great and has gotten better. Now as APVP game which surprisingly new world's population tends to swing about 50/50 which is pretty high for a MMO. They struggle in this game with weapon balancing most games do and they do mostly do to the fact that they can't just slightly tweak something they do have a really good habit of going from one end of the spectrum to the other and yes they do favor say 3 particular weapons within the game more so than others. the way that they screwed over arena 3V3 should have only been slightly reduced in the rewards and increase the OPR rewards to Match or equally mimic that of the 3V3's. The constant weapon balancing and having to get new armor to accommodate your new speck or weapons is really ridiculously too often. I'm not gonna address the fact that they don't stop any sort of cheating within the PVP part of this game. They have made it increasingly harder to get good gear and I mean if you're a real PV peer you know that you're not getting good gear with a named item or anything else other than having to craft it yourself. I still play the game daily not casually at least 6-8 hours week 10-12 hours plus weekends. I have no issue with grinding out mats and materials but some of them has been seriously decreased in spawn rate or drop rate to tie gates those of us who are really into the game. And of course with most games like this those of us who have stuck with it can get a little salty watching it be made for new players to get to where we were at Way easier and so much faster just part of the nature of the games so they can make money.

NW current state is pretty much as it was. Expansion brought many people but the expansion was riddled with bugs. MSQ for expansion was broken, the quest for azoth staff was broken for a long time. New dungeon was waaaaaaay too easy and linear and boring. Bug with rendering distance for mobs was making it so frustrating to do quests. All these new and returning players were welcomed with more of the same. Lack of polish and testing. Besides mounts, that takes a few hours to get and level up - not much changed. I, personally, was highly disappointed in this expansion.

3:49 it´s because they saw what big falure dlc was and how fast people run from the game yeat again the spiks you´r showing is winter avent wheir we all knew we gonna get alot of value i got 4 enducters and prob 7+ cromatic seal just from winter avent and that´s my main and one account now i did log in a few times on alts same serv so on the peaks it´s prob me and people like me just logging in looting trees and sacks killing the world boss 3 times and then log so 20 min. To day we have the new avent wow ofc bugged the 3 daylie boxes i get 2 dupped items tested on my alts same thing. Am playing at nysa and was running pass a avent and start doing it this was a bit before peek 23:00 and no one was doing it so i look player numbers and 750 players on the serv nysa that have the most players in eu that is saying somting the other serv had around 400-500 i call that dead. And people are tierd of this reapetable same bs why so many joined this winter was becuse it was more rewarding then last year and i get the fealing this is only a test with their engine for the new game they planing only way to keep this game half alive is to force feed it with revarding content for free witch they cant do for ever. i have 7 k hours and 2 acc i do wars and races play on many serv and i se am not the only one tierd of this people are making up white lies altime to get away for a few days ore weeks jsut becuse they are tierd and seeing what i did se day one even. I hear many times people def this game for me they are iq o ore stupied ore new players ore that 5% of the pvp meta that anjoy a broken build like we had with range last few weeks and that´s far from one build that was broken in favor for dmg it´s no stop we are back at beta after dlc and msot of my hours is semi afk just a time filler.

I liked the video a lot! =) I love New World and the fighting system is amazing, the world looks stunning and Game-Systems are awesome. My huge problem is that New World has so many bugs that brake important system. I had to wait 3 months until they fixed the Bug to switch to the syndicate. So 3 months not playing in races and Wars with my Friends and Guild. The Season 4 Roadmap till May was also empty. As you said just step away from the game and that is true. That is what I did and I hope to be able to come back when the Game has more Features and is not as bugged as it is now. ( For example the Bow DMG Bug which was reported a while back and they still couldn't do something.) The Game is awesome and if you are a new Player there is a lot to do and a lot of fun to be had. For People who played a lot its just to empty and bugged.

I love New World, I got over 2.5K H played. The PvP is amazing, no other MMO comes close to the combat. But AGS needs to focus more on the two groups of players. PvP players want more OPR MAPS (and solo Q) PvE players prob want 10 - 20 - 40 man raids. I will not stop playing just cuz some twith streamer moved on to another game. Take a look at counter-strike. After 1.5 and in to 1.6 everyone and their mother said CS was dead. Same after the switch from 1.6 to CSGO, and the samething from CSGO to CS2.

they cut their legs off when they gave characters the ability to be any class at any time and the lack of races. No reason for alts. I think part of wow's success is due to the fact if you want to make a new class, you have to relevel, new class? relevel. It keeps people playing, each class has a different starting area and different quests so there is so much replay value and new world has pretty much zero replay abilty

I'll tell you, regarding the pattern of returning to the game, that I came back twice -- for fresh start and the expansion. Each time, though improved, I only lasted a month and ultimately I felt burned and wished I had not come back. PvP, especially, continues to disappoint and the developers continue to display incompetence and a meandering, somewhat aimless path of development.

