Commentators like doing this. I remember recalling they think Rob Cross is the next freaking Phil Taylor. I'm sorry, what? Guy hasn't won anything big since 2021 and before that, next to nothing aside from that one championship where he defeated a floundering Taylor. MVG is more of an accurate comparison because the guy has won more pro tours and championships than Rob Cross by miles.
