Thank you very much.learning statistic was my dream. At the age of 65 I joined a school to learn statistics but was really disappointed.no one had the patience to teach an old lady. Then I found your tutorials. Good bless you my dear. Thank you once again.

I just wanted to thank you for all these videos. My professor mumbles, barely explains anything and never shows any work and often confuses himself. Myself and a few classmates are trying to teach ourselves, more or less, statistics to keep up. These videos are a godsend. Thank you.

I have a very cool professor and he explains very well, plus sends us emails with PDFs containing the courses. Yet these videos still help me very much, because you can rewatch them anytime you feel the need to whilst you can't do that with your professor.

i like your explanations. u are a bit repeating and sligthly unorganised but very human. i finished the online dutch statistic course that is intensive and they speak with having the scenario on the backround so they don't repeat themselves. but your way makes me much more relax, like speaking to a friend over a cup of coffee while he is trying to explain me the homework

I only had this class before I graduated and I failed. No money and when I got enough the school said I had to retake all the classes.... Our school system is not meant to teach, it is just another debt people get into so others can make money. Khan Academy is the one thing I believe in now.
@zuesr32779 жыл бұрын
This is really TRUE. Schools are not teaching us they are just making money they do not show the beauty of the "x" concepts.
@bighands697 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with schools making money but the reason why they cost so much is because the government backs them with various loan programs that neither the school nor the government ends up being liable for. College in the 1950s would cost about $800 per year and that would be for room and board. Now taking the worst case of inflation of 4% that means today it should cost around $8000. But since inflation is only 2.5% historically it should really cost $3500 today.

I just graduated from high school, and I must agree with you. The majority of my classes have tried to teach information rather than understanding, and that is a VERY serious flaw. High school shouldn't put someone in a position to perform, but rather in a position to both innovate and understand the world around them.

Great series of lectures. Just want to point out that when you write the expression for the sample mean it's not correct and, more importangly, confusing to use small n for both the index of the summation and it's upper bound. Cheers.

There is something I don't understand. When we are talking of the mean of a sample, we use x1, x2, x3.... as real numbers. But they are formally random variables (or even variates). That sais, they are not real numbers, but functions. And if you think of the domain of those functions? There might be some explanations there. Thank you!
@TictactoeOP9 ай бұрын
Umm... 1 question 🙋 , We can Write 5 over sigma and also in the denominator in the case of sample mean, So do we have to replace the base of x to 5 also? If you'll explain then it would be better 😊.

R. B. The school isn't online, just the class. It's the local community college, if the course is available online I'll go that route bc I'm a single parent and finding a sitter is difficult and expensive. Online schools like Post and Phoenix aren't trustworthy, but most of the time local colleges will offer an online option of their courses for students like me who can't attend regular days.

sorry I am a little rusty, haven't done math in 7 years. I got 5.75 in sample mean and 6.6 in population mean. I added everything together sample mean and then divided by 5 because there are 5x's and for population mean I added everything together then divided by 150,000,000 and got 6.6

Very clear explanation, but I am still confused. Isn't the population mean is the sample mean of 150M samples? If yes, and if the arithmetical calculation is the same for both, then what is the point in naming a regular mean (average) in two different names? If the population mean is used as a benchmark for comparing with the sample mean, then I suppose that the population mean was calculated somehow by somebody using a big number of samples, which again makes it a sample mean. I am lost.

The quality control department of Atherton Mills specifies that the mean net weight per package of cereal should not be less than 20 (μ=20) ounces. Experience has shown that the weights are approximately normally distributed with a standard deviation of 1.5 (σ=1.5) ounces. A random sample of 15 (n = 15) packages yields a mean weight of 19.5 (x̅=19.5) ounces. Is this sufficient evidence to indicate that true mean weight of the packages has decreased? Hint: (H0: μ≥20, HA: μ