Very disappointed with finding people for dungeons that I quit for now. Wanted to level a healer and do dungeons as I go, but I can’t find anyone at all even asking in chat. I was told you either wait till high levels or you get like 2 max level ppl and they just blast through the dungeons. Very disappointing. I know cross parties are coming (my server is 2k+) but they need to have reasons to do lower dungeons and have level sync. I’ll be back when the dungeon system while leveling and endgame are good.

The difficulty level of those dungeons and soul trail are too high for casual players. Casual players will avoid playing such difficult dungeons not because they don't want to but because they are always blamed by those pro players for 'under-performing' and get kicked out of group mid-way through the dungeon. There are only so many pro players in-game, without the casual players who formed the majority of the player base, it is hard to find group for dungeon.

Ive tried jumping in a few times. Lower level areas are basically dead. Sucks. This game has potential but with no one around its kinda boring and something still feels off about the combat not sure what it is.

Im not sure but the same way that he said basically that creating hate for a game is easier and more popular rather than saying what is good. While that statement is true even main stream media does this, because it works it gets more views and people attention thats why it always feel negative or mostly negative. However listening to someone whos whole channel is based on the game. Is also skewed because if your channel is named "New World Central" it really revolves around the game having some success and being optimistic about it. So with that being said Im not sure the game is any good I have played it on release played it on 2nd release and first DLC and after all that time game still is very meh. Not good not bad thats the honest true that you need if you like it good if you hate it its fine too. Using that graph thats used in the video shows the game has no retention saying something like "oh MMO players no longer no life" is not true. MMO players want a healthy community the game is based on social aspect for multiple people. To me it looks like players go in do their daily chores and leave. That is not healthy at all for a game that needs players to be any good. Using a youtube comment to back up your statement is also bad journalism, and even worst when the developers and other main people who have the data to back up their claims is being dismissed because of it. To me this video seems broken and skewed in many ways only real way to find out if the game is any good unfortunately is to play it as honest reviews are hard to find. Specially with the begining bit where he literally says "I have long divorce myself from the need to justify the games that I play because of someone's score" which is exactly what hes doing here without giving it a "score". I will also say controller support is going to be just a very basic thing thats only a band aid and bring temporary player. Saying that people are going to play more if they added it. Then proceeding to say "This is a big request that I had and so glad people have joined me" feels like an ego boost for himself more of a influence check to see how things can be pushed. While it could be true that the believe that controller support bring players feels a bit of "look at this ignore that". Also talking about the influencer locust train is crazy because thats what it feels like hes doing with the controller support. What I feel like would really really really bring players back is increase the players per server and instead of multiple servers create one east, and west coast servers thats it. This makes the game feel more alive seeing others is what makes an mmo great the interactions you have and makes the world feel alive. Second diversity of the map/quest. Those both feel repetitive it feels like they just reskin quest/mobs but have the same attacks just look different. The combat is great like fantastic one of the best for MMOs I feel like specially for this type. However what good is it if the world is just repetitive make sure that things feel different and fresh. The end game grind should feel rewarding rather than a chore, I feel like very few games do this well but this is exactly what New World is hugely lacking in. The addition of mounts has been one of the greatest things that could of happen to the game.

I agree to an extent. I have a good PC and when I log on to this game its super buggy and has a lot of fps studder that causes me to get disoriented. The content has potential but the game is so poorly optimized that it just runs like hot garbage tbh.

A lot of efforts to stand up for a game with such an amateur devs team. Ive been player new worls since the beta, and I always stood up for them, but with season 4 I cant anymore. Tones of duplicated content and events, a lot of dellays and so on.

the game literally ruined its ENTIRE premise 2 months before release, it needs to bring some aspect back... lose gear on death. the whole economy and crafting system was built around farming and auctioning for gear/upgrades. losing your gear was meant to be part of it. imagine going into situations knowing you needed to make sure you had buffs, food, potions - ready to go. once they dropped that aspect before release the entire economy and market trading was FULLY pointless. I do however, have an idea that would help the market revitalise: Idle quests that you purchase mercenaries for, upgrade them and slot them real gear that you make or buy with the risk of, if they fail their quests based on % and level, they lose that gear. requiring regearing of that mercenary. Would absolutely revitalise the market, farming and gameplay. have it as an expansion and have parts to keys that access dungeons and things within this mechanic to farm. so that you can then put it to real use. This would be a massive game changer

New world was my very first MMO. Loved it day 1 and played the crap out of it. Soon got boring, now play other MMOs. I'm grateful to NW for getting me into the genre. Not played NW for 2 years. Doubt I'll return. Compared to others I feel is below average.

