From Singapore and proud SIngporean. This vid kinda inaccurate from the start already. History of Singapore officially began in 1299 when Sang Nila Utama found Temasek Island & renamed it Singapura. After that many events took place which led to outside events (e.g. The founding of Melaka in Malaya). Most of Singapore’s History is detailed in the Sejara Melayu (Malay Annals), which looks at events of the Malay Kingdom from 15th to 16th Century (still before the start of this video). Some parts of 1600s-1800s is correct, including colonisation by different Western Empires. The next major event happened in 1819 when Sir Stamford Raffles (British East India Company) signed treaty with Sultan of Johore to set up trading post. Suez Canal opened (mentioned) & Causeway between Malaya & SG opened (not mentioned). Also during WWII, the Japanese attacked from the West, not the East 😒. There wasn’t even mention of The Emergency or The Konfrontasi. The Merger of Singapore & Malaya was not even mentioned well (no sign of Singapore jumping out of British, just Malaya taking SG along?). No Racial Riots that forced Malaysia to reject Singapore in 1965! Really need to improve context in these videos.

A lot of mistakes here: history of singapore actually start with founding of kingdom of singapura in 1299. in 1398 or 1399, singapura lost to java and the king had to retreat to north and establish malaka sultanate, making singapore under malaka rule and, after portuguese capture of malaka city, johor rule. singapore was eventually made capital of johor in early 19th century. then british came and had to sign fews of treaties with johor after getting Hussein Shah back from Riau Islands. then british establish trade port and singapore under british rule went better due to geographical advantage over the dutch. then japanese came and attacked from north after capturing malaya and took control of the island also singapore was kicked out from malaysia against its own will not just leave willingly and the rest is kinda correct

@@javinsonsim7430 bro im singaporean amd sg history do cover founder n establishment of singapura, flee of idk who and sg history do mention of how idk how establish malaka; and briefly on malaka, portuguese capture of malaka n johor while talking about status of sg while under rule of respective sultanates also it does cover the two sultans by time raffles came and how it got conflict between the brothers and because one of them was recognised as true ruler ov johor, sg was made capital of johor which i assume ah.... so sg history do mix a bit with malaysia's one thats wut i think

correction: the shape of Singapore has changed over the years due to land reclamation, so the shape of Singapore in the 1600s is not entirely accurate; Jurong Island was a bunch of collectively small islands and Tuas was much smaller. Also, the flag of Singapore was adopted in 1959, so the previous flags aren't accurate. Edit: I realised that the Japanese were depicted in invading Singapore from the northeast. This is not entirely true, as the British blew up the Causeway connecting Singapore and Malaya, so the Japanese took Pulau Ubin to the northeast to distract the British while they invaded mainland Singapore from the northwest. but overall good video (hi from sg)
