Nice Video: Could you do one where you analyze the first 6 years of Devaney, and compare it to the first 6 years of Osborne, and the first 6 years of Solich? It’s my belief that Solich is about equal to Devaney and Osborne’s First 6 years. Osborne had Devaney’s players, but was 1-6 against Oklahoma (they played twice in ‘78), and was 2-4 against Missouri. People discredit Solich because he had Osborne’s players at first, but Osborne had Devaney’s players, who had recently won 2 National Titles, yet Osborne still couldn’t beat Oklahoma and Missouri. My feeling was Solich should have never been fired: He had a 7-7 season, yet adjusted by hiring new assistants, kind of like how Devaney adjusted after back-to-back 6-4 campaigns by making 28-year-old Osborne his offensive coordinator. Osborne had no coordinator experience at the time. I believe the success of Nebraska was created by Devaney being the AD and protecting Osborne. I remember by 1989-1990-1991, after Devaney retired as AD, Nebraska was getting smoked by Georgia Tech and Colorado and Oklahoma and Miami, and a lot of people in Nebraska felt that Osborne had 18 years to Win The Big Game, and he still couldn’t do it. So he completely REVAMPED the defense to keep up with Miami, and he scored Tommie Frazier. I think Solich was doing the same thing in 2003 when he revamped the staff. I think firing Solich led to the destruction of Nebraska Football. But it would be nice to see a comparison of those First 6 years of Devaney-Osborne-Solich. Thanks for all your hard work.

That will take some research, but I love digging for stuff like that. Thanks for your support!

I agree we have never truly recovered from firing Solich. Bo was consistent and we were getting close until another crazy AD stepped in and set us back.

Solich was adequate to the task, liked and respected by the players and got a raw deal. Ditto for Pellini. Bo could be a hothead at times but did nothing truly disreputable. He was winning games and should have been retained. My own devotion to NU football has never been the same.@@statman29neb
