Absolutely the best video on statistics that I have found on KZbin - and I've viewed several such videos. I like that the professor explains a topic from many angles, has charisma, patience with class questions and includes many real-world examples. It's the perfect blend of theory and applied statistics.

As practicing design engineer in West Cost medical industry, I find Professor Dr. Sarkar way of explaining the most complex subject in a practical approach very rewarding and helps in right metal representation for long term understanding. Although I have taken similar courses in Stanford paying close to 2K plus USD came out even more confused and even gave up statistical approach . Thanks for sharing for free and hope this benefits the transition from Excel based modeling to Python and would highly recommend to any one working with data and design.

My doubt is that "For getting a job in MNC or a good company (in ML/AI) , will I should write a research paper or I should focus only on my required skills for ML/AI with no research paper writing. Will company also demands for the research paper along with my domain skills." Please -Please sir, Please reply to me . Now I am very much confuses.

I actually had a doubt in the regression line explanation, there we take, where we minimized the sum of [Y(i) - (a - b*X(i))]^2 to get a and b and thus calculating our required line. But why didn't we minimized the sum of square of perpendicular distance. As in Let us say Slope = b, then the perpendicular distance will be [Y(i) - (a - b*X(i))]/sqrt(1 + b^2). And summing of squares of these distance we differentiate to get a & b. Thanks for this lecture, very insightful

1:49:07 @ Great Learning It is because we have two eyes on a horizontal line. left and right are assosiated with horzontal directions. switching of left and right is about how our eyes interpret the directions. So mirror image swithces the left and right, not the top and bottom. If our eyes were vertically aligned, the top and bottom would have switched in mirror. top and bottom orientations of objects are not affected by the horizontal alignment of our eyes. The relative positions of the top and bottom parts of objects remain the same in relation to our eyes and the mirror. Therefore, we do not interpret the mirror's reflection as reversing the top and bottom directions.

Dr. Sarkar, I bow to you. :-) You are such a fantastic teacher. Many statisticians have knowledge but only handful like you can explain the concepts so beautifully and make them approachable. After listening to you for almost 6 hours, I can hear your voice everywhere now. lol! especially when I am reading difficult subject matter! Note: as I am watching this in 2024 and after going through covid, the comment made by a student at 6:03:01 about the possibility of an epidemic which he thinks is rare hit hard. Edit: I am done with the course in about 3 days. I never enjoyed statistics this much even when I was in college and now I do! I have new appreciation. Thank you Dr. Sarkar and the awesome folks at great learning for making this available for free. 🙂
