Hi, I think Ax did come out to be a positive number for the beginning whole truss’ FBD where the sum in the x forces were (500-Ax=0). In this case we wouldn’t have needed to switch the direction of Ax. I haven’t finished the video, maybe this doesn’t affect the calculations but I wanted to mention it just in case.
