It’s inspiring to see you value old technology mixed with the new. A typewriter is a most handy tool for filling out forms, writing on non-standard paper, and keeping your keyboard skills sharp for making fewer mistakes that are much harder to correct than on a pc. Notepads, fountain pens, and colored ink are the eclectic items needed by multi-dimensional folks like you! I loved the ipad, too!

I’m a geology student and there is a brand we love called rite in rain. We do a lot of field work so that means drawing and writing in the rain. The paper in the rite in rain books are actually waterproof it’s amazing. You can only write when it’s raining in pencil not pen but the brand is amazing.

@@RubyGranger8 the paper is made from a mix of materials which are water resistant (I looked it up and it’s polydura, field flex and fabrikoid). The materials are recyclable as well so it’s can be recycled like normal paper. I know some water resistant papers are made from very fine grains of rock dust and plastic but that’s less sustainable.

I really love the Moleskin brand as well for notebooks. I made up an academic planner for the upcoming University year with one and am in love. I chose the Harry Potter Weasley Car Royal Blue Moleskin. I absolutely love the themed ones as there are some illustrations in the front and back of the book along with some stickers or a leaflet in the back folder. I have a Mandrake pamphlet from one Moleskin and my Hogwarts school supply list from another. I recently found your channel and am obsessed with your content. Love from Alberta, Canada.

hello, I want to recommend a tip to be able to write on paper without getting too tired, you just have to place a piece of eva foam sheet, or cork, under the sheet where you write, this will make the surface softer when writing, and it will reduce the fatigue when writing for long periods of time, I hope it will be useful for people who will be going back to school and will have to write for long periods of time.

Such a beautiful language (at least in the original) and a perfect mix between psychology and history. Both of which I´m very much interested in. Hope you like the book. Hi, just be really careful using acrylic based ink in a fountain pen. Drawing and calligraphy ink is made for dip pens and is thicker and heavier than fountain pen ink, it can really clog up the feed and if left to dry can permenantly block the nib x

I used a total of 3 notebooks throughout my bachelor's and master's: Two spiral bound A5 subject notebooks and one thin, sewn A5 notebook for field trips and excursions. I use Pilot Frixion erasable pens in multiple colors for taking notes.

Ruby you shouldn't use acrylic ink in fountain pens as it can clog your pen feed, the red ink you got is a calligraphy ink and acrylic so not good for fountain pens it is designed for dip pens. The green Diamine ink is fountain pen friendly, the Diamine fountain pen inks are great.

Good suggestion about refurb Apple products, but in my experience Apple’s own refurb section is often a safer option than Backmarket or similar services. I don’t think the savings might be as good as Backmarket, but you are getting basically a new device from Apple, where the refurbishment process is quite a bit stricter than that of other services. Just my experience though having tried third party refurb services and Apple’s own.

EEEEEEEEk Ruby, if you see this, the Diamine bottled ink for Drawing and Calligraphy is possibly acrylic ink and shouldn’t be used in a fountain pen as it can clog it up. Loved video, but just wanted to save your pen!!

This would be a really great video idea but for now I will share some things that have helped me, and hopefully they can get you started. First of all and the most important make it a habit. Carry around your book with you, either physical or digital. If you were worried about losing it, create a digital note on your phone and put ideas in it, and then every few days transfer it to paper. Nonetheless make it very easy and convenient for you to jot down anything you want to remember or put into these books, so that it becomes super easy and a habit. Next, reflecting on why you want to keep a book like this. I would personally do it on the front page of my common place books, but you could do it wherever you want. It does not need to be a complicated answer, but just having something like this you can refer back to you is great in the future, and even just now to help get you more motivated. just reflect on why you want to do this, the benefits, and anything else of that regard. Another thing you could do is a practice session. This might sound ridiculous but was really great for me to get comfortable originally. Go onto social media, and as you scroll through many videos pretend like you were putting it in your commonplace book. You can do it directly in the book if you want, or just on a separate piece of paper. Either way, anything interesting or any good tips write them down, and it will just help you feel more comfortable perhaps. Especially if you are a little bit nervous to start off, and need something extra to boost the motivation levels. Finally, there are some other really great introduction videos on KZbin I recommend you look up. Another option is reading articles on the Internet if you prefer. This is not necessary, but can give you a few different ideas about how other people use their common place books, and some other basic information. At least for me this was just really helpful and only took about a half an hour. Nonetheless I hope this can get you started, but I wanna share one more thing before and this off. There is no pressure here, do not worry if you do not write down everything. There is sometimes I need to write down every idea, every tip, every little bit of knowledge you happen to come across, but that is not necessary. If you want to go right ahead, but especially at the beginning when you were just getting started and trying to make this a habit do not worry. You might miss a few ideas and that is OK, this is meant to be fun and enjoyable so just keep that in mind. If you have any other questions please reach out, I wish you all the best work, and also I talk into my phone so I apologize for any mistakes. Wonderful rest of your week
