Stationeers Let's play Modded Vulcan 1 What have I got myself into?

Welcome to Vulcan. This is probably going to be the most difficult plays I have attempted. We are on Vulcan where it is hot enough to smelt steel during the day and the atmosphere explodes when it comes into contact with oxygen so be careful which door you open. Adding onto that I am using the Plants and Nutrition rebalance mod where you have to drink a lot more the plants drink a lot more and the plant has no water and no oxygen and you start with very little water. So step one is to regret wetting your pants because you will need all the moisture you can get.

Look like a less well lubrificated and broken in run. im on 5 attempt of Vulcan failed by stupid mistake.

I have had a few attemps and failed hard. I think I have the right build order but it only takes one mistake to make it fail.

What about Stirling engines? I am fiddling around with those on Vulcan, and as usual it got way way over complicated lol. Working to get them at full efficiency 2 x 9 engines in a fairly big room.

I expect Vulcan is the ideal planet for sterling power. I will have to give it a go once I have the plants growing.

hmmm... is it more difficult with this mod? you have far more time to get all your stuff to survive. but need far more.. DONT know. but i enjoy your playthrought.

Keep watching. Vanilla will crush you in the first 2 days then it is easy. The mod makes the first 2 day easier but then crushes you in the next 2 weeks.

@@cowsareevil7514 Yes, it's very interesting. At first I wondered why your thirst bar was going down so slowly, and then I saw how little your water bottles actually replenished your thirst. Just wondering... what difficulty level are you playing on? You didn't say at the beginning.

What would you adjust about this startup after the thermodynamics update? It seems like the starter base you used is no longer an option because the interior will now get over 400c during the day and then oxygen usage skyrockets.

Do you think you’ll use a gas fuel generator? I’m curious how you’d cool it. I’m still not a master of the GFG arts.

Vulcan doesn't really lend itself to a GFG. You need fuel and you have to cool it both of which are in short supply. While it can be done I think there are better power sources. Solar and Stirling engines will the way I will go.

The basic furnaces water pipe works now. Its extremely hot but I had success with pumping it in to an insulated tank then useing a liquid to gas heat exchanger hooked up to a looped pipe on air-conditioner to cool it. Eventually I only had to turn the air-conditioning on for a few second when I pumped out the furnace. I used a second liquid to gas heat exchange to cool my base. Waters thermal capacity is much higher then gas it ended up being very effective after the first cooling.

@@cowsareevil7514 That was the beauty of it, if you keep the water at a temp the plants are happy with you can use the same water to thermal regulate temp, plants and drinking. Granted I did it on Mars, lower out put but its like a power free H2 Combustor.

Maan I am trying this challenge too now, also with the nutrition mod. But it is very hard now because you starter 3x3 room now always catch fire because of the new fire mechanic and all the H2 in the room. I am in run 6 or 7 and have blast. Failure can also be fun sometimes.... :)

Honestly can't wait to see how you will handle things i'v tryed many runs on vulcan with the food belance active failed all , wasn't able to generate enough oxygen to feed plants need and top of that feed my self with waterXD The only time i succed i kinda cheated a bit using on vulcan the venus start(for the water tank at the start) and even with that it was kinda of harshXD
