The South Slavic tribal groups moved south and southwest from their Pripet homeland, eventually entering the Byzantine-controlled Balkan Peninsula as either allies of or refugees from the invading Turkic Avars during the second half of the sixth century. Their search for a new, permanent homeland proved successful. Today their descendants solidly inhabit virtually all of the northwestern, central, and southeastern regions of the Balkans. Turks comprise a third ethnic component of the Balkan population. Although today numerically small-a little over 1 million people (about 2 percent of the total population) they have played a role in shaping the history of the Balkans far beyond their numbers. In late antiquity the rolling plains of the Danube and Prut rivers in the Balkans' northeast served Turkic tribes from the Eurasian steppes as an open door into the heart of the peninsula and the riches of the Eastern Roman Empire. Huns and related tribes swept through the Balkans in the fifth and sixth centuries, followed by the Avars and their allies in the sixth and seventh. Among these latter were the Bulgars, who established a state south of the Danube. Unlike the Avars, whose settlements in the Balkans proved transitory, the Bulgar state persisted in the face of concerted Byzantine pressures. By the ninth century the Bulgars were challenging the Byzantine Empire for political hegemony in the Balkans, but by that time they also were well on the way toward ethnic assimilation into their Slavic-speaking subject population. The conversion of the Turkic Bulgar ruling elite to Orthodox Chris-tianity at midcentury opened the gate to their rapid and total Slavic assimilation. Within a hundred years of the Bulgar conversion, most traces of their Turkic origins had disappeared, except for their name-the Bulgars had been transformed into Slavic Bulgarians Oğuz, Pecheneg, and Cuman Turkic tribes appeared in the Balkans between the ninth and eleventh centuries. Most of them eventually suffered an ethnic fate similar to the Bulgars and left little lasting impression, although the Gagauz Turks of Bessarabia, a region lying east of the Prut River (now known as Moldova), and some Turks living today in the eastern Balkans may be direct ethnic descendants of those medieval Turkic interlopers. Additionally, the Ottoman Turks' five-century rule over most of the Balkans established numerous scattered enclaves of Turkish- speaking groups throughout much of the southern portion of the peninsula, with a heavy concentration in the southeastern region of ancient Thrace.

Nikov is the first Bulgarian historian to pay special attention to, and attri bute great significance to, the Turkic components in the Bulgarian ethnogen esis (i.e., after the Bulgars) and among the ruling aristocracy. He elaborated on the issue of the "Turkic element's" influence upon Bulgarian history in a 1928 unpublished manuscript (delivered as a public lecture). Nikov began with the following policy-setting statement: There is no period in our history on which the Turkic element did not exert its strongest influence and did not leave the deepest traces in the development of our people. [...] None of the Balkan peoples has experi enced the Turkic influence so strongly as our people, The Turkic pressure began from Central Asia and had two directions to the northwest through southern Russia, and to the southwest through Persia and Asia Minor. The Bulgarian state was founded due to one of the Turkic peoples, the Bulgars, who themselves joined a number of Turkic tribal alliances (of Huns, Kutrigurs, Utigurs, Avars, and Khazars). During Byzantine rule, the Turkic Pechenegs and Uz came from the north; many of them crossed the Danube and were assimilated by the Bulgarian people. Then came the Cumans, without whose decisive help the uprising of Asenevtsi would hardly have succeeded. Thus, just as the First Bulgarian Kingdom was founded with the help of the Turkic Bulgars, the Second Kingdom was founded with "the decisive collabora tion of the Turkic Cumans."129 Not only did Cumans settle south of the Danube and become assimilated and absorbed by the Slavic-Bulgarian people, but they were also of great significance politically in the Second Kingdom, whose dynas ties all had Cuman blood in them. There were also many Bulgarian boyars of Cuman origin, including Balic in Dobrudzha. It could even be said that the Cumans acquired a dominant position in the political life of the state. 130 There followed the influence of the Mongol Tartars, who even supplied one Bulgarian king, Chaka. But of greatest importance were the Ottoman and Seljuk Turks, who conquered the Balkans from Asia Minor. Concerning the Cumans, Nikov considers the "transfusion of blood" from Turkic "elements" an asset, a means of rejuvenating and strengthening the "race" and enhancing the vitality of the Bulgarian people (in contrast with the conquering Turks).

I'm sorry, you were the worst? So Serbs died in the First World War, so we still had to cross Albania, and that crossing was called the Albanian Golgotha, and many died on those snowy Albanian mountain ranges, and when we crossed the Albanian Golgotha, we had to wait for the ships to transport us to the Greek islands of Corfu and Vido, we waited so long that the Russian Tsar Nicholas II told France and Great Britain that if they did not send us help as soon as possible, he would terminate the alliance with them, and we are there spent two years, 1916-1917. and on the island of Vido, the Serbs were buried as much as they suffered, and you say that Bulgaria had the worst time in the First World War, and you made an alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary, and you, together with Germany and Austria, attacked us so much that we got weak and were forced to cross Albania without anyone's help, and I have already written the rest, so now you can see.

This is just one of the many proofs why our nation has suffered the most throughout history, not to mention the Turkish government. Do you know what the blood toll is? It is the taking of Serbian boys to Turkish camps, where they are taught to be against their homeland. Serbia) and teach them, in addition to knightly skills, the Islamic faith, and parents whose children were not taken away were forced to cut off a finger or two of their sons, and they dressed them as girls and hid them in the nearby forest. In Kosovo, we killed Sultan Murat, our knight, Miloš Obilić, and then Sultan Bayazit near Gazimestan killed our leader, Prince Lazar. See also the siege of Belgrade on the Internet, see the Great Migration of the Serbs, because of the Turks we were forced to settle in the territory today's Vojvodina, that is, northern Serbia, see how we fought bravely in the First and Second Serbian Uprisings, and how we drove out the Turks in the First Balkan War, and you Bulgarians in the Second Balkan War. Look now, I have all the arguments.

