ADP definitely seems like it increased the speed I drink estus and raise my shield. I was so used to DS1 where you could just hit L1 and block an attack at the last second I kept getting hit in DS2 because I was too slow. At 35 ADP I no longer have that problem.
@Smartuur10 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem! But my controller is broken, so I thought it had something to do with that, but it definitely dissapeared after i lvl'd up ADP.
@JacStance10 жыл бұрын
Also, I know it hasn't been confirmed, but I'm positive it increases your invincibility frames as well. With 35 ADP I roll through attacks that definitely should have hit me. It is more apparent with larger weapons, like the Drakekeepers with the large hammers, because you can see the weapon clip you but you take no damage. It's a beautiful thing.

@PyozGaming10 жыл бұрын
The PVP level absolutely have to be raised around 140-160. Most stats in DK1 were multipurpose. While in DK2 each stat seems to increase only one or two different things. E.g. in DK1 endurance was stamina + equip load. Now equip load has its own stat. We will have to invest more stat points to get viable builds.
@HastaLaLista10 жыл бұрын
Very nice video. It's worth mentionning that attunement not only raises the number of spell slots you have available, but also the number of casts per slot! This can be extremely helpful for powerful spells or miracles that come with only a few casts at low attunement, like buffs.

Adaptability adds 2 invincibility frames at most until like level 99. It does not increase your roll speed, and does not increase your shield raise or attack speed. It only increases the s and the speed of estus drinking. You also need to raise it side-by-side with endurance to get natural poise.

Sorry if either have been mentioned before but, don't forget about 2 things... 1 - ATN has a small effect on AGI, too. Not sure the real #'s, but feels like 1 point every few levels. (But I haven't leveled it above 20 yet) 2 - There are now 9 stats overall, which greatly increases max level compared to the first 2 Souls games, as those only had 8 different stats (not counting Humanity) Great video, though. Thanks!

I've only met 1 person who was near lvl150 and that was in NG, after that everyone goes right up. SM really fucked up PvP - at lvl150 you can fight lvl400's depending on SM which can really pressure some people to lvl up so that their stats are higher
@terrythompson75354 жыл бұрын
PVP in dark souls is a joke, and always has been.. due to the fact that only certain types of builds are actually viable.. also there really isn't an option not to use a melee weapon.. also in ds3, a person who makes a complete caster build with no use of melee is instantly rendered defenseless using vow of silence. Ultimately whoever wins in pvp has a lot less to do with meritocracy or individual player skill, and a lot more to do with who has the more powerful build, and more numbers of allies. In other words, whoever has the most unfair advantage.
@frostchaotic36913 жыл бұрын
@@terrythompson7535 well that's not it in ds2. Literally every weapon was. Nerfed. There are still OP weapons but skill ALWAYS trumps cheesy builds. I'm pretty sure skill can get you far in any ds game overall. So how about you practice instead of blaming the game

Adaptability doesn't stop the agility going up at 38. Since attunement also goes to agility, you can have more attunement, less adapt and still get 110 agility (almost maxed). I have 30 attunement and 33 adaptability, but 110 agility.
@vampors137210 жыл бұрын
On agility changing roll speed, Emarrel tested that at varying levels of agility with nor equipment and got, if there was any difference, only the smallest fraction of a roll speed change. Action speed changing is legit though.
@coto13210 жыл бұрын
Also ATN also increases the amount of castings for each spell, be it miracle or sorcery or hex. Each spell has its own break points at certain levels of ATN.
@LIBERTYorD34TH5 жыл бұрын
Attunement will also up your agility, and because agility effects how fast your animations are it also means that both attunement and adaptability effect how fast you use items ie estus flask, crushing life gems basically ANY consumable item that has an animation. I used to not understand why estus healing was soooooo painfully slow in this game, turns out it was because i was running around with only 6 ADP because in the early stages of this games popularity there was a notion going around the community that ADP was "a wasted stat" until we realized exactly what was involved with it. Mostly due to a pretty vague description of said stat.
@NexusKirin5 жыл бұрын

You missed one extremely important aspect about equip load. It also affects stamina regen significantly. 30% equipload can fully recharge stamina by 1 sec faster than 60% equip load. It may look silly, but 1 second is huge deal in dark souls.
@DavidVas00329 жыл бұрын
What you don't realize is that this video was made the same time the game was released. Also, you can't say it reduces stamina recovery time by about 1 second when it may reduce total recovery time by 2.5 seconds if you had 225 stamina as apposed to half a second with 100 stamina. (By the way, I made those times up because my point was you didn't reference total stamina.)

