I think the reason why people find statistics (and math in general) daunting is because usually lecturers and textbooks present the big scary formulas in the first step, and that puts up a mental barrier of understanding with the student. You've explained it very well here without introducing any formulas. Of course, eventually we do need the formulas, but it's far more important to get a grasp of what and why we are doing it first, and then the formulas come in.

@@gregmartin Really great breakdown. I have a question. All of these methods test for statistical significance based on a sample or samples selected at random. but I can’t get past the problem here. All sampling is not random. There is always some form of selection bias. Method of data selection, availability of data being sampled, voluntary participation biases, …. These degrade randomness, meaning samples are not selected at random from any population. Wouldn’t that effect the validity of theses significance tests??

No words in this word can describe how much I appreciate the existence of this video. This is among the few of the BEST educational videos I have seen on this platform, or any other platforms....I was taking notes all along, and it serves as an incredibly clear outline for introduction of statistics for someone who has never taken a statistics course but needs it for research. This is the type of video I will 100/100 recommend to others when they need a summery like me. No joke, top 1 on my list, 100% will recommend. I mean, the video itself, the representation, everything is perfect to the point I really, really have no idea how this popped up in my recommendation and only has some nine thousand views!!!! All statistics students, even non statistics student should see this......!! This is the type of content I would wish I can make if I do start making educational videos one day!!! Thank you for being such an inspiration!!!!!!!!

This is (in my opinion) the role model approach to explain a complex problem, simplify it and ultimately understand it. I am sure there are a lot of more technical details behind it but it is not necessary to communicate them in order to understand the main message of the video. This is a fantastic video, but after watching this several times, I realized that males and females are not actually circled at 3:07 as Greg indicates even though the colors of the icons are consistent with the circled areas. Furthermore, the summary table at 3:12 claims to have an upper range or 1.7 for males, but this value isn't actually in the data set on the left. I'm sure this was an honest mistake due to the wonderful graphical animations this video has. Nevertheless, It is still a very enjoyable, effective video. Thanks Greg!
