Joining the others to applaud youre findings and testing, its also been quite challenging to find the right settings when dealing with the driveway cam settings for not recording stationary objects. Good job on the mask/detect thing to!

Thanks! I'm still working out the fine tuning to get it just right and not omit things that I really want to see. Blake made a comment about using required_zones along with other settings to get more complete events.

Your video helped me a lot to configure the most minute details of FRIGATE, I am from Brazil and I have difficulty getting informative material about FRIGATE in my language or people from my country who can create educational content about FRIGATE and home Assistant, your videos help me too much !!! Congratulations for your work.

Object filter masks are designed to remove false positives, not true positives in locations you don't care about. By filtering out objects with that mask, you will miss precapture for cars and people that start down the street and later enter your driveway. I recommend defining a zone along with required_zones settings if you want more complete events. This allows you to start tracking a person that starts down the street or across the street and only create events if they actually step foot into a zone. The settings you show can work, but do have some limitations.

Thanks Blake. As you saw in the video, I was a bit confused and was doing it wrong the whole time. I have zone for close in stuff but not for far away. I was trying to prevent recordings and motion detection for stuff down the street. I get a lot of cars turning the corner at the intersection that I don't care about. Do overlapping zones create issues?
@BlakeBlackshear2 жыл бұрын
@@mostlychris Overlapping zones are fine. You can even have the same zone name across cameras. I recommend trying to use required_zones rather than an object mask to avoid events for cars down the street. Object masks were really meant for things like masking the top of a tree that keeps being detected as a person and you know it's impossible for that object type to be in that location.

@@BlakeBlackshear I've got that set up. I have been noticing in my blueprint that I am getting notifications outside of the zone. I have two zones--close in and everything. The alert is set to only go off if a person enters close-in but it goes off if someone walks into the everything zone. I am using the latest blueprint that is supposed to account for stationary objects. I have a vehicle sitting in the close in zone and the everything zone most of the time. Is that tripping it up?
@BlakeBlackshear2 жыл бұрын
@@mostlychris it shouldn't trip it up. I can help troubleshoot if you open a github issue. It's difficult to work through here.

GHi Chris, thanks for you great videos. Please can you give me some advice as to why I have no events in Frigate ? I do have clips and reccording under my Media / frigate and clips but nothing no enets in Frigate. I do have a live view and have bonding enabled. Any suggestions why Frigate is unable to view the enets, thanks

Excellent ! Could you advise how to config to use camera for monitoring the gate status. I means if the gate keep open for half an hour then there will be notification to the mobile phone.
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
A simpler solution would be to use a door sensor and set up an automation if the gate sensor is open or on for 30 minutes.

Great stuff, thanks for your time and effort into making them - your config file was the only reason my Frigate started working :) - now I'm figuring out why. Have you looked at Doods in the same detail?

I'm running docker-compose, ha, and I have 6 foscams to integrate. My server is a very old AMD64 with 2 gigs of ram... There is a foscam integration in HA, Or I could install Motioneye, Frigate, or Zoneminder in a docker container. Looking for the lightest, most basic seems like motioneye may be the one for me... IDEAS???

I’m looking for motion or image detection software that could be trained to detect blowing sparks from upwind fires. Anyone have any suggestions? Ideally it would be something that would work with Home Assistant.

Would you consider Frigate a replacement for a regular NVR or a companion for special tasks like object identification?
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
I think that is a religious issue. It really depends on what you are using it for. I replaced my Blue Iris with Frigate primarily for the smaller footprint it requires and the built-in detection. Others have said that Frigate is not a "true" NVR. It works great for me though.

I`m testing the mask objects , curious if they work .. I have a camera that points to a tv .. I mask it however as you said if motion gets triggered the mask just goes away :) and the capture of images starts and as I run double take I get all sorts of fake positives on double-take .. I tried to get the camera motion off when tv starts in a HA automation but for some reason it didn`t trigger the automations .. I`m sure that`s an option to stop the motion function of a camera in certain circumstances but mask objects would be better if it works .. update: I`m looking at it and it seems to work .. no new fakes in double-take ! I knew that if I`m watching your vids I`m learning something new !
