My father attended this game as an 8 year old boy and , as a result, became a life long Hawkeye fan. I showed him this video clip and his face absolutely lit up. He was even able to point to where he and his father were sitting in the stands. Thanks for sharing this.

I had the chance to meet one of the Iron Men George Frye a few times at the SE Iowa I-Club Banquete before his passing. He was still sharp to the end. It was amazing to be in the presence of one of the last members of the 1939 team to survive.

I wish I could here the names. My grandfather was a freshman on the team 1939-1940 . He went into the service as did almost all if these fine gentlemen. Mr Robert Corrigan PhD married Miss Anna Catherine McCarthy who also went into the service and was a nurse. He had such a great fulfilling life and family all 7 of them. 6 boys 1 girl. All boys went into the service as well as grandsons. I was so proud of my grandfather who wrote a Spanish/English language translation book. I learned Spanish using his own book. I miss him like crazy and all the stories he told me about his days and the war. May you all rest in peace and Thank you all so much for your service.

People must have had iron bladders back then. Nobody left for the half time show. Pretty cool stuff.

The stadium could fit a lot more in a row back then at Kinnick .

It was Notre Dame that changed uniforms, not Iowa.

Why did Notre Dame switch uniforms for the second half??

the Navy Blue they wore in 1st half was too close in color to Iowa's black. The green jersey's that they changed into provided more of a contrast.

Just to move the ball up field was a struggle, so many punts.
