Thanks for the views. Great camera work showing the behind scenes. It is strange seeing how poorly the Honor guard marched. Having retired from the Navy in 1986 It would never be accepted to march out of step. Sad to see how the president has to be led. Keep up the great work. Thanks

I find it strange that you consider the Honor Guard to have marched as you say "poorly," and use your time in the Navy 1986 and earlier to say "it would never be accepted to march out of step" in order to criticize your current fellows in arms. The reason I find it strange is that I just watched courtesy of the Reagan Library the State Arrival Ceremony for President Mitterrand of France on March 22, 1984 in order to compare and to see if your claim would hold up to scrutiny, and it doesn't. The tape shows that they marched just as well for this state visit ceremony as they did back in 1984. So this raises a question in my mind, and that is why did you betray your fellows in arms by claiming they didn't meet standards that you claim existed when you served when the tape shows they actually matched and possibly exceeded those standards.

@@trapdoorspringfieldmodel1888 since you looked up from 1984, go back and look at the victory parades from WWII it makes my point clear. In 1984 the Navy was in the process of going woke. You no longer were able to tell someone to do something, but rather you had to ask them to do it. In high school in 1970 ROTC High school kids marched better. I stand firm that the majority of the service leadership is poor and more concerned to be woke as opposed to being in the military. The service unlike the private sector, you are required to do things that normal people would never do. Like charge a machine gun. Discipline is required. It starts with first learning how to march and follow orders. If you cannot keep in time with the drum beat, how good are you at the job that really matters.

The Kenyan National Anthem reminds me of some the popular big-time pop songs of the late 1980s that had tunes that sounded similar. Why? They are historically correct as they are based on what the musicians wore in 1781 in the Continental Army. At the time the musicians wore the reverse of the colors that those who weren't musicians in the army wore. So instead of blue jacket with red trim they wear a red jacket with blue trim.

The lanterns have been there for over 100 years, the guns going off are for a 21 gun salute (which is done for a head of state). Had it been a head of government then it would have been a 19 gun salute.
