This is a personal one for us at Sing Out Loud. We had the honor of Tim Barry coming through town and playing our Backyard Stage at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre. It was a gorgeous Sunday...great weather, great music, and there was even an oyster roast to top it all off.
Tim has always been a massive influence on me. I followed his old band, AVAIL around the South seeing them live as much as humanly possible. To this day, no one has raised the hair on my neck more than seeing a live AVAIL show. Alas! This is not a worship piece on Tim's old band. What I'm getting at is that Tim still raises the hair on my neck with nothing more than a guitar and his voice. He commands the stage even more so than he used to. That is rare.
"Church Of Level Track" is a song about riding trains from VA to FL. It's his story, and it's a good one. Read the lyrics for the last half of the song:
