Lived there the first 27 years of my life and took for granted all the wonderful things. Didn’t realize what I left till people would say hey that’s where the state line runs through town.

Love watching these vids, one of my fave youtube channels . From a new zealander ( lived there for 29 years) now living in australia ( for 22 years ) . Some things are the same in small towns all around the world , but i think the Appalachians are very unique and these vids really show that special part of the areas you show. Thank you.

The ice cream soda was inside the Uncle Sam’s loan office where there was the “Broad Street Retro Diner” where we got sandwiches and Ice cream sodas, it was the former Woolworth’s Store that had maintained a luncheonette from when I was a kid but it unfortunately closed up last year, sadly. Woolworth’s was a chain of stores known around the country that went out of business many years ago.

Thank you, Trish and John Strange (hope I spelled your names right!), for suggesting this location. We owe you. And thanks, Shane and Melody, for making the video! One of your best, and a fantastic demonstration of what people are talking about when they talk about a town arising from seemingly inevitable deterioration and becoming a wonderful destination (rather than just a drive by) in the 21st century. Congrats to Bristol, and all the people who made this revival happen. Of course... someone could argue that a bakery like the one you visited could save ANY location, including the former land fill that's not too far from us here. (LOL! Blame the dark humor on the unnaturally warm weather we're putting up with in NW Ohio.) Nevertheless, that bakery is one in a million! Glad you got a chance to get some treats. All the best to you both and thanks for introducing us to Bristol. 😀

The coal company coins were neat. Down in my area of North Carolina the textile plants had their coins and they had the mill stores where you could get things on account until payday. Great video guys. I didn't realize that Bristol was such a hustle and bustle place over the years.

Another beautiful place. The history in Virginia is so interesting. You have no idea how much I've learned since I've been watching y'all as you take us along on these adventures. I know I've said it before, but, I'll say it again and again. I feel as if I'm literally right there with y'all. I guess I could say it's a "staycation" for me. And I enjoy every minute of it. Thank you as usual. Until next time....Stay safe!!!

I saw the movie "Psyco" at the Paramount Theater back around 1960. Mom & my aunt drove to Bristol to go shopping, let me wander on State St. I had a couple dollars, so went to the movies. This was 1960, I think, I was 9 years old. I remember being pretty scared, but enjoyed it. We pretty much ran wild as kids in those days! When I had customers in Bristol, always drove down State St. Thanks for another fine video. You-all always make me smile!

I was in both Bristol's few years ago and I loved it! We parked on the Virginia side and ate at a nice restaurant in Tennessee. That restaurant reminded me of pictures in the 1940s.that was strange to walk across the street and you could be in both states. But I loved bristol in both states!

When I lived in Bristol Virginia there was not much there , but the people are so friendly, we move back to Beckley we’re we are from , because of work. But Bristol is close to my hart , came back to see some old friends. Bristol Virginia has much more Businesses now than when we live there. Good memories for me.

I really enjoy the times y'all add the old pictures of places. Nice to see the history. When I first started losing my hair, my sister took me to a wig shop in Bristol where I bought my first wig. That was several years ago & after it got to looking sad & pitiful I no longer wore it...but my son & his friends had a hay day wearing it out! I haven't been to Bristol in about 5 or 6 years so it was nice to see it again. Y'all made me terribly hungry tho! Those burgers & fries! Oh my! And then the sweets! My sister brought me over some homemade preacher cookies tonight & they are delicious! Of course since I'm diabetic, she makes them a special healthy way. Y'all stay safe & continue showing us these wonderful places! Hugs & blessings!