Adaptability doesn't seem to be that necessary. At 24 I have 99 agility and can roll through most things, but I can also roll through most things at 8 adp too. It lengthens the roll but the beginning of your roll is always invincible anyway.

thanks for the tips, I wasn't really sure how all the levels worked out and what would and wouldn't cap. I hope the PVP "level cap" in this game is closer to 150-200 that way we can all use better builds with more versatility (Melee+Faith/Int) but we'll see what people decide to run around in.
@PhatsMahoney8810 жыл бұрын
I hope it's higher too, just by judging how Hexes work and how much faith AND intelligence they require to cast and use some catalysts. Factor that in with needing the health and endurance to not be so squishy and maybe even the strength and dex to wield some of the weapon catalysts, I can see builds like that reaching 160 - 170 easy.
@burns010010 жыл бұрын
Phats Mahoney Though pvp builds are about fitting all your needed stats into the smallest package, so I can see people using spices to drop the requirements for some spells and using light armour to drop there needed equip load to fit into the needed pvp level if they want to run a duel build like hexer or str/faith and such. Straight pvp build will work better and I think most people will just run that with some pyro seeing how it can almost one hit people now and stun them.
@mAceOfHearts10 жыл бұрын
Phats Mahoney My Hexer build is currently SL 130 or something and I've only focused on FTH, INT and ATN. All of my other stats are insanely low. (12 STR, 10 END, 9 DEX. Everything else is 6)
@burns010010 жыл бұрын
Mads-Emil Jensen and that's the downfall of those builds, unless you use spices to lower spell requirements you will find it hard to make a hexer build using all the high level spells.
@PhatsMahoney8810 жыл бұрын
***** Without spices, trying for that miracle that requires 65 faith would equal a rather squishy PvP build. I just think the community could stand to raise the cap so there's more room for experimenting AND making a solid character so fights aren't won based on someone taking advantage of another's slip-up and having the fight end after one 2 handed attack or a backstab.

extremely helpful. looks like magic users are going to have tough time deciding their builds
@AshnSilvercorp10 жыл бұрын
something tells me level caps will be from 150-200. 200 sounds quite high, but it really could depend on the type of character. Mages have it tough this time, yes spices bring spells down and they aren't hard to get, but even getting int or faith to 40 for the damage scaling still leaves much less room for other stats. there are some of the weapons as well that can work better with an int build that have quite high stat requirements. I'm working on a build around a magic infused dragon rider twinblade (I know this weapon is quite overly popular right now) and using magic buffs on it. I put the build at 200 to use some hexes as well, and I can't invest much less without becoming a horribly squishy mage. Among stats that are ignored in my build are adaptability and somewhat of vitality. Most might wonder about uniqueness in sets at these levels, and (if they fix poise...) I can see some tank builds coming from high vigor, vitality, stamina, and adap setups with what ever power stat they need and still end up around sl 175.

