Here in the Netherlands, a country with lots of waterways en lots of inland navigation, we have legislation as for the certification of working vessels. For tugs like these there is a minimum plate thickness that is mandatory. The measurement points are defined upfront based on the construction diagram of the specific vessel. So the certification engineer, in charge of the technical cerification of the vessel and employed by insurance and safety entities, decides where to measure. Hull thickness is determined on 9 mm minimum and that is way above the standards. And what was below the vessel is already replaced as per directive. So tell me, what is your profession?