I've been with New World since the very first alpha and I still love the stuff they're adding to the game today. My biggest issue at this point is that it's hard to get friends to do multiplayer PvE content and there's quite a lack of solo PvE content at endgame. I know the devs have plans for more solo eventually so I'll def get back into playing regularly when that happens

New world suffers from the no man's sky or fallout 76 effect. A lot of ppl will not forget and honestly I don't think that's entirely their fault. I believe in the existence of simultaneous truth's. I believe my following opinions are all true - New world has drastically improved - you can easily get 200 hours with a fresh character - ppl are unhappy with end game gear upgrades - New world needs more end game content - the updates/patches have been way too large for users with poor internet . Personally I have really enjoyed myself and I started with rise of the angry earth. The accessibility features are pretty good for my vision impairment. My friends wanted to play a game with me and it's more difficult nowadays so it did the job. I'm just sad that they moved on to other games while the accessibility features are still carrying it for me.

I enjoyed my time in New World however with the complete lack of addressing the rampant botting going on it will be a game that I won't bother to play much. I want to craft in the game and the PvP/PvE are truly secondary to me. It is a fist fight to get the resources I need to continue to level up the crafting that I want to be able to do.

This is a breath of fresh air from all the negativity surrounding New World. Yes it's not flawless, it has many flaws indeed. But I still have more fun playing this game than any other MMORPG out there. They are not flawless either. Hopefully the devs keep working and improving the game so other people can start to see that as well.

Im tired of saying this game has so much potential and it does but I lost faith in the dev team. I think the game needs new leadership. I like Scott as a person just dont feel like his vision as worked out for the game.

This is what the game needs: Let the dungeons have an open instance where anyone can just go in and mess around solo or with others. Secondly there needs to be stand alone houses that people can build out in the open world that is not instanced. with only 2000 people per server there is lots of room in this huge world. There is a territory standing already in place that can be fit to this owning of land.

The guy shows that there are only 25k daily players after the 900k initial, and then shows a 'healthy' graph only showing the LAST WEEK, and if you go yourself and expand the graph, you'll see it's actually slowly dwindling. New World is flawed yet enjoyed by some, especially due to the lack of a better competitor, but their slow content releases and poor address of updates and balancing fails to uphold the dwindling playerbase. I feel like Ginger here just defends the game, even tho he says he doesn't feel the need to defend his games anymore.

I defend the game with logic. What other MMO has released and not had massive player population drops? What expansion has released that hasn’t seen the same? The answer is, there isn’t any. People beat up on new world because new world is the ticket price, it has no nostalgia to bridge the gap in content. Furthermore people continue to say that AGS is going to pull the plug, everyday for example, yet here we are getting ready to go into year 3 and have the game have a relaunch of sorts

I'm gonna be honest the DLC or expansion kind of killed the game in a way if you don't have it you're fucked and it just feels like it should have been free the new zone I mean remake it's pretty but once you finish it you don't really ever go back it's just pointless locking a weapon other things behind paywall mounts which should have been free the constant bugs and breaking of things PVP being basically pointless I do have to admit the game has got better but it's not perfect the combat still feels Janky this game is just weird

My dang edutainment scholastic book fair games from the late 90s early 2000s had controller support so honestly If they can't be bothered to write a few more lines of code, I can't be bothered to pull my wallet out.

This is not a state of the game video I was expecting. State of the game We have been doing the same dungeons over and over and over. Players are bored of doing the same dungeons over and over and over. New dungeons are cool for like 2 days and blend in with the rest. And besides you can only do them for 1 week then they go off rotation for who knows how long. We have been doing the same opr game mode for over 2 years. No match making system, no ranking system. Horrible team balance and meta making the game unappealing for a lot of players. A new map will not fix this problem. We need more than a new map. Wars are still heavily gated. The vast majority of players can’t participate in wars and this is probably one of the biggest factor at pushing players away from the game. Countless people leveled up, got some gear and wanted to do wars but counted for multiple reasons and quit. If wars weren’t also a certain times of day, would also vastly help the game. Imagine being able to log in at 8 am on Saturday and do a war, with out having to kiss anyone’s butt or submit a bunch of vods to get in. State of the game is pretty bad, sure maybe lots of people log in daily. But the overall tone for the game from the players who play more than 10 minutes a day is negative, there isn’t any new content coming any time soon. The concurrent player base is more important than anything and a lot of servers are starting to die again m, having 300 or less active players online. Who cares how many people log in daily if servers can’t even fill Invasion lobbies anymore and your towns downgrade or when no one outside a few select few can do wars. Opr gets boring especially with everyone building t3 doors and running around heavy with a tower shield or using bolt caster.
