OK...my one quibble with Station 19--and Chicago Fire for that matter: male firefighters with stubble verging on full beards. In real life, the fire service mandates being clean-shaven. It's not a quasi-military thing, it's a safety issue. Facial hair such as razor stubble or beards can cause your mask to not form a tight seal when it's time to don the SCABA gear, letting toxic smoke or chemicals leak in and oxygen to leak out. Mustaches are a different story, though, as they have to be neatly trimmed. They're also a tradition in the fire service, as they actually served a purpose before self-contained breathing apparatus were widely issued; big, thick mustaches actually acted as a FILTER of sorts when firefighters went into burning buildings!

None of the firefighter have beards in station 19: pruitt, emmett, warren, Travis, dean and Sullivan are all clean shaven, aside from Gibson whom has a slight beard they are all clean shaven, I don’t know about Chicago fire though
