thanks for this striking footage. On the positive side the sponges seem to be thriving. Hopefully they'll help filter out the excess organic matter and bacteria/picoplankton to improve the water quality for remaining coral fragments and potential recruits. There seem to be not enough fish to graze the competing algae though.

i don't see any large pelagic fish on the reef. they fish them all out?

Its sad.. Its gonna take some time to recover our reefs.. just remember we recently had 2 hurricanes in 1 week 7 months ago...

sad the Caribbean reefs i believe have had the worst loss of corals in the world.

Agreed -- and during the pandemic, most of the science community is not there to see it. These are no longer the same ecosystems.
