Ah, I see Jon puts as much forethought into accessibility as many real world architects. 😆 As somebody who uses a wheelchair to get around, I watched this particular video with a bit of horror at first, but then cackling like a madwoman as Jon had to belatedly cram in non-stair options. After watching this, this game is definitely on my to-get list, even though I am pretty sure I will go mad playing it.
@JJ-M
@JJ-M 4 жыл бұрын
I like that the game subtly tries to induce the player into that by having no options, then suddenly having all the options all at once, just to create that problem that really does exist without demanding the player reproduce it.

Jacob Jaeger-Mathis It’s a fun way to get people to think about just how complex this sort of design process is. I will be the first to admit there were a ton of accessibility issues I was never aware of until I needed to contend with them myself. (Brick sidewalks always seemed so pretty before I had to wheel across them!) Thumbs up to the game devs on this one, for getting people to think about this stuff!

My college really reeeeallly pushed being accessible to people with disabilities and there was exactly one kid who was having none of it. No legs and he rolled around on a skateboard faster than I could walk (and I didn't even need the cane and leg brace back then.) Took the stairs whether it was busy enough that you had to wait for the elevator. Cool guy. I only ever felt sorry for him once, and that's when I found out he was getting a philosophy degree.

Corridor system at game start: works perfectly fine Jon: NO! ONE WAY SYSTEM! IT'LL BE MORE EFFICIENT AND WILL WORK BETTER BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL GET THERE FASTER BY RUNNING IN CIRCLES!!! People:get dizzy and lost by running in so many circles Corridor system:now on fire and has multiple factions of lost people battling for territory God I love watching Jon absolutely insist the one way only system is the greatest thing known to man and absolutely refuse to admit he could be wrong.

Idea for a Jon-Challenge: Design a map for a fictional, very complex underground with lots of changing train, but in excel, so that you put in two stations and get the fastest route.

I knew this was a recipe for disaster as soon as I saw two signs for the same exit pointing at each other

Im pretty sure most subways have a Stairs with Escalators in the middle of them usually. Like it goes: Stair, Escalator, Stair, Escalator, Stair or Stair, Escalator, Escalator, Stair. Also you should build more tiny Bathrooms. Also A SUBAWAY UNDER THE SUBWAY! How many SUB Levels do we have here?