I am new to Dark Souls 2 and im playing knight.So which of these do I need to lvl up?
@chaz70610 жыл бұрын
It depends on 3 things: 1) Defensive method: Do you try to roll and dodge or do you block? 2) Preferred Armor: Do you wear the light stuff or the heavy stuff. 3) Preferred Weapon: Spells? Thrusting Swords? Bows? Maces? What stats do your weapon scale with?
@Bust3rnaut10 жыл бұрын
Charles Hammond Jr Well I didn't tell anything here :D sorry about that. So 1) Block 2) Heavy Stuff 3)Swords
@chaz70610 жыл бұрын
Bust3rnaut Well here are a few considerations: 1) Vigor: You'll need a bit of it (at least 20) to get a fair amount of HP. If you're going to be wearing heavy armor and blocking you'll eventually be taking damage. Extra vigor (going above 20) is recommended but not before you get the strength/endurance needed to work properly. 2) Endurance: you definitely want to put a few points above the soft cap. Blocking takes stamina. You need stamina. Simply put. 3) Vitality: you'll need some extra points to put yourself below 70% max load. Don't put too many points here. You're not going to be rolling fast anytime soon. 4) Strength: This is going to be a key stat for 3 reasons: a) The good shields are all fairly heavy. b) Wearing heavy Armor requires a good amount of strength. c) You'll need it for weapon damage output. 5) Dexterity: has the potential to be a key stat depending on your balance between tankiness and damage output. Most swords scale based on both strength and dexterity. To get the most out of your swords you'll need to put points in both. This also has the side effect of giving you more options as to what weapons to use (particularly bows). 6) Adaptability: You'll want to put some points in here to improve poise and resistances. Agility is still somewhat important despite the fact that you're taking a tanky build. Stats to avoid: Attunement (you're not casting spells right?), Intelligence and Faith (again... you're not casting spells right?). You want to minimize points in these stats if you're going to follow your predicted play style. If you wanted to save points then you could use a different weapon type (I would reccomend hammers or axes... or some other weapon that scales chiefly with strength and less with dex) so as to avoid putting points in Dexterity. It would synergize better with a heavy armor blocking build.
@Bust3rnaut10 жыл бұрын

@MrBWK810 жыл бұрын
Hey Oroboro! What you think about ADP now that there are lots of people saying that ADP is the new resistance and that VIT is a better choice because VIT = Better Armor + better roll. Poise got nerfed, shields got nerfed, rolls got nerfed, backstab got nerfed, but... guard break is very interesting, spells got buffed and Whips are something...strong. What you think about dark souls II new metagame? Edit: i realy think that SL 130 is more than enough in DSII. Sure, we have less points than in DSI, but there are things to compensate, like using 4 rings!

honestly, you should push the break points. As he said, he doesn't know when people are going to stop leveling. Its a stupid idea to stop anyways, give the game a couple months before assuming that the meta-game will mean anything. True, and my first build in DS1 wasn't even optimized for PvP by any means. I'll probably wait a while when the meta-game becomes meaningful before making PvP builds again.

You can obtain an item somewhere near the starting areas that can be given to the Firekeepers at the start of the game to reset your stats to base levels. You might actually be able to change your class, as well, but I don't know.

If it helps allot of the guys on some of the forums think 175 would be a good PvP soul level since it would be high enough to get the "basics" needed, and enough points into 2 weapon stats to make hybrid builds (whether thats a melee+cast or a straight out Q-build) but not high enough to make a "does everything" build.
@TheInevitableAir10 жыл бұрын
That's too high, you won't be making any sacrifices.

Got a couple of questions: I watched a video somewhere that Mundane scales off of STR, DEX, INT, and FTH only. Is that true, or does it scale off of every stat? Also I have 54 faith and 60 int. If I left the stats on 40 faith and 40 int would my miracles, hexes, and sorceries deal relatively the same amount of dmg?

damn i got my str up to 50 thinking i would need it for some of the weapons like the black knight great axe and smough's hammer from the first game
@thenapski610810 жыл бұрын
Well, you could reallocate your stats with the Soul Vessel back at the beginning of the game with the old ladies in red. I'm doing it tonight, but want to make sure I'm doing it right this time.
@Ozeec210 жыл бұрын
ya ill probably do that but ill stick with my mistakes until NG+ so my first run is still blindish
@burns010010 жыл бұрын
Joe The AbyssWalker some weapons need 50 str but unless your build is around those 40 is good, I got a greataxe build with 40 str and I can deal close to 2000 crit damage.
@DeepbloodFang10 жыл бұрын
Gyrm greataxe requires 50, you can get it buy spending a certain amount of souls in Gavlans shop and then talking to him, he will give it you.

Here's a dumb question from a noob. Witch stat should I increase to lessen the amount of stamina drained from using heavy weapons?
