So messy but so clever… I had no idea that we could just move the centre of mass as we see fit; what a great application for graphical vector addition. Thank you!!

this is so unbelievably straightforward, you explanation is superb!

Must have been the messiest diagram and calculation I've ever seen but also the most helpful one. Thank you mate, you just passed me my first sem

I'm just in my third week of undergraduate studies in Physics & Engineering, and this video helped me to a huge extent in understanding torques in statics. Thank you so much!

Thanks, You simplified what my high school teacher failed to explain even after multiple examples... Now time for uni physics.

be careful.. moving the center of mass will effect the reaction forces at both points

How is the vertical forces Fay and Fby = 1/2mg? . I think we are over-constraining the system and either of hinge can take load mg. Please feed back

how were you able to say that one of the forces in the x direction was negative when they are both pointed in the same direction
@cdw13237 жыл бұрын
Hopefully you figured this out by now, but for others, it just means the initial assumption for the direction of the reaction force Fx_A vector is incorrect and should be reversed (which makes sense because it should resist the weight of the door)
