I still have the original Static milestone comics, at the time I’d never read anything quite like it. Even though I was a white kid from Yorkshire, it was relatable in as much that Virge was dealing with bullying, peer pressure, girls and being an outcast. I never saw the static shock cartoon but Static will always be special to me.

You know what's most impressive about Virgil, not only he is a Unlimited Justice Leaguer member, but also is a member of the Teen Titans not to mention that he was an honorary member of The Shadow Cabinet(which has Icon and Rocket in them by the way) but became an asset to them later on and relied on him too. These memberships alone are proof of how greatly regarded he is among his Superhero piers, not to mention he gained Batman's trust as he revealed his secret identity to him by calling out Alfred on purpose so he can pose as a clue to see if he can connect the dots and he did, he passed the test and not to mention Batman complimenting him by saying he's got style and by making him smile every time they meet, whenever he is around Static Batman opens up and loosen up too not to mention that he managed to take on 5 out of 7 original Justice Leaguer while they were controlled by Brainiac which impressed Batman as he told him when he gets older he can become a part of them which he did as stated by Terry that he is one of the greatest heroes who has the power to change the world. These exploits alone are the legitimate proof of the importance of Static to JLU, TT and SC, with the facts that he became a hero because he was inspired to use his powers because of his mom, out of self-motivation and self-belief and to prevent the gang accident and police violence from ever happening again is remarkable✊🏼️ I have nothing but sheer and respect for him for he inspired his fans and those around him, thank you truly Dwayne McDuffie for bringing Static to life and making him our High Voltage Hero⚡️ DC IT'S HIGH TIME YOU realize the POTENTIAL of each and every UNDERATED and UNDERAPPRECIATED HEROES YOU HAVE AND SPARK THEM TO LIFE ONCE AGAIN BY GIVING THEM THE CHANCE THEY DESERVE BY TREATING THEM WITH LOVE, RECOGNITION AND CARE✊🏼️ He and Spider-Man have so much in common they joined the world's greatest superhero teams, Spider-Man was part of The Fantastic Four, The X-men and The Avengers(member) while Virgil joined the Shadow Cabinet, Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited as a new founding member, boy I wish this two bros meet

Man i love to see Static again... But when i heard the words "activism" and "social issues" i know it's going to be bad... Sure cartoon static has tackled some real life issues but it's not the focus of his story... Those episodes are meant to teach not preach... But now... I'm not sure that i'm happy with the current static... Except the young justice one i like that he was being mentored by Black Lightning...
@chidchid43812 жыл бұрын
It's fine if the activism isn't for you but I would like to point out social issues has always been a focus on Static's story in the comics (and his conception at Milestone). I haven't caught up with the current Static run so I can't speak to its quality but it's not like it's missing the point of Static. I will say though that it's not the only focus of his story (which the cartoon does a good job of highlighting). Also I like Static being mentored by Black Lightning on YJ as well, it's also a cool callback to when he got mentored by Soul Power in his show (who was supposed to be Black lightning anyway before they made him his own character)

I can vividly remember that the "Static Shock" cartoon on kids WB was heavily anticipated by me in my younger days. I often watched the show with my mother, it felt good that Virgil had a positive image and reflected good values for young African-American children like myself. Virgil made a statement that he was so happy to finally be somewhere his blackness was not considered the minority in that land. Also you probably don't know Francis in the comics and in the show to a degree.. since it was geared towards an younger audience WB didn't show this racist traits as prominently in the show, there were incidents in couple of episodes like the one static was chained together with Francis. Francis AKA Biz money b is a racist who called Virgil Oreo and other racist terminology constantly in the comics. He couldn't tolerate seeing Virgil being so close to Freda, Francis is that type of white boy who acts black yet when white girls are around black guys..he'll be that one who yells Petty remarks like" blacked!!!". Static is unfortunately underrated, especially when it comes to majority of DC fans under 30. Most are unaware that this movie has been announced to be in development before Batgirl and Blue Beetle yet no updates on casting or even concept art??? this is prove enough. WB/DC comics has not manufactured any toys of static since 2004 or any video games not even a mobile game. Main point is DC can’t do anything with Static without Milstone’s permission. Milestone has specific criteria for how they want Static portrayed.

I think the update does work well for a more modern update. The focus on Black Lives Matter and police brutality less so than police vs gangs issue in the orignal. One thing I do miss is that originally static was gonna kill his bully and he made the choice not to and gained control. Him choosing not to kill not to give into that vengeance and feelings of weakness but being truly strong without the gun. That is one thing that’s no longer there in the updated comic

No it doesn't. It sounds horrible and divisive, especially with all the issues surrounding the Black Lives Matter organisation. Not to mention, no one protests when its black lives that were innocent, it always seems to be for criminals that had a history of being awful people.

@@j2174 Not only that, but this new BLM origin downplays a whole lot of character's origins that stemmed from the Big Bang. For example D-Struct. In the comics, he was a gang member who wished to be a normal student (especially like Virgil) but got caught up in the Big Bang. He was pressured by his set to kill Static or else his father would be murdered, but pretty soon Static understood the situation and they both handled the issue. This BLM origin messed up a whole lot of things for Milestone.

"Baby Bangs?" You mean "Bang Babies?" You know what? I think these videos make these small mistakes ON PURPOSE just to get people to comment on the video. Just a cheap way to get people to interact. How about we ignore the small mistakes from now on and simply Dislike the video? Just like I did.

Lmao you get upset over one small detail bro you are a laughing stock with that sorta mentality

@@Techo333_ And, just whomst was saying I got upset? I simply pointed out a mistake which these guys made. What makes you think I'm upset? These guys are CONSTANTLY making mistakes like that in their videos. There's two possibilities: 1. They're doing it on purpose. 2. They don't actually know what they're talking about.

@@BrockLee3 because you are digging way too deep in it this isn't a conspiracy theory there is just as much of a possibility that it's simply accidental. Humans make mistakes all the time and when you're editing and researching constantly for new vidoes then it amplifies the risk of mistakes even further. Have some consideration dude seeing as a he did a well enough job in the end.

@@Techo333_ Sure, humans make mistakes. However, these guys are the only ones which make CONSTANT mistakes in EVERY video. There's an old saying which goes, "Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity" (Hanlon's Razor). However, in cases of REPEATED stupidity, malice is the only explanation. Now, then...I'm not saying these guys are being malicious; but, it seems like the motives for their constant "stupidity" are ulterior.
@Techo333_2 жыл бұрын
@@BrockLee3 no they are most definitely not the only ones who make mistakes seeing as ever other week there's a youtuber apology video for whatever stupid they did or said. So you can already discount that point another thing you cannot prove theirs any malice intened whatsoever seeing as the only mistakes were few and far between not nearly in the slightest enough to warrant the label of doing it purpose. Seeing as it's a very small fraction of the info covered and wasn't in the video until a while in so you'd have to venture already halfway through the video to find it therefore meaning he didn't do it to cause people to react if they were already that invested then it was your doing that you reacted that way. Maybe not take some small inaccuracies to blantly state a channel to be unworthy of views. Especially Seeing as the vast majority of the video was accurate in regards to the character.