Nonetheless, many writers, politicians, and intellectuals in areas of the Balkans, such as Bulgaria, Greece, and Serbia, resonate with a terrific hostility to the Ottomans, the “Turks.” For many Bulgarians, the “Turkish” yoke until today stands out as the darkest, most deplorable period in Bulgarian history.

Not to be rude but 20 cent. stuff was very wrong First,Ottomans at the start aleardy didnt have serbia, montenegro and in 1908 lost bulgaria (most of it) Second after ww1 Croatia and Slovenia gained independance united as State of Slovenes Croats and Serbs and later they proclaimed unity with kingdom of serbia (and k.of montenegro who joined serbia) Third in ww2 greece didnt capitulate that fast and yugoslavia collapsed in 10-12 days and alsp you forgot about Yugoslav Partisans, bigger reistance group than free france yet no balkan front is shown Fourth during transitions of regimes Yugoslavia was aleardy communist from 29.11.1943. and they never were in warsaw pact and alsp you forgot to mention Tito-Stalin split Fifth macedonia didnt even gain independance first,Slovenia and Croatia did it and in 1992 bosnia and conflict didnt last 1-2 year it lasted 10 days for slovenia 4 years for croatia and 3 years for bosnia

For a long time, the Bulgharian state retained a Turkic organisation, which gradually adopted elements borrowed from Byzantium. Some of the titles have still not been deciphered, but kavhan, boy/a, khan, kolovur, bagatur, tarkhan and sampsi are Turkic in origin, or were at least used by Turkic peoples. In the meantime, the leading Turkic class gradually diminished, and became assimilated in to the Slav population. By the end of the 7th century, bilinguality was wide spread. Omurtag's three sons (also) had Slavonic names (Vovin. Zvinitsa and Malamir). The linguistic effect of Turkic-Slav coexistence is also reflected in inscriptions. Among the titles of court office bearers was, för example, the ichirgu boy/a, the 'internal boyla' of which parallels are attested in Turkic sources of Central Asia. From a Cyrillic inscription of around 969 it is known that at the end ofthe era this would be approximately uttered as chregubilya. The second element of the title is the origin of the Hungarian name Béla, used by several kings of the Árpád dynasty.

🇹🇷❤🇯🇵 The word "yogurt" comes from the Turkish word "yoğurmak," which means to thicken, coagulate, or curdle. The use of yogurt by medieval Turks was recorded in the books Diwan Lughat al-Turk by Mahmud Kashgari and Kutadgu Bilig by K. H. Yusuf, both written in the 11th century. The texts mention the word "yogurt" and describe its use by nomadic Turks. The Turks were also the first to evaluate yogurt's medicinal use for a variety of illnesses and symptoms, such as diarrhea and cramps, and to alleviate the discomfort of sunburned skin. but almost all Japanese think yogurt is Bulgarian.🇧🇬

After a period of political and economic crisis in the 1980s, the constituent republics of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia split apart, but the unresolved issues caused a series of inter-ethnic Yugoslav Wars. The wars primarily affected Bosnia and Herzegovina, neighbouring parts of Croatia and, some years later, Kosovo. After the Allied victory in World War II, Yugoslavia was set up as a federation of six republics, with borders drawn along ethnic and historical lines: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. In addition, two autonomous provinces were established within Serbia: Vojvodina and Kosovo. Each of the republics had its own branch of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia party and a ruling elite, and any tensions were solved on the federal level. The Yugoslav model of state organisation, as well as a "middle way" between planned and liberal economy, had been a relative success, and the country experienced a period of strong economic growth and relative political stability up to the 1980s, under Josip Broz Tito. After his death in 1980, the weakened system of federal government was left unable to cope with rising economic and political challenges. In the 1980s, Kosovo Albanians started to demand that their autonomous province be granted the status of a full constituent republic, starting with the 1981 protests. Ethnic tensions between Albanians and Kosovo Serbs remained high over the whole decade, which resulted in the growth of Serb opposition to the high autonomy of provinces and ineffective system of consensus at the federal level across Yugoslavia, which were seen as an obstacle for Serb interests. In 1987, Slobodan Milošević came to power in Serbia, and through a series of populist moves acquired de facto control over Kosovo, Vojvodina, and Montenegro, garnering a high level of support among Serbs for his centralist policies. Milošević was met with opposition by party leaders of the western constituent republics of Slovenia and Croatia, who also advocated greater democratisation of the country in line with the Revolutions of 1989 in Eastern Europe. The League of Communists of Yugoslavia dissolved in January 1990 along federal lines. Republican communist organisations became the separate socialist parties. During 1990, the socialists (former communists) lost power to ethnic separatist parties in the first multi-party elections held across the country, except in Montenegro and in Serbia, where Milošević and his allies won. Nationalist rhetoric on all sides became increasingly heated. Between June 1991 and April 1992, four constituent republics declared independence while Montenegro and Serbia remained federated. Germany took the initiative and recognized the independence of Croatia and Slovenia, but the status of ethnic Serbs outside Serbia and Montenegro, and that of ethnic Croats outside Croatia, remained unsolved. After a string of inter-ethnic incidents, the Yugoslav Wars ensued, first in Croatia and then, most severely, in multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina. The wars left economic and political damage in the region that is still felt decades later. On April 27, 1992, the Federal Council of the Assembly of the SFRY, based on the decision of the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Assembly of Montenegro, adopted the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which formally ended the breakup.
